I thought there was then continued dialogue indicating that Nathan lost his power and that Peter only started flying after that happened. Sequential flight rather than concurrent.
And apropos of nothing, a thought popped into my head last night: Niki and Jessica. Lachey and Simpson? Any history between Tim Kring and Jessica Simpson that would make for a juicy story behind those name choices?
May be; I don’t have the show recorded and NBC.com only puts up the current episode. However, in one of the previews,
Nathan says something like, “Want to see how fast we can fly, Pete?” Quoting from memory, but he was asking Peter to fly with him.
So I guess we’ll find out eventually.
Checking the TWOP recap, the dialogue is quoted as
So it’s ambiguous as to whether Nathan lost his powers or not when Peter gained them.
I don’t think Peter steals the powers, only copies them. If so why didn’t Nathan drop like a rock and end up in the hospital, too?
Off topic: Someone hinted nicely at it but the hint wasn’t taken, so I will be a bit more direct. Would you please take the Jesus vs Anal probes hijack to another thread and stop discussing it here? I don’t want a moderator to end up closing this thread.
Thank you.
Sorry. Had he/she not posed it as a question, I probably wouldn’t have said a word.
Another thing about Nathan. He whined to Peter the only thing his power is good for is rescuing cats from trees.
But is that true? While flying he can; somehow see and breath at high speed and/or doesn’t need to breath, somehow keep his clothes on, not freeze, survive ridiculously sudden accelerations, and land on gravel in his bare feet.
He may not be invulnerable while flying, but this added durability must come in useful for something other than saving cats.
Also, I’m curious if his powers would enable him to “fly” underwater? That could be useful.
Nathan needs to put a little more thought into what his powers can do.
The protection Nathan has might be a result of using his flying power and not something that is constantly going for him. Skidding on the gravel did hurt his feet after all. Whatever lifts him could protect him. I don’t think he’s gone high enough to worry about temperature since his flight looked to be a few thousand feet at best. Enough to be uncomfortable in pajamas but not enough to worry about breathing or freezing to death.
Having the wind blow by you at a thousand miles per hour causes some heating issues I’d imagine.
I think his added protection only works when he’s using his flying power, but flying at supersonic speeds even at a warm, low altitude would have to be really hard on his ability to see and breath, and it would have to be cold. Humans can’t handle the kind of acceleration he’s capable of. Landing on gravel seemed to be the equivalent of walking on hot pavement, but it should have ground his feet up pretty good.
As much as I’d like his PJ’s to fly off I’ll give them a pass on that one. Most super heroes manage to keep a decent amount of their clothes intact no matter what their power is. I mean c’mon, the Hulk should totally be naked. Why does his shirt fall off but not his pants?
