Heroes 11/20 - "Homecoming"

I was thinking the same thing. Unless Mohinder’s family has lived abroad, I don’t buy into the fact that they’d converse in English with each other.

Apparently I’m the only one who was expecting near closure with last nights ep. I understand that the show is a full season, and more than likely [It’s NBCs only Hit show, and doing gangbusters at that.] will return in some form next year. I only thought that a ‘new’ arc would reveal itself.

NBC said on no like terms "Find out what ‘Save the Cheerleader, Save the World’ " means tonight. I’m still waiting. I didn’t grasp how the world was is in peril, or why Claire was the answer to it.
Overall, for me, a SLOW episode. after a lot of the same slowness from previous eps. This show is begining to eat up time fast than Howie and DOND.

I guess you have to suspend your disbelief a little for the sake of the show. I don’t know about you, but I would prefer NOT have to read subtitles for a third of the show just to add some realisim. Are you the type that complains that aliens in Star Trek should not be able to speak English as well? I wouldn’t call it sloppy writing. It makes the deeper thoughts and subtleties easier for the viewers to absorb.

Hiro and Ando’s conversations are often pretty light, and easy to read. Most of the crap going on in India is pretty dramatic, soul searching, stuff that would be lost somehow in translation to subs. Since the actors are Indian and they are speaking perfect English, I guess I see no problem with it at all. Nor will I have a problem with Hiro speaking better English later in the show.

um, no, ambulance drivers tend not to use handcuffs. The police have Peter.

They work for AED; they went to reel him in.

Excellent question, and well worth tuning in for next week.

Here’s the thing about the subtitles: Hiro and Ando are cute and funny and interesting, so people want to know what they’re saying. The scenes and characters in India are boring and do little to advance the story. Put subtitles on them and everyone starts channel surfing, leaving the room in search of snackage, etc.

A couple of people have said that in these threads but I have no memory of Peter saying it.

I don’t think Peter can automatically sense other powered people. Otherwise, he would have known that his own brother was powered before jumping off a roof assuming he could fly on his own.

Random Thoughts (By Moe Siszlak)

I’ll tell you that India has a tight nit community. Everyone knows everybody else.

Mohinder only had tow walk a short while with a picture asking if anyone knows the boy before he finds someone who does.

Ok maybe that is supposed to be after an hour or so, but really. Ok maybe he knew the kid’s neighbourhood from his fathers old notes… But street urchins don’t usually have a fixed address. This kid must really like the soccer there.

So they Saved the Cheerleader finally those annoying commercials will stop. What next… “Bail out the Nurse save the world?”

“Get the painter off the smack save the the Universe”

Anyone else sick of people with super knowledge (Time travellers/ dream invaders) Being so #$%^@ vague all the time.

A straight answer would be a welcome surprise for a change.

What is with the dinner by the way. An employee is murdered, the police coem in to investigate and they remain open and let guests in and out for teh rest of teh night. Uhhhh… ok. Sure I guess the best way to overcome greif is to stay working and the best way to secure a crime scene is to not secure a crime scene.

But wait maybe Hiro changed time and she didn’t die that day. Fine, So why wouldn’t his partner’s memory also change? (IS that his power?!?! I have teh amazing ability to not be affected by time shifts)

If Hiro changed time he shouldn’t need to go back and we have the classic time paradox. My head hurts

This was an ok episode, but it really didn’t go anywhere. We still have a dozen or so mini episodes running like some soap opera that are vaugly connected.
There is enough to keep me coming back for another kick but it’s flaws become more grating.

Regarding Hiro’s leaving Charlie six weeks ago (this is pure speculation - no spoilers), wouldn’t he have to do that for the events of the show to happen? He couldn’t just stay with her until that day in the restaurant, because then Ando wouldn’t have ever left Japan.

Of course, he could have just… gah. I told myself I wouldn’t ruin my enjoyment of this show with time travel nitpicking, so I’ll just stop there before the serious brain aches kick in.

The thing that I’m wondering about Hiro & Ando is, why is Ando the only one to realize the time stream is changing?

The thing I’m wondering about Ando is how long has he been sitting there, and at what point are other people going to think that’s kind of weird?

:smack: I should have followed this show the way I follow The Wire – watch each episode twice.

Repeat after me: * I will not believe a damn word said by the promotions department. I will not believe a damn word said by the promotions department. I will not believe a damn word said by the promotions department. I will not believe a damn word said by the promotions department. *

Yeah, it looked like he’s worked his way through an entire sugar dispenser. That’s a lot of coffee… perhaps his power will be the ability to vibrate at such high frequences that he can pass through solid objects, but first he has to drink about nineteen cups of coffee.

Or maybe to piss like a racehorse?

I’m a superhero!

Yattaaaa!

:stuck_out_tongue:

See, that’s why I think that Hiro went back in time and caused Charlie to get killed earlier. Did you see the floral tribute that was laid out for her? Would that have sprung up in the time that Ando’s been sitting there? Looks more like something that co-workers or customers would’ve put together after a couple of days and then added on as days went by. We know Hiro vanished out of Charlie’s life “a few weeks ago” but nothing more specific yet.

And I have a feeling there’s gonna be some wanky explanation for Ando remembering the original timeframe, like, being next to Hiro when he constiported made him immune or some shit. Not sure I’ll be happy with the explanation but I’m expecting it.

This is easier to do if you call them ‘Promo Monkeys’ like we do in the Survivor threads.

Sufficient caffeine and sugar make you able to see multiple timelines. I thought everyone knew that.

A couple of people have suggested that Peter’s arrest will lead to his being interviewed by Matt the telepathic cop. That would be pretty cool, because it could be totally non-verbal: those two just reading each other’s minds. With the blonde FBI agent sitting by saying “Hey! Are you gonna share anything with the non-superheroes in the room, fellas?”
