Heroes 11/27 - "Six Months Ago" (spoilers)

Since they showed Charlie’s death at the hands of Sylar again after Hiro got involuntarily constiported, that aspect of the timeline at least didn’t change. There’s no reason to believe that Charlie would have given up any sooner in the altered timeline than she did in the original timeline so no reason to believe she died of natural causes. Since Hiro had to take a bus to get back to the diner and Ando (and where did he catch that bus? Tokyo?) that would allow, in the altered timeline, for there to have been at least a couple of days that Ando was stuck at the diner while Hiro was en route from wherever he caught the bus. So the timeline would now be that Hiro showed up at the diner six months ago alone, he and Charlie fell in love, Hiro vanished some weeks later, then Ando arrived at the diner alone on the day Charlie was killed and Hiro showed back up a couple of days later.

And happy elves dance on the grave of Continuity.

Sorry about the multiple posts but it is a lot easier than cuting, pasting and coding into one big post. I’m barely a two finger typist.

I’m surprised no one mentioned Niki. Again the show proves to be a lot more logical than some of the wild theories. Niki did not absorb anyone. Her sister is not living in her. Jessica was their father’s punching bag. When she was killed Niki became the target. As a method to cope she developed a multiple personality disorder. Whenever she was abused “Jessica” took the damage so the Niki personality didn’t have to. Unfortunately for everyone the screwed up personality has access to her powers. What those are still seem unclear to me. Is she just strong and fast or is there something else?

Tell the elves to sit down - Why was Ando there in the first place if not in the company of Hiro? And if he had been there alone, how did he know to wait for Hiro? Unless Ando, being so close to Hiro, is also immune to time shifts - he notices when things are different.

What I don’t get is why didn’t he tell himself (on the phone call) what was going on? If Hiro believes in this sort of thing (which he obviously does since back in episode one we see him trying to tamper with time) there’s every reason to believe he would have listened to time-jumped Hiro and given him the benefit of the doubt. That phone call could have been the catalyst for Hiro’s obsession with time bending, had a conversation actually taken place.

He was afraid of destroying the space-time continuom, as evidenced by his reaction to hearing his own voice (Great Scott!). Hiro, like us, learned all that he knows about time travel from Christoper Lloyd.

Ahhh… I think you’ve got it. Finally it makes some sense.

I enjoyed the Hiro and Sylar stories this week. (poor C.S.I. coroner guy…) Matt’s was pointless this week, Eden’s and Nathan/Peter were predictable, and I’m really getting tired of Niki. If she’s the one to bite it next week, I won’t be shedding any tears.

Question: Is Sylar a real watch brand? Also, how do we know Sylar’s watch is broken?

Here’s a suggestion for who bites it next week – Isaac. We’ve already seen him dead by Sylar’s hands and right around this time (at least as far as I can keep track of the timeline).

If it’s not Isaac, I’d bet on the Haitian for the reasons above (he’s the way they’re keeping Sylar prisoner), and then TelepaCop, Nathan, and GhostDad, in that order.

I think D.L. might be the one to bite it next week. He’s had a rifle pointed at his heart for two weeks now.

I loved the shoutout they gave to the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin (where they were supposedly having a 24-hour samurai film festival). In his downtime from being a hero, Hiro should make that theater his home away from home.

That was so freakin’ cool. The Alamo’s one of the things I miss the most, now that I live up here in the frozen north.

I have to say I had a laugh last night at the expense of Eden. When we first discovered her power, I told my wife she was a horse whisperer. After it was pointed out here, and last weeks demonstration of her power, that she is a Bene Geserit witch. Last nights traffic stop had George Lucas writing her script.
Telecop: Licence and registration please.
Eden/ObiWan: You don’t need to see my licence and registration
TC: Get out of the car please
E/OW: These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.
TC:…
E/OW: Get back in your car and leave.
TC: You can go about your business. Move along, move along…

And after last weeks discussion of her ears, can I nominate Eden to be called Yoda?
A couple of questions though…
Ambiguously Evil Dad is already aware of/creating the supers, but why does he want his doughters name off the list? She hasn’t shown any powers yet, has he already met prognostipainter?
Hiro went back to save the waitress, but she got an aneurism instead of getting done in by Sylar. Did Hiros temporal distortion cause her illness? I thought he lost his power when he appeared back in Tokyo, but it seems that his new timeline meant that he was back home from using his plane ticket.

He knew already that she had powers. In one episode, Claire’s mom spoke of the “chromosome” problem she had as a child that her dad was investgating. It was implied that Dad knew she had a “gift” at an early age.

Also, he was not surpised in the least regarding her quick recovery of a nasty cut. Nor did she get stiches for an otherwise “stich-requiring” cut.

