Heroes 10/23 "Hiro's" (spoilers)

Well, to be completely correct we don’t know if she can affect recordings or not. The camcorder recording was fuzzed out visually but the audio was still good, but we don’t know if alt-Niki futzed with the video manually after the fact or what.

No, I think it’s pretty clear that he thinks he has to use the drugs to access his power but that he doesn’t. He did the comic book and presumably didn’t think it was prophetic.

I’m (now) on board with the theory that Dopplebanger commited the murder for which DL was framed during one of Niki’s blackouts. I fear Dopplebanger means to do DL harm (based on previews of the next episode
As for the cheerleader, to me it’s more likely that Peter saw a possible future that he now knows he is supposed to prevent, rather than that being the scooped out remains of the usurping cheerleader
But yeah, I second the ‘why didn’t Future Hiro provide more information’

See, I don’t think he can be more specific since every time he comes back, he changes things. He CAN"T tell Peter exactly what to do because what may happen is too fuzzy. BTW, I not only love nerdy cute Hiro, I think Future Hiro is hot!

WTF? Do all black men look alike?

http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/episodes/season1/105/hiros_16.shtml#recap “DL- Mr. Bennet’s cleaner…”?

C’mon these two guys look nothing alike IMO , save they have bald heads and a some color. The cleaner looks at least 10-15 years older, maybe a bit taller too.

Geez, one would think the NBC site would be able to tell the difference…

Is it really that hard?

Agreed. Also, NBC will not have a hero that depends on drugs. Artist guy is going to realize that he has been suppressing his power and doesn’t need the heroin. After all neither he nor Hair Boy were high when Hair Boy completed the painting. I am still hoping that Hair Boy gets a different personality when he is near Nikki, but maybe her alternate personality is just a result of suppressing her powers too.

What makes you think the Cleaner is a villain? While mind-wiping isn’t merit-badge worthy, it’s a far cry from eating brains. Soliders sometimes do things that we don’t; but those acts aren’t necessarily evil or turn them into villains.

Would your bold prediction be equally bold, if both the black characters are mostly good, but flawed?

Cool pics. Thanks. Nathan’s body must be very durable while he’s flying in order to go from zero to mach 1+ almost instantly. That would explain why skidding a landing on gravel was just a little ouchy.

Interesting observation. I wonder if the glyph is actually important or is it like the numbers on Lost; just inserted into the show to keep the fans paying attention and speculating like crazy.

I’m a little surprised TelepaMatt was able to take a sick day when he’s been missing for 24 hours and he’s in the middle of an important investigation with the FBI agent. I really thought he was destined to end up with her, after the wife conveniently left him. I agree that while having a lover who can read your thoughts might be really fun, eventually no matter how much you love your spouse, you’re going to have a stray thought like, “your butt’s kinda fat.”

It looked like Isaac may have briefly touched Peter’s shoulder while they were talking. So, we still don’t know whether Peter needs to touch you or not to use your power.

I think Hiro had to be deliberately cryptic because he was risking a time rift just by being there. I’m not going to dwell on time-travel inconsistencies too much.

Am I the only one who suspects maybe Genius Kid killed somebody and Dad took the blame? The kid is very sure his dad is innocent.

I took two years of German. I can slowly read German newspapers but I found trying to read manuals in German impossible because of all the new German vocabularyn jargon and idioms.

Just three comments right now:

1)Nathan must get some sort of protection while flying (à la Cannonball from Marvel)–Breaking the sound barrier didn’t break him, he didn’t break an ankle or lose all the skin off the soles of his feet in the landing, and he didn’t die of exposure while flying at 700 miles per hour barechested in his jammies.

2)While watching Matt’s scenes with his wife, I kept telling him (am I the only one who talks to people on my TV?) to cool it. He was making that day so perfect that he’s going to have trouble living up to it for the rest of the marriage, even with telepathy. The wife may really be impressed with her attentive hubby today, but it’ll make things that much worse when he suddenly disappears to New York, as I assume he’ll eventually have to.

3)While I don’t know loads of cops, I do know a few (my brother’s an officer), and I don’t know any that would go out in public unarmed, even if just popping down to the corner store. That is either poor writing or an indication that Matt isn’t as cynical as he’d ought to be. It could be trouble later on.

One of Ashleigh Brilliant’s aphorisms was: When I reach True Enlightenment, I’ll let you know (if letting you know still seems important).

I think the sentiment applies here as well. Perhaps giving nuts-and-bolts, can’t miss directions to people in the past is doomed to fail, or creates some sort of cause-and-effect feedback loop, wherein if you do it, there was never a need for you to do it, so you didn’t do it, etc etc. Perhaps the cryptic approach is absolutely necessary to preserve both the change and the future circumstances requiring the intervention in the past.

His jammies would have to be especially durable, too.
I have to admit, I thought mind-scoop and runaway dad were the same character, because I only caught a glimpse of RD’s photo (bald black guy) and drew what seemed a natural conclusion, in light of the show’s tendency to throw its characters together through amazing coincidences (i.e. rather than fly back to his hotel, Congressman Contrail lands at an isolated diner where Hiro is about to waffle-nosh).

As for Hiro paying for stuff, it’s entirely possible he has credit cards. He gave a Yen banknote to the newsvendor and the cops said he had no American money, but I’m sure Visa and/or Mastercard has its hooks in the Island of Immortals.

And security tied.

ooo, baby!

well, of course he wouldn’t fly back to the hotel ED and MS are waiting for him there. It’s Hiro’s fortunate coincedence that he happens to be at the diner where CC lands (and just how many nicknames have we now given Nathan?)

A couple responses here. First of all, most cops do carry off duty, however I have heard of many that do not—especially ones that haven’t been on the force that long. Second, Matt is not a good cop…that’s been established. He’s not “together” enough, too distracted. Third, he was running out to buy ice cream for his wife on a spur-of-the-moment thing and even if he were a good enough cop to carry off duty, he probably forgot it in the heat of the moment.

I’m still holding onto the thread of possibility that the Prognostipainter isn’t foretelling the future, he’s creating it. Not a big possibility, and done much better by Ursula K. Le Guin, but still a possibility.

That’s interesting. I’ve been friends with five or six cops over the years and I’ve never known them to routinely carry off-duty with the exception of a Deputy Chief of Police who always had a weapon in his private vehicle. But he also had a police radio in his car because his position made him pretty much on-call most of the time and he had to be prepared to drop what he was doing and respond to something.

Could it be a regional thing?

I don’t know. I know cops up and down the Eastern Seaboard and a couple out in the southwest and they all carry off duty, but they’ve told me some of the younger guys don’t, at least at first, especially in big cities. Don’t know about California.

I actually like the work of Nostrapainter and would mind having one of them in my living room. They give off a Lichtenstein vibe.

hrmph…
Wouldn’t mind

I refuse to be ashamed for thinking they might be the same guy. We’ve seen one of them only briefly and in relative darkness. The cameras haven’t focused on either one of them long enough to fix them in my head. So :stuck_out_tongue:

That said, I admit I do miss a lot of the stuff in this show.
