Heroes 10/29/07 - "The Line" (SPOILERS)

Last week: Peter got his name and passport back just in time to prognosti-paint a trip to Montreal with Colleen O’Lassy or whoever. Nathan and Matt met the men of their dreams and beat the piss out of them. Mohinder blew his cover with Niki but looked smokin’ while doing it. Ando was more exciting reading about Hiro in feudal Japan than Hiro was while actually in feudal Japan. Cousin Monica went all Malcolm McLaren and Sonny Chiba, and Kristen Bell was electrifying.

This week: Hope springs eternal that the titular line is of the “power” variety and West flies himself smack into it.

If the storyline switchoff holds true, though, this week we’ll be subjected to stalker West stinking up Claire’s storyline, and the Wonder Twins stinking up Sylar’s… and hopefully not so much of sidekick-Hiro’s not-so-excellent adventure told entirely offscreen, or Peter’s adventure in the Land O’ the Erratic Accents.

Mostly, I’m looking forward to Noah, and the Matt - Nathan duo. And accentless N’Awlins Girl.

Wonder if Niki will actually do anything?

Noah can speak Russian (I assume)? What else is he capable of?

Also, Ivan (the random Russian guy) looks so familiar. I know he’s been in something, but I can’t recall what.

Claire: “Public humiliation.”

I guess my superpower is precise anticipation of cheesy dialogue! Now, how do I parlay that into fame and money?

Ah-ha, I got it! He was Peter Parker’s landlord in Spider-Man 2 and 3.

This is the first time I am actually enjoying West as a character. That was hilarious.

Damnit I kept getting static and ghosting and couldn’t read half the subtitles! What did Ando and the scientist say after the kiss?

He’s “Hey! It’s that Russian Guy!” If there’s a Russia-related scene in Hollywood he’s involved. And he’s usually named Ivan or Yuri.

Wow, I thought that Maya was to biological as Ted was to nuclear, but I didn’t realize that they were going to give us the exact same plot ark as last season!

That’s actually kinda ballsy in its brazenness.

I believe Ando asked what came next, the scientist said that what was the last of it, Ando couldn’t believe that was all Hiro had left for him.
Someone with a DVR will have to come along and give the specifics.
(The Hiro storyline has become more interesting to me, yay).

The scientist apologized that there wasn’t any more scroll and Ando said something about how there had to be because his friend wasn’t back yet.

How about that, West actually slightly engaged my interest as a character. He’s out to corrupt Claire, but to what end?

And another episode in which Niki does absolutely nothing to my complete non-surprise. If that even was Niki, and not Jessica. Feh.

West has dragged Claire’s plotline into complete annoyance. At least all the other Heroes seem to be moving vaguely and slooooowly toward relevance of the central storyline ('cept maybe Hiro). But after saving the world last season, now Claire is busy getting one-up on mean cheerleaders. Didn’t we see that plot last season, too?

Once again, all the action in Hiro’s storyline takes place offscreen. Just when some action is about to take place, Hiro teleports away so as to save the show’s budget.

I’m confused. Maya’s arc doesn’t seem anything like Ted’s at all.

Aside from accidentally killing people with their powers. But Ted’s came from a power boost from The Company and Maya’s was natural.

Maya and company crossed the border
Maya used her power deliberately (but I think she did it last time)
Noah killed the Russian (but that is nothing new)
Hiro kissed the girl (finally)
Mohinder refused to follow company orders

Assuming that the title of the episode referrers to crossing the line, that’s all I came up with. Did the title have a different meaning?

That was Ted’s paranoia. His power was natural. The company just injected him with their tracer like the other heros.

Anybody know what happened after Peter picked up the Mandatory Evac. sign? My PVR stopped recording at that point.

I think the future in which Peter and What’sherface have found themselves is supposed to be a result of Maya’s powers gone crazy.
