I rather strongly suspect that Niki has access to the abilities as well but but she developed a split personality to deal with them.
Also, when Peter met Isaac the first time and then later drew the future, it came out as stick figures. But having Isaac stand next to him the whole time, Peter was able to paint with Isaac’s skill. Might be something to that.
Umm, no, the part of the painting Peter did sucked. It helped to have the whole rest of it there, and more of Isaac’s work in the studio, to compare, but Peter didn’t get much (if any) painting skill.
I’d agree with that… Isaac’s power is not painting, it’s in ‘seeing’ the future… that is the power that Peter grokked onto… Isaac just has a most excellent way of demonstrating his power.
Huh? Someone who can only draw stick figures doesn’t suddenly complete someone else’s painting unless it’s filled with little numbers & outlines.
Isaac’s power is to paint the future while layering his own artistic style over it. If Isaac’s power is simply seeing the future, Peter needn’t have finished the painting. He could have just seen what was going to happen.
Neither of them has any knowledge of the future which hasn’t been drawn or painted. AFAICT, they don’t even remember doing the drawing or painting until it’s done. Isaac blames it on being high, but Peter seemed pretty out of it too.
You’re being illogical about this. He said it in a faux-alien voice. There’s no one on the planet that could take him seriously. It was a joke - not a threat - and hence, why would anyone read it as offensive?
You’re playing it up as a serious threat, something we should be legitimately offended about, as opposed to the religious thing, which you find silly. But that’s ridiculous - there’s nothing offensive about, except maybe to people who actually have been anal probed by aliens. ( )
Okay, so we have two issues:
A clearly joking buy in a faux-alien voice saying the words “anal probe” - this, you feel, should be more offensive than:
A fundamental sin against the most important, core beliefs of millions of people, dealing with a subject that is by its nature is more important than anything that can happen in the real world from the perspective of the people that would get offended.
You apparently feel that the first one should be regarded as more offensive than the second.
Now, I have no dog in this fight - I think religious people are silly - but I can see why committing a fundamental sin in regards to something someone feels extremely strongly about is more offensive than an obvious silly joke. I really don’t think you have any ground to stand on here.
Question to ponder:
Did Nathan know he could fly earlier?
No, I feel that neither of them should be offensive at all. I was just bemused by the mixed messages being sent out by this one broadcasting company.
Oh well, wrong thread, wrong forum, I guess. Never mind.
shrug
I think you’re inventing the mixed messages in your head. There’s nothing logically inconsistent with what they did, for reasons I stated.
would make a great topic in a separate thread.
I seem to recall Nathan saying, “We both flew.” Which I read to mean they were flying together, at the same time. I could be wrong.
Micah was at Niki’s friend’s house some distance away when all this was going on. It’s his phone call to Niki to come and get him that wakes her up. Then she discovers the dead guys. It’s on the way to get Micah that she discovers the messed up video. I don’t think he did it.
Can someone who has it recorded go back and check something?
There was a scene, towards the beginning, where someone is reading a paper or something of that sort.
I thought I saw an article, with accompanying photo, that said something about a Meteor or Comet coming towards the Earth. I could be wrong, of course.
But if that’s what she’s supposed to stop, I’m not sure how that’ll work, unless the Flying Congressman flys her up there, and then uses her as a catching mitt. Hehehe…
It was a weather forcast predicting clear skies for the eclipse. However, the eclipse referenced happpened in the first episode, and so that opening scene turned out to be a dream with flashback elements. “Coincindentaly,” Peter’s former patient died after reporting flying around with his friend and former nurse, Peter.
It’s about a minute or so into the first clip at about 4.56 minutes (clips count down). It’s a story about a pending eclipse.
I’m having no luck getting that sucker to play. Excessive traffic?
I got one thing to say: the flying shot at the opening of the show was the East river, just north of the Queensborough bridge. It just missed showing my old building.
There are no mixed messages. TV stations lose profit by offending viewers enough that they lose them. A joke about alien anal probes isn’t going to lose anyone - committing blasphemy towards the major religion in the country of the audience might.
And even besides that - anal probe stuff isn’t offensive. There’s no reason for it to be. It’s an obvious joke. However, I guess some people find people using “Jesus” as an interjection extremely offensive in a very fundamental way.
There’s essentially no logic to what you’re saying. Because a joke about alien probes is okay, saying “Jesus” should be too? The only logical position you can be holding that I can see is that if “anal probe” is okay, then everything should be okay - because there is no direct hypocritical or correlative relationship between “anal probe” and “Jesus” (did I just type that sentence?) . They have nothing to do with each other, and so you’re drawing hypocrisy where there’s no logical reason to - unless it’s your argument that saying something at all must logically make saying everything permissible.
I have no idea what your thought process is on this one, and I can’t see one, other than a jab at religious people. But you can make that jab without making an illogical connection as you seem to be now.
You might as well have said “They let people say “ice cream” on TV, but they won’t let them say “Jesus!”?” - your observation makes about as much sense to me.
It won’t play for me using my regular browser. Not sure why but I have lots of blockers activated.
I tried it using Firefox and it worked though.
