Oops. Sorry. Didn’t mean to hijack that point.
There was no glyph tattoo on Nikki’s back… clearly shown on Nikki 2’s back (upper right shoulder) when she went back to flyboy, but not there when she woke up.
Would agree that Chearbleeder loses her head… question is this… in all of the other paintings, whatever prognostipainter painted happened… no stopping it… so either (as others suggested) its the poser that actually gets capped or suddenly his paintings don’t come to pass?
Definitely more ambigous as to EDWMNBSEAL (evil dad who may not be so evil after all) - I think they are keeping it that way… clearly a gov’t agent kinda guy… just doesnt want to be trackable.
CopBoy better figure out how to control these fainting spells… and he’s a cop… shouldnt he know better than to wave the gun around after the fact?
How much you wanna bet that DL and the Eraser are brothers/cousins… they look an awful lot alike.
I thought that was a great episode. So far, this show is as compelling to me as Lost was in its first season. Good stuff.
If I ever need to go back in time and give myself a warning, I’m telling you right now, there’s not going to by any of this vaguely understood cryptic stuff that only makes sense after the fact. I’m going with what my past self needs to know, complete with names, dates, explanations, who, where, when, what, how and why. If possible, I’m writing it all down in a 57 page color brochure with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one and handing it to myself.
A note to all you future time travelers. Get Organized! If you only have a limited time in the past, make the most of it. How does saving the cheerleader save the world? Where does she live? At least give her name! Don’t leave it up to the drugged out artist to paint your exposition for you. We’re talking about saving the world here.
A little too much filler in the last half of the episode. Another dramatic pause for an ending where nornmal conversation would occur. “I have a message for you…” “Yes?” “…” So what is it, “…” “Hello? Hello? Are you still there?” “…” “Cheap lousy @#$%@# cell phone!!”
I’d like to see decent drama and conflict with Evil Dad. He seems to care about his daughter. I think he was actually upset when he heard her confession.
Even if not written in the script, the actor did his best to show the little conflict where he hoped to hear her admit she has powers then is caught in dad mode when he finds out she was nearly raped
I hope they play that as legitimate fatherly feelings for the girl.
It makes for more interesting drama rather than the usual “Mwaa haa haa!!” type of evil guy.
Well, with anything that prognostipainter had painted before that had come to pass, there wasn’t anybody attempting to stop it. Either it was half a world away (the Israeli bus in the pilot) or unknown to the actors (the kiss in the rain). The difference with cheerbleeder’s forthcoming brain-ectomy is that there are now 3 others (Emo Petrelli and Prognostipainter via the painting, and Hiro via the telephone call at the end) on the case to find out who and where she is in time to stop it.
Right, and that’s where it get’s really wierd…
There are now 2 people actively wanting to change the outcome (it can be argued if the prognostipainter is in on changing it yet - hes just the voice)… as soon as Hiro says “she must be saved” events change… if Hiro/Peter and the others are successful, then shouldnt the prognostipainter have painted the saving at this point? Or is that why he couldnt finish it, because that part was “fuzzy”? Him painting the “death” to me would mean that they are unsuccessful. Had he already painted the death prior to peter’s arrival, that would’ve been better…then he goes into paintmode and says “this one isnt right anymore”.
Personally, I’d have liked it had they looked at the painting and it simply said:
“Save Clair, shes a chearleader in TX, you’ve already met her dad - ask Mohinder about him, he wears glasses”
In really bad paintbrush letters.
Maybe the answer lies in that the prognostipainter *didn’t *paint it. All he painted was the dark, shawdoy man looming over . . . something. Nurse Brother finished the painting.
NiKi. One K.
Was he really “waving it around”? Seemed to me like he was just sort of holding on to it but was unsteady because of the thoughts bombarding him.
Great episode, I just loved it.
And for those thinking Doppelbanger’s hubby is the same as the guy who works for Evil Dad, I can give a resounding FUCK NO. The guy who plays Ghost Dad (Doppelbanger’s hubby) is Leonard Roberts, I know him from Drumline, but he’s also guested on a lot of tv shows.
And yes, if I ever met Hiro, I’d buy him a waffle.

I am disappointed that Dopplebanger doesn’t affect camera recordings; while Capt. Congress has neatly turned the tables on Linderman, I still would like to have seen Niki up to her eyeballs because they didn’t have a tape.
At the end, Peter says to Hiro on the phone, “I have a message for you.” What message? I don’t recall Future-Hiro giving any message to Peter. If one of the TIVO-ers out there can clarify, I’d appreciate it.
As for EvilDad not being evil… I’ve got seriously mixed feelings about him right now. True, he was protecting Claire, but he told his helper (Hollow Man – good enough for me) to empty the QB out. The QB has absolutely no memory, no identity of himself now. Is that better or worse than killing him? I don’t know.
What I’m wondering the most is, does the Prognostipainter really have to shoot up to induce his visions? Or does he just think he does? Peter managed to paint without shooting up, after all.
Okay, enough disjointed ramblings for now.
Well, he should’ve pocketed it immediately… making it visible was only going to start the panic…so, yeah, having it visible is ‘waving it around’ at that point. As a cop, he should know better. (especially since hes out of uniform and all)
I agree that the ‘waving’ was due to his unsteadiness at the increased thougths… seems this guy is going to be a bit of a wuss in the league, since if people are thinking around him he’s going to get all woozy.
I’m under the impression that he thinks he does, and that he really doesnt… I’m not sure if he did/did not actually shoot up the last episode… they showed him preparing to, and then he went into paintmode… might be a trigger (ala Nik i) that he hasnt learned to control yet…
Future-Hiro’s message to Peter was “Save the cheerleader: save the world.” I’m assuming this is what Peter means to pass on to Present-Hiro. And then he said something like, “when you meet me, you must tell me where to meet,” or something like that. I should watch this episode again.
Perhaps Isaac paints the future that is most likely at any given point. His painting of NY going up in flames was the most likely outcome at the time he was painting it. I don’t think his art sets the future in stone - more like it shows what is the most probable future, given the present circumstances.
As far as Niki’s husband being a killer, I’m thinking that Niki2 killed and the husband covered for her. She just seemed so over the top afraid of him… assuming the son was right about his father’s innocence; Niki’s certainity of his guilt seemed misplaced, as the only one of the pair we’ve ‘seen’ kill so far has been her.
Or he’s using the Dope to "dull’ his power, a type of self-medication… the way some people with mental illness use drugs to reduce their episodes. Only like them, the medication only works so far and becomes an addiction.
I meant to say that Future Hiro said to Peter something like, “when you speak to me, you must tell me where we should meet.” I haven’t had any coffee yet, sorry.
“Always in motion, the future is.” Agreed that Isaac only paints the most probably outcome at the time.
I’d forgotten the, “when you meet me” bit – I’ll definitely watch the episode again but given Life, it won’t be until at least tomorrow. If you see it before then, would you kindly clarify? Thanks.
To add to what he said, FutureHiro started with, “I’m risking a time-rift by being here” Then “You must tell me where we met.” I think we’re stepping into some time-confusion here. Does FutureHiro remember being told to meet Peter in the subway? Maybe. But he had to be told to do it, so he knows to do it:) I love this show!
It’s possibly intended to set up a future mistaken identity moment. I really don’t like the “let’s make all the major characters related to each other / Luke, I am your father” cliche.
