Just got through rewatching the episode on nbc.com (Great Og, I love broadband!). I’m pretty sure it was a necklace, since he was wearing a collarless shirt.
Of course, I hadn’t even noticed the glyph at all before y’all mentioned it. :smack: Color me oblivious.
And he is deliciously evil, isn’t he? In episode two, didn’t he actually have a tear in his eye when he said, “yes, it does break my heart,” after watching the tape of his daughter? And this week, he might well have been monitoring his daughter’s activities - almost certainly is; let her get date-raped, took her to a secret lab, and performed an autopsy on her. Ew!
Noooooooo! I like him! He’s so sappy & sympathetic. Poor guy. He just loves his big brother. Idol-worships him even. All he wants is his respect and he thought he’d finally earn it by having powers. Then his adorable but big ol’ meany brother goes & tells the news he’s got emotional problems and tried to commit suicide.
I am convinced after last night’s episode that Hiro is doomed. His powers are essentially a deus ex machina (“Something bad happened? Let me just pop back in time five minutes and undo it! And if I fail, I’ll just keep trying!”) and he’s the only person who is even remotely enjoying his abilities. In a post-modern take on superheroes this equals dead character. The most powerful characters are taken out to demonstrate that god-like power doesn’t make them unstoppable and anyone with special abilities is supposed to be miserable and self-loathing. Look for Syler to telekinetically pop his head off like a champange cork with no warning at the end of an episode during a sweeps period.
Hey, if they kill Hiro they’re going to kill their ratings. The only characters I care much about are Hiro and the psychic cop, whose name I don’t even know. I just know I like him.
There is certain dialogue that I can accept in comic form, but hearing it come out of the mouth of a real life actor? It sounds so stilted. Plus, there is too MUCH dialogue. Good screenwriting tells a story without beinf so…TALKY!
There is a problem with over-explaining in this series. Too many long monologues explaning what is going on around them.
Eden. I agree she is a plant. One other thing that bothered me. Just because you have a spare set of keys from the previous tenant does not mean you can open the door of the new tenant.
levdrakon- C’Mon. He doesn’t understand why his brother might be frustrated with him talking LOUDLY in his congressional campaign office about being able to fly? Dudes a nutjob!
His scenes annoy me most of all.
In order of enjoyment:
Hiro (his dialogue is just as bad, but it is more acceptable because I read it and not hear it. Plus the guy makes me laugh.)
Cop/Sylar
Cheerleader
Artist
Ali Larter
Professor Overexplainer
Opening Credits
Commercials
DVR Fast Forward Screen
The playdough sculpture my kid made
Test of the emergency broadcast system
Murse guy
Oh, have your never read a comic book? No matter how powerful you are, you can always be knocked unconscious, or be otherwise occupied, or be too exhausted, or have someone deactivate your powers. Whatever the writers need.
I vote for boxing stuff that’s in the previews. I wish shows would stop doing previews altogether. I don’t need enticement to keep tuning in, and lately, it seems that previews give away too much. Or, as was the case with Deadwood, they’re totally misleading.
Previews didn’t use to bother me but I recently realized I’d rather be surprised.
I don’t think you need to get familial consent for an autopsy if it appears a crime has been committed–just for malpractice and so forth. It might vary by state, though. Depending on how fast she healed from minor abrasions, whether she still had all her clothes on, etc., her body might show signs of attempted rape and thus make the cops think of murder as well.
It does seem odd that they didn’t remove the branch before starting the rest of the autopsy. I watched it with a pathologist who commented that the autopsy appeared incomplete; her ribcage was still intact. He also said that the incision didn’t look standard (of course, this is TV we’re talking about). He was most interested in whether her organs had been removed or not. If her organs are in the buckets and she’s still alive, that’s pretty interesting.
I missed a bit of the first episode, but I get the impression that Mohindar’s been chased around a bit by EvilDad and Company, and that his father’s apartment was ransacked(?) and almost bugged. So what makes him think it’s a good idea to take up residence there?
(Granted, if I had that particular neighbor, I’d probably be willing to live in a death trap too, but that’s largely beside the point.)
I vote for not having to spoiler box things the day after they’ve aired. Haven’t seen the show yet? Don’t read the freakin’ thread with the date right there in the thread title!
However, spoilers from other websites, interviews, or other sources of not-broadcast-as-part-of-the-show should be spoilered on account of being, you know, spoilers, even for people who have seen the episode.
Oh, I definitely noticed her. I was wrapped up in the show and didn’t think about it too much. It could be she was just the girlfriend who spots her boyfriend leaving with another girl. But you’re right, there could be much more to it. Maybe she’s connected to Evil Dad, and the look on her face was “good, everything’s going according to plan.”
Quarterback’s girlfriend? I don’t know. I can’t decide if she looked angry or worried. She’d be angry if she was his girlfriend, but worried if she was a prior victim of the guy.
I wonder if the girl taking the credit for the fire rescue will be mistaken for Claire at some point.
Didn’t they show this girl in, I think, the 1st ep? Well, now that I think about it, she was in the 2nd one as well. The only scene I vaguely remember her in was when Claire was looking longingly at QB, and the camera dude was walking with her. The QB dude looked at Claire and while the girl you mentioned was talking to QB dude. She gave the look of: “Get away from my man, you skank whore!” She was shown in passing in the 2nd ep, I believe, in one of the hallway scenes. Sorry for being less than exact, it’s time for my afternoon siesta.
