you mean, aside from the fact that what I posted was a direct quote? He may have been kidding, but he said the words. My point comparing this to Studio 60 is not that someone was going to be raped, but that one hour later, they were portraying a fictional TV show in which it was forbidden to take The Lord’s name in vain, but here’s a teenaged boy using the words “anal probe”. This culture needs an enema.
This just came to me now even though it’s a plot point addressed in last week’s episode.
ikiN (aka Jessica) is a personality that’s there to protect Niki. Whether that’s her only goal is unknown, but she seems to come out whenever Niki’s threatened and solve the dilemmas (albiet through gruesome means).
Well Niki owed Linderman $50,000. ikiN knows they have $2,000,000 at their disposal hidden away in the house. Niki’s being shaken down, constantly harassed, forced into the life of an amatuer online porn star, and nearly raped by Linderman’s gang. All over the $50,000 that ikiN knows they can take care of easily. So why didn’t she?
The only possible problem with the AED = Linderman theory is that Nathan apparently knows Linderman. At the very least, his father did. But the scene between Nathan, AED, and Mindwipe Guy didn’t show any hints that they knew each other. In fact, that scene appeared to indicate that they hadn’t met.
Questions about AED = Linderman:
When did Linderman buy the painting?
Did it seem like AED already knew about the paiter when his pixie agent called him?
Didn’t think about that. Could also have easily paid off the tuition. It’s either a big honking plot hole or evil doppleganger’s agenda does not include stripper Niki’s welfare, which makes no sense as she appears to be the default host. Very good point.
Umm, guys, Lindermann knows (or thinks, anyway) that D.L. took the money. If he sends some thugs around to shake Niki down for the money, she says “sure” and hands them $20,000 in cash, in addition to having already paid the money for IncrediBoy’s tuition, well, let’s say things wouldn’t necessarily have turned out much different…
If Linderman had the bills from the $2,000,000 noted or marked in some way (serial numbers, whatever) then Jessica’s using that money to pay him would’ve been quite a huge mistake. Plus, when Niki was offered the out of sleeping with Captain Congress, neither Niki nor Micah was in direct physical danger, which has been when Jessica is most likely to emerge. I suspect Jessica has a deeper agenda and that paying off Linderman or paying Micah’s tuition isn’t part of it.
Plus, by not paying off Linderman with his own cash she got to nail Adrian Pasdar, which is a definite win-win.
Yeah, I was going to mention that, too…
Anybody have a problem with Niki & D.L. owning or living in a house, paid for by his $30K salary, and continuing to be paid for by her website, that has a pool? Also, if the cops have been parked outside her house for a couple days waiting for D.L. to show up, even if they’ve left, how stupid is it for them to go have brunch out on the patio where any neighbor looking out a second-story window can see?
Also, if the kid said Hiro’s comic book wasn’t out yet, where did his copy come from? Is it a previous issue compared to Hiro’s? If so, what’s in it?
Good point. But it’s also possible that Linderman is a front and working for someone else. AED may not actually be Linderman but could be behind Linderman in some way. Also, just because Nathan’s dad knows him doesn’t mean Nathan has met him. Didn’t he ask when he would meet Linderman when he went to Vegas? Maybe he has only spoken with him on the phone?
Thinking about it more, though. it would be odd for AED (if he were Linderman) to send thugs to rough up Niki unless he wanted to see what she could do and was confident she would survive and didn’t give a fudge about the thugs. We haven’t seen evidence yet that AED actually kills people or sends them to be killed by someone else.
There are plenty of older houses here in Vegas that have pools that are reasonably affordable (or were several years ago, before the housing price run-up). I have no idea how old Micah is supposed to be, but if Niki and DL bought the house when he was a baby, or even before she got pregnant… I can buy it.
Barely.
Or, how about flying the Cheerleader to wherever Radioactive Head is so that she can do her pain/injury tolerance thing in some way?
Clearly, Claire (heh) is vital to the saving of New York. It may be that she’ll be the only one who can survive getting close to the Radioactive Dude when he starts to go critical.
Of course, if Syler is a power-thief, as has been theorized, RD will be dead, and it’ll be Syler who’ll be going thermonuclear on the Big Apple.
Hiro brought back his comic from the future. Micah has the current or a previous issue.
Was just talking over theories with a co-worker that follows the show. She thinks that “Save the cheerleader, save the world” means keeping Syler from stealing Claire’s power. If he were indestructible, he’d be much, much more of a threat.
This made me realize the problem with my earlier guess: if no one can get close to the radioactive guy, Syler won’t be able to take that power (unless he gets Claire’s power first). It just seems way to subtle and lacking in a flashy climax for the heroes to protect the cheerleader in Texas, thus preventing any danger from ever appearing in New York.
Maybe Syler will wear a lead suit to take the radioactive ability. Then Nathan will have to fly Claire high above him, and drop her like a bomb. She’ll break every bone in her body, get up after 5 minutes, and take down Syler.
Naw. That doesn’t give everyone else much to do. Isn’t wild, uncontrolled speculation fun?
Jessica seems much more street smart than Niki. It’s one thing to pay cash for a car and stash it somewhere, but it would be incredibly foolish to risk Linderman’s thugs (or anyone) suspecting even for a second Niki recently came into $30K in cash when Linderman already thinks DL stole $2 Million from him.
It’s probably one of those Strange Tales kind of comics which feature completely different stories each month. That’s how Dr. Strange was originally introduced. It was a way to feature different super heroes you weren’t ready to dedicate a whole comic too. Anyone catch the name of the comic? Micah probably had for instance, issue #32 which was about something completely different, and knew #33 wasn’t on the stands yet.
Regarding AED & Linderman; I don’t think they’re one and the same. I have a feeling perhaps they’re uneasy contemporaries of a sort. AED is part of a powerful organization pursuing an agenda which involves super beings, and Linderman is a powerful organization probably also pursuing an agenda involving super beings. Surely Linderman’s connection to the father of two super powered brothers goes deeper than a casual organized crime relationship.
I’m still curious how AED was able to stroll into Linderman’s hotel unmolested. Could be Linderman just isn’t ready to take on AED and his organization.
Also, why would AED buy only one painting from Isaac when he clearly can have them all if he feels like it?
As far as the bomb in NY, I think the only way they can stop it is by working together. If there’s one, critical player I’d say it’s Peter and his ability to potentially use multiple powers at once. But to do that, he’ll need the other heroes near him.
Not only that, but in the graphic novel, didn’t she also rip open a safe with her bare hands?
Ayup.
Or take them from others? Does he just adopt theirs, or does he usurp them? If it’s the latter, he could negate someone else’s power.
Isn’t the only comic title we’ve seen Ninth Wonder!?
Or it could be that Linderman is completely unaware of EAD and his machinations.
It hasn’t been firmly established but when Nathan caught Peter, Nathan stopped flying and Peter started. Whether that means Peter always takes powers away or whether he just didn’t know how to control it, who knows.
Micah’s collection includes multiple comics - 9th Wonders and DJ Doom are the only ones I managed to catch.
DJ Doom seems to be guest-starring the Creeper in the issue Micah was showing DL.
