Last week: Hiro finally made it back to the present, loaded down with boring vacation stories and tacky souvenirs. Parkman got a major power boost. Peter did a quick stint in the road company of “I Remember Mama,” stranded Colleen O’Lassy a year in the future and reunited with Adam/Kensai to send shippers and slashers into a tizzy. Claire’s daddy issues went to 11 after West outed Noah as HRG. And Niki took one for the team.
This week: we learn what happened between the end of last season and the beginning of this one. How did Peter and Nathan survive? What happened to DL? How did Peter and Adam get together, how does Elle fit into the picture and What’s The Matter With Helen?
-Peter, and by extension his new buddy Adam and ex-jailer Elle
-Nathan, not so much. Lost bro, got depressed, got dumped by wife, lost razor
-DL: real dead, or soap opera dead?
-Mo, Molly and Matt: Probably a result of Molly whining to Mohinder “Can we keep him??” when Matt got released from the hospital
-Mohinder and Niki’s apparent chumminess: post-massacre bonding in the waiting room waiting for their respective husbands to come out of surgery
-Sylar: dragged off to a tool shed in Mexico by Cand/chelle,but on whose probably evil directive?
No cleanup required: Claire and the Bennets, Hiro.
I was so happy to see this happen. I kept saying he had just about the lamest superpower I’d ever seen- he could hear thoughts… if the person was actually subvocalizing it at the time. My inner gamer was offended at his inefficiently-built character- where the heck was he spending the rest of his points?
That hadn’t occurred to me, but now that you mention it if Adam decides Peter needs a good decontamination bath Enterprise-style, I’m down with that. Extra kinky points if Adam is Peter’s great, great, great, great grandfather.
Poor Adam. half your age + 7 ? Probably nobody else in the whole world that it isn’t squicky for him to make out with. Maybe in a few centuries, he can make out with Peter and Claire. But until then urgh
Hello? He bought off two DNPCs. And got that “Policeman” Perk he’d been eyeing for so long.
And, let’s face it, he didn’t do much to get XP last season. (much like Niki, who only got rid of that split personality disad.)
Hey, a much better episode than usual for this season. Just two things didn’t ring true to me. If your body explodes in a massive nuclear reaction, it seems like your body would be messed up a little bit. At least your clothes might be a little charred or something. And you might be a little too shaken to fly around grabbing people out of the sky. Unless, course, you’re a HERO! And, how did Nikki’s husband find her? I’ve never been to L.A. Are there only three or four places to go out for the evening?
AFAIK this was the plan for this season all along. Half the season leading up to a hiatus followed by the other half. The upcoming episodes will bring the total to 11 for the season which is half of the usual 22. The writers’ strike (plus overall lower ratings) have cost us the “Origins” limited series, not (at least so far) any of the regular show.
As much as I liked DL as a character, he’d pretty much served his purpose from every storytelling perspective. In the Niki storyline his death served as her motivation to get involved with Bob and the Company beyond the simple pill-popping and in the Peter storyline he stuck around long enough for Peter to absorb his powers as his means of escape. Although how Peter knew he had phasing powers is a little unclear; was he ever around DL when DL phased?
I would be interested in knowing exactly how DL went from “ex-con who couldn’t get a job” to “fully trained firefighter” in the space of 30-60 days…
How cretinous exactly are they planning on making Micah’s boy cousin? Is he in fact supposed to b retarded in some way? Asking to “play” with your cousin’s dead father’s medak at the funeral service? Teach that punk some manners, Uhura!
Maya and Alejandro…who cares. That time could’ve been better spent.
Kirsten Bell, not working for me. I know she can act but she’s just not pulling off this role convincingly.
They seem to be implying yet again that Mama Petrelli has some sort of persuasion power, what with the Significant. Upper. Arm. Squeeze. Shots. If she has a power I wish they’d just out her already.
Did I miss something, or did Uhura walk right past ‘Bob’ without any hint of recognition near the end of the episode? That suggests that she wasn’t the woman in that group photo from a couple episodes back (or maybe her mind’s been haitian-ized).