Sorry, that would be stitch and stitches.

Under Mohimbo’s (oh damn, there I go inventing another nickname, sorry) closing narration the shot of Charlie getting her noggin cracked open was shown again, so she was not killed by the aneurism. She was still killed by Sylar. She clearly had been ill long before Hiro showed up the second first time because she talked to him about giving up, so Hiro did not cause her illness.

Aren’t there stiches that dissolve after a while? If Claire got those kind of stiches then her accelerated healing may have caused them to deteriorate. Or maybe the wound was closed with surgical glue? Fanwanky, I know.

I think Mr Bennet is aware of the supers because whatever agency he is working for has known for a long time. At least since around the time Claire was born. He knew Claire’s parents were different and he knew to expect the same from Claire. You can assume whoever he is working for has a bunch of Sureshes working on it. Papa wasn’t the first to find out, he was just foolish enough to publish a book.

She still died by cranial can opener. They replayed it again to prove it. She was sick before Hiro got there. Hiro did not lose his power, he just couldn’t use it in the fashion he wanted to. Apparently the cosmos has a self-correcting feature that will allow him to change things like meeting Charlie 6 months early but won’t allow him to keep her from dying.

As I understand it, AED became aware and then began investigating super beings 16 years ago when something went horribly wrong with Claire’s birth parents. So he’s always been expecting she might develop abilities but it wasn’t until Claire cut her hand and coincidentally enough right after his meeting with Papa Suresh he had it confirmed.

AED sure loves his Claire-bear. Did you see that pile of teddy bears on her bed? That made me laugh. “You’re probably too old for these silly bears I bring you.” “Oh, no I like them.” ::adds bear to huge pile accumulating on her bed::

Yeah, I said the same thing. (I just watched it, since I had class last night). When she said, “Go eat a dozen donuts” I was thinking, “These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.” :stuck_out_tongue:

I forgot about the scene at the end, the ‘re-cap’ if you will… but I’m not sure that that was how it was intended… probably the only one they had available that was already established…

My point is the picture didn’t change, at that point the other folks at the diner knew hiro, and there was a memorial… assuming that it was the same day that hiro got off the bus, (we don’t know how much time ando stood waiting) then I maintain that ‘something else’ happened to Charlie, earlier in time than that day.

The stress of Hiro disapearing could cause Charlie to really give up…other stressers could’ve caused the brain thing to bust… or it all happened as it was originally supposed to, except that Hiro wasnt there to meet charlie in the first place (or second place?.. gahhh my head!)

Ando knew that Hiro teletimeported out, and was surprised that he had to take the bus back…

I think what I am saying is that yeah, Charlie is still dead… but Hiro still changed aspects of the timeline… while not being able to save Charlie, its still not for sure that he didn’t change the manner or timing of her death…

I like that Sylar killed his first victim with a quartz crystal, the thing that all electric watches are based on.

And those bears are from the “bears from around the world” collection or something like that. AED travels a lot, probably visiting “specials” all over the place.

There’s the fact that the ‘Previously on Heroes’ voiceover has twice referred to him as “The Face of Evil.” But he’s definitely ambiguous about it.

I think that Sylar will definitely kill whoever dies next week, so it’ll be either Eden, Isaac, or the Haitian, since they are the powered folks that hang around Mr. Bennett’s secret base. Unless he somehow gets a lead on Ted and gets there before Homeland Security (because I agree that he’s going to take Ted’s power at some point).

My money’s on Isaac. Almost all of his prophetic paintings have come true (mostly, with important differences) already. ‘Hiro and Ando under the homecoming banner’ seems to have been eliminated from the timeline entirely. ‘The Destruction of New York City’ and ‘The Fire-Being’ seem to be in the future.

Unless he learns how to paint the future without the drugs in the first half of the next ep, Isaac’ll be the most plot-superfluous character when Sylar needs to off someone.

Sylar’s ability seems really poorly defined. If he can see what’s different about superpeople’s brains just by standing next to them, why does he need to open their heads? Even if he can see the difference, how does that allow him to alter his own brain? Could he give powers to someone else if he wanted to, once he knows what ‘repairs’ to make?

Also, are they going to tell us why he killed Charlie in the kitchen where she’d be discovered almost immediately? Either he’s accelerating his killing and getting sloppy as serial killers are said to do, or he can do it so fast that he only needs seconds. If the latter, why did he take so long with Jackie? In fact, if he can sense the superness of a brain, why did he start to extract Jackie’s? He should have known she was the wrong cheerleader before he started the telekinetic incision.

Someone upthread asked what other powers Sylar has taken on. While we don’t know who he got it from, it seems clear now that he has some sort of cold power. He also, apparently, now has Charlie’s photographic superprocessor ability.
