Heroes 11/05/07 - "Out of Time" (SPOILERS)

Last week: Monica picked up some mad gymnastic skillz and a suspicious iPod with no headphones. Hiro got double-crossed by Kensai and left poor Ando hanging. Noah and the Haitian totally kill Hey It’s That Russian Guy. Mohinder, concerned that a virus might mutate and start affecting normal humans, smashes open a bunch of ccontainers of virus then gets partnered with Nessiki. Claire abuses her powers, Maya gives som Minutemen the stink-eye and Sylar threatens Alejendro right to his face while Alejandro is stuck in a que?-hole. And Peter constiports himself and Colleen O’Lassy to a deserted NYC a year (show-chronology) in the future.

Tonight: We may learn why Peter doesn’t have to make the poopy-face when he constiports. Let’s watch!

It just ended here in Canada (on Global). I very much enjoyed this episode, and the “cliffhanger” has me very interested to know how things will unravel over the rest of the season!

KENSEI!

Mohinder! You IDIOT! !#$%&*!!!

Kensei? Adam? BUH?

This reveal probably would have been much bigger if everyone hadn’t guessed it like a month ago…

Still, I’m liking it. And Kensei in the present can only be cool.

All in all, pretty good. Even West didn’t drag Claire’s storyline down too much, although it was still the weakest of the bunch. And Niki might actually be relevant – although, alas, that will probably consist of her being weepy and useless some more, as she slowly dies from her vaguely fatal yet not disfiguring illness. sigh

Nice to see Angela’s power with Peter, finally. And to my complete non-surprise, it has absolutely nothing at all to do with making people do what she wants them to do. Which she’s always been terrible at.

And I’m not particularly displeased that Colleen O’Lassy (frankly the nickname is the only thing I can remember of her) is trapped in the soon-to-be extinguished future. And I’m really pleased that Hiro’s Excellent Adventure is at last over. And that they actually showed some of the action this time, rather than just telling us about it! Could’ve knocked me down with a feather. Erm, if I wasn’t already sitting down, that is.

Some thoughts:

Is it possible that Adam was the first “Peter” that Claude referred to back in Season 1?
Is Bob telling the truth about Adam?
Could Maya’s possible use be that she can actually kill the Immortals (ie Claire, Peter, and Adam)?
Does anyone still think West is a spy?

Well, it certainly took them long enough to start tying the threads together. I was even amused by the West storyline. Not the part where he was all cuddly with Claire, but rather the part where HRG scared him away. Here’s hoping that he’s flown out of Claire’s life forever.

Given that we know Kensei/Adam’s ability, do we think he’s possibly Claire’s real daddy? (my apologies if this theory has previously been put forth)

What power? She yelled “Remember!” at him a bunch of times and then he got a flash of images. I just assumed that was the amnesia wearing off.

Wait–did I miss that part? She was talking to him, he suddenly remembered her (but nothing else), then what?

Nathan Petrelli is Claire’s real daddy, established last season.

It’s getting obvious to me, though, that Adam/Kensei is Nathan’s daddy…or maybe his great-great-great grandaddy.

She says “Peter, you have to remember”, does the meaningful look thing, and suddenly we and Peter are subject to a bunch of flashback images that are all about Angela and Peter. Seemed pretty clearly to me an indication that it was a power doing that, not just Peter suddenly remembering everything when no previous stimulus had done so (including having been around his mother for some small amount of time before then, apparently).

Also, Angela’s smug expression once Peter had remembered sort of clinched it.

Hmm… What happens when you’re from the present, but trapped in a future your fellow time travellers are about to undo? Do you vanish with it? Are you trapped there in a parallel timeline, inaccessible to the “true” timeline? Do you merely shift over to the new timeline? Or something else entirely?

It amused me that Kensei had apparently seen Highlander way back in the 17th century, given that he knew decapitation would kill him. And yeah, we all saw that coming.

Bob knows who Adam is. Bob also knows who Nathan’s father is. If they were one and the same, he would have told Nathan so, and Nathan obviously recognized everyone else connected with starting the Company.

Kensei is not Nathan’s father.

Angela Petrelli has already admitted to one affair, why not another?

But if having the same powers = being related, then aren’t West and Nathan probably related also? Which would make Claire and West related. Ewww. It seems like they wouldn’t have two characters with the exact same abilities if it weren’t significant to the story somehow, or at least, that’s my (possibly completely incorrect) assumption.

Because there has been completely zero build-up to such a revelation? And Heroes does not have plot-points come out of nowhere?

Also, I though that this zany theory was that people thought the half-in-profile shot of Nathan’s father in the group pic kinda-sorta looked like Kensei/Adam?

I have to say, I’m a little upset that no one laughed at my que?-hole joke. I was rather proud of it.

I can’t believe I’m making this complaint, but too much stuff happened tonight. The whole West-Claire bit should’ve been held for a week and Maury’s Invasion should’ve been given the time. Niki’s whole bit was rushed, not to mention poorly staged.

Any future that includes Peter naked and wet can’t be all bad.
