So apparently you can restore haitian-ized memories. Or maybe Peter picked up the power from someone (his mom?). Or maybe it just served the plot well this time.
I really liked this episode. But since I am without DVR, I have a couple questions:
Is Kensei (the British impostor and Peter’s new best friend) the same guy that Bob claimed is the Big Bad Guy? (IIRC, Bob’s quote was something like “[Parkman’s dad] is the blunt instrument, but [?] is the [?].”) (I can’t even remember the guys ‘real’ first name right now)
Also, did he “hit it”? (Veronica Chars, that is.)
Are Claire and Peter immortal? I suppose Kensei could have traveled back to the future (present) with Hiro, but he still hasn’t changed in a few decades (unless he’s lying).
I think we saw DL’s grave a few weeks ago (present time). So if they try to pull off a soap opera death, I’ll be really ticked off.
I thought Adam told him it was a function of his healing abilities…

Yeah, Bob said IIRC, “…but Adam is the strategist” or “brains behind it” or something on that order.
I agree on the immortality thing. Right before they escaped, Peter said something to Adam like, “You look pretty good for four centuries…”
I dunno, I liked her acting better when she said she’s lived in the building for 16 years, never been on a date, etc. It helped explain why she was so strangely immature (not sure if that was a conscious acting decision on her part or not).
Couldn’t agree more. If that’s not her power I’m going to be rather pissed off at them for being all coy. Or maybe she just couldn’t keep her hands off Rena Sofer. I know I couldn’t.
The flashbacks are getting a little tiring. When DL saved the girl from the fire, I thought it was Claire, then had to remind myself “wait - how far back is this?”
I thought this was the best episode of the season.
I hate that Adam is a Hiro foe, because he seems really cool and he and Peter are so great on screen together.
Man, it’s great that Peter is getting his memories back, because he is so unbelievably cool with all of his powers. I know taking his powers away makes things more interesting, because he is so powerful that almost noone has a chance, but, I love the glimpses of his power that we get. Him catching Nathan as he fell in last night’s episode, or that episode set in the future from last season. Awesome stuff.
I thought the killing of DL was actually well done. It’s perfect that he died in such a random unrelated way. I think it added some emotional heft to the episode. And, you know, I have met kids that would have asked to play with the medal. So, that cracked me up.
So is Adam truly bad? Or, is he pretty much ok and just has a hate on for Hiro? I guess you really can’t hate Hiro and be truly good. SO NEVER MIND.
Fun episode!
pat
Kind of similar to Eden’s power, then.
Do we know if Adam still has a Hate-On for Hiro in the present? I’m sure he won’t be thrilled when they run into each other again, but it probably won’t take much to put it behind them and “save the world” together.
Adam did say that the memory restoration is a function of his healing abilities. But it also appeared that future-Mama Petrelli at least partially restored Peter’s memories last episode before Peter constiported back to the warehouse.
That’s the thing, we still don’t know. They’ve strongly implied it on a couple of occasions but they’ve also rather explicitly showed people acting in complete opposition to what she’s wanted them to do.
I would hope that after 400 years he’d pretty much be over it by now. Maybe he finally decided to be the hero that Hiro said he could be by helping others like himself but he’s just not going about it very well?
I personally hope for more ambiguously evil or misguided.
He might have had time to get over Hiro’s stealing of the princess, but that charbroiling would probably take some more time to deal with.
Ah, I missed that, thanks.
Adam said that they’d kept him locked up for 30 years because “they can’t kill me.” But didn’t he tell Hiro last week that you could kill him by cutting off his head? Or, based on what we’ve seen with Claire, you should be able to drive a stake into his head to keep him from causing trouble. Less risky than keeping him imprisoned.
Is anybody else sick (literally) of Maya’s squid ink leakin’ eyeballs??
She and Alejandro are squicking me out. Brink back Niki…PLEASE.
No real basis for it, but I’ve always had the impression that Adam’s “healing” wasn’t so much healing as it was resurrection. It’s not logical to think that he went 30 years in his native timeframe without ever being injured and noticing that he healed instantly. It is possible that he was never fatally wounded before he was shot with arrows in front of Hiro (he also had dialogue along the lines of “maybe in my next life” which struck me as a big honking clue). So he didn’t technically “heal” after being shot, he came back to life. He didn’t heal from the gunpowder explosion, it killed him and he resurrected. So a stake through the head or whatever may not cause the same sort of interference as it does with Claire and Peter.
As for the decapitation reference, who knows if Adam knew for sure that would kill him?
The fact that Adam’s blood acts as a healing agent on others does monkey-wrench my theory a bit, but hey, it’s a comic book. Less logical things than “the blood of an immortal heals mortals” have been flown.
I can’t believe people actually liked this episode. It was the crappiest yet of Heroes, IMO. So pointless.
The only things we learned were how Nathan got healed, and how DL got killed (like a chump). Everything else has been easily inferred from previous episodes, making this episode… pointless.
Oh noes, Niki and Lightning Lass are nutjobs! No kidding. Peter was caught by the Company! No kidding. Peter met Adam, they’re going to do stuff. Whoopee. Maya killed a lot of people! No, really?
This whole episode was a serious waste of time, did not advance the plotline one jot or tittle, and is especially aggravating inasmuch as there’s only three more episodes. This is what they wasted writers’ time on? Feh.
Biggest eyeroll of the episode for me. I know it’s what people have been speculating since Season One, but it’s seriously the worst superpower ever if it turns out to be the case – she may have kept trying her whammy on Nathan, but he kept not doing what she wanted him to do.
Bob walked by and looked at Uhura’s granddaughter whose name I’m blanking on – and Uhura didn’t look at him. Furthermore, the black woman in the group photo doesn’t look anything like Uhura, and they knew they’d cast Nichelle when the photo was taken. Don’t think Uhura was in the Superfriends.
After Adam discovered his healing powers, Hiro found him cutting his arm and watching it heal. I think that monkeywrench clubbed your theory over the head and killed it.
One thing I’m wondering, can Peter absorb the Haitian’s power blocking ability? And what does Mama Petrelli have over the Haitian? He seems to be playing both sides of the fence with Noah and Bob, but he’s only really expressed loyalty to Mama Petrelli out loud.
GES
I don’t think Nathan flew when Peter was around, but Peter seemed to pick up his power. Peter said that he levitated before we knew that Nathan could fly.
Also, I think people are trying too hard to see a power in Momma Petrelli, especially an inept persuasion power.
Oh.
Well.
Never mind then.
Killjoy.
Peter absorbed Nathan’s power unconsciously and I think the prevailing theory is that he also unconsciously absorbed some sort of dream power from Papa Deveaux, which is why he started dreaming that he could fly (cue R. Kelly). In most instances Peter’s either had to know he’s absorbed an active power to use it or he’s used the power instinctively. Neither seems to apply to DL. Although I suppose neither really applies to Claude either.
