Heroes 10/23 "Hiro's" (spoilers)

cool, but I can’t decide if it’s helpful or not. No episode on Monday (no idea why, but promo said “in two weeks”) so we have to wait. grrr.

Micah’s supersmartness may be a power in itself.

Just read this week’s comic, and yeah, it seems to confirm the suspicions of many of us - that ikiN commited the murder and her husband is taking the rap for it. I still don’t understand why she’d frame him, though. Does she have an agenda, or is she simply chaotic and bases her actions on whatever whim strikes her at the time?

There is an episode of Adam 12 about this - the guys were going on a motorcycle picnic with their babes, the babes didn’t want the guns along, the guys were required by their jobs to carry their guns at all times, bad motorcycle dudes show up, guns save the day. Anyway, these California cops were required (in the script, at least) to carry their guns at all times.

Yeah, I’m not sure how useful it end up, but it was sure helpful for the first few episodes.

Claire’s father said of both Claire and Nathan that he knows more about them then they know themselves. I’m curious how that will play out.

You missed the connection between future-Hiro and Mohinder.

Crystal is an Inhuman from Marvel with the power to manipulate the classical four elements. She was married to Quicksilver (mutant) and they had a child together, Luna, who despite being the offspring of a mutant and an Inhuman had no powers.

And count me as another who doesn’t want the kid to have powers.

Could be; Hiro lives in Tokyo, and we know he takes advantage of the extensive public transportation system.

Of all the characters with their varied reactions to their new-found powers, Nathan’s may be the most remarkable. Flying is something people literally dream about; perhaps the most romantic of all the superpowers. One can only imagine the sense of freedom that would go with it. Wouldn’t that be a life-changing, amazing thing? Yet Nathan seems to take it completely in stride. He’ll use his ability to escape danger or save his brother, but otherwise seems uninterested in the whole superpowers thing; much more concerned with getting into the U.S. House of Representatives.

Man, if I could fly, I’d be doing it as much as possible. I’m going to go back and watch that first scene again because it’s so effin’ cool.

Let’s see… If Mom has doppleganger powers, and Dad can make himself invisible, then I think he could be the first kid in history to actually have an invisible friend.

Why shouldn’t the paintings come to pass? Perhaps she loses her brain… and they have to go find it and put it back. Everything in the paintings could still come true, and she can be resurrected.

This will lead to a funny story where they walk into Sylar’s lair and find several hundred brains in jars. One by one, they have to stuff them in Cheerbleeder’s head until one of them takes root and flourishes.

Speculation to see if y’all think this idea has merit:

Is it possible that the reason behind “save the cheerleader” is not that Claire is important for what she will do herself, but rather because Peter will need to borrow her regenerative powers at some vital juncture?

I like it. However, are we sure that the cheerleader in question is Claire? Yes, she’s appeared in visions and paintings. But, she’s part of a squad.

I’ll have to re-watch - again. But didn’t future Hiro say something about Peter in particular being “the one?” Or something important?

Saving the cheerleader is important, but I think Hiro & Peter are the really critical players.

or it’s possible that her death will push her father over the edge and he does something either out of a desire to avenge her death or to prevent it and causes the destruction ala “Days of Future past…”

Hmmm…but then, if Peter gets the regeneration, why would Hiro mentio he has a scar in the future? Of course, he could get the scar after getting the regeneration power, but if he got it once, couldn’t he just go stand next to her again and have his scar go away?

Of course, maybe the power only regenerates injuries that occur while you have the power itself.

That’s the way regeneration powers usually work. Or wounds that are still open when a Mimic-type picks them up. Occasionally they’ll do away with pre-existing scars, but usually that takes longer, and is often a sign that there’s something up with the regeneration.

I only get to watch this show late, and I don’t get the previews for next week’s ep. But hooboy! This is the best thing on TV this year.

I am slightly disappointed that the videodisk of the Congressman and Niki was actually taped, but that just means I have to go with theory two: Niki hit a thug in the head with the videocamera, damaging it enough to kill the video, but not the audio.

My funniest line: It’s all in English…
Funniest moment: long battery life on that Nissan Versa.

He said something about Peter telling him that this was their destiny, or something along those lines. I don’t think Future-Hiro meant that Peter was “the One” in terms of who’ll be the most important when it comes to saving the world, but rather that Peter will be the driving force behind the effort to gather the Heroes together and stop the destruction from coming true. Like maybe the leader, the way Cyclops is in X-men.

Okay, here’s the dialogue between Future-Hiro and Peter in the subway.

H: Peter Petrelli.
P: What… Are you doing this?
H: You look different without the scar.
P: I don’t know you.
H: Not yet. My name is Hiro Nakamura. I’m from the future. And I have a message for you. I don’t have much time. I’m risking a rift just by coming here. The girl. You have to save her.
P: What girl?
H: The cheerleader. It’s the only way to prevent it.
P: Prevent what?
H: …Everything. Listen to me. She must live. The painter: Isaac. Go to him. He will know. When I call you, you must tell me where we meet.
P: …
H: You told me many times how lost you felt…before it all started. This…is what you’ve been waiting for. Be the one we need.
P: <nods> Wait…
H: Save the cheerleader - save the world.
P: Wait, Hiro, I don’t understand!

You forgot to include:

P: wipes hair out of face.
P: wipes hair out of face again.
P: wipes hair out of face AGAIN!

Thanks for the transcript though.

Also, I am reminded by the bit of dialogue quoted above, the future Hiro is coming from is likely one where Peter and the others never saved Claire. So, even if Claire’s regeneration deals with pre-existing scars, Peter couldn’t have picked it up to use it, anyway.
