Heroes 11/6 "Nothing to Hide"

On the DNA/RNA segments, perhaps each one is a part of a bigger strand? That is if you combine them all, in the right order and the right ones ( i’m sure some of them are “evolutionary deadends”), you get the Ultimate Super-Being.

Yes?

[Cardassian] It could just be a recipe for biscuits.[/Cardassian]

For all we know, it’s a recipe for biscuits.

Dammit!

I turned to my husband right after this scene and asked, “Honey, if you found a videotape hidden in your sisters jacket, do you think you’d watch it?”

After a short discussion we both decided that was, far and away, the ickiest point of the whole episode.

I’ll take a few charred corpses over the idea of some kid trying to watch his sister’s potentially amateur porn film any day. Icky.

By inadvertantly giving her tetanus, we can now save the cheerleader (thereby saving the world) through a tetanus shot.

And how lame was it that Claire didn’t even try to hide her regenerative powers? She’s the one making a big deal about it being secret… just leave the staple in your hand and cover it with your other hand.

At least Claire pretended it hurt. Previously, no injury has seemed to cause pain, so she must have been acting when she yelled that the staple hurt.

A poor episode. Treading water with little plot advancement and few good lines (and a lot of bad ones). Matt was an exception, but he was left out of the previous episode completely.
There does seem to be supers popping up everywhere, though, I like that.

I seem to recall a few other instances where Claire made wincey pain faces, so pending further review my theory is that if she knows the injury is coming then she can dull or lessen the pain but that unexpected injuries don’t give her time to prepare.

It was really stupid the way the blood jumped back into the staple holes. But I guess that explains why she didn’t have blood all over her hand after mangling it in the [del]In-Sink-erator[/del] Garba-Chop.

Actually, I would probably watch my adopted sister’s amateur porn tape… if she looked like Claire. I would also thank my parents every day for adopting her.

Or, more likely, ‘Versa.’ Or possibly just ‘Nissan.’

Not every episode can be edge-of-your-seat filled with jaw-dropping revelations. I don’t mind the occasional “breather” episode like this and it’s still some of the best TV on. Besides, there was some satisfying stuff.

Telepacop finding out his wife is cheating was cool. Will he finally drop her or will he live up to his name; (door) Matt. I think he needs to grow a spine and hook up with the FBI agent.

Claire’s story provided mild comic relief. Ditzy mom confirmed AED gets around by plane, apparently. I’m increasingly convinced mom has had her brains scrambled by Eurodude and if little brother isn’t careful, he’s going to end up like mom.

I’m not sure that Claire actually feels pain, but she’s capable of being startled. It’s not uncommon for people to reflexively say “ow” when startled by something they thought was going to hurt but didn’t.

When I was that age if I’d found a tape of either my older brother or sister I’d have watched it in a heartbeat. Any dirt you can get on an older sibling is gold. The fact that older sister is “in charge” when mom and dad aren’t home just makes it even more critical you get leverage.

I like Micah. There. I said it. I was opposed to having another obnoxious Kid Genius running around but he’s actually a fairly cool kid. If there has to be one. Just don’t make him outsmart the adults too much, save the day with his smarts too much, or have him need to be rescued - at all.

I agree Micah probably messed with the tape but then again, what was his motivation? Why not erase the tape completely, rather than just the video?

Peter and Nathan are at least talking about the elephant in the room. I hate it when characters avoid talking about the one subject we’re all dying to hear them talk about.

Nathan is probably destined to be a hero but how is he going to redeem himself for not only sleeping around on his wife but lying right to her face and flashing her his patented big sharky grin?

I can see why Nathan wants the painting without telling Peter. He knows weird stuff really is going on, but Peter’s got leverage on him right now. “Should I fly off the balconey?” So Nathan needs a way of getting control of Peter back, as well as getting a handle on the larger situation developing.

Peter’s dream with Simone’s dad was touching. But I wonder how Peter was able to share his dream with the father? Was that a super power and if so, who’s power was it?

Radiation Guy was probably the low point of the episode. It didn’t do much for the story unless he’s the one who goes nuclear in NY. Or Sylar gets to him, steals his power and Sylar is still the one who eventually goes nuclear. It kind of reminded me of The 4400 where each week they deal with a different super being. It gets old.

It did seem Matt & Radiation Guy had identical tattoo marks. But if it has something to do with Ambiguously Evil Dad, why would AED allow him to roam free with dangerous powers?

Where’s Isaac? Next time I move, I want the number of AED’s moving company.

I’m okay with an occasional slower moving episode but there’s enough ground to cover with the concept that they don’t really need to drag the plot out indefinitely. If the previews are to be believed (yeah right) next week should advance the main plot considerably.

I’m kind of hoping that the radioactive man shows up from time to time since he’s now a good view point into the complications of superhumans. He’s killed several people but intent was not there; if you know that you’re radioactive does being around someone make it criminally negligent? He burned down a room and made the land uninhabitable, so what are they going to the first time something makes him lose control in jail? He doesn’t need to be in the main rotating cast but there’s a few more good episodes in him…

I have an interesting theory. I think AED is Linderman. Consider the evidence.

  1. Was able to walk with impunity into Nathan’s Vegas hotel room and remove Nathan with no one stopping him. They are supposedly making a video of the deed and nobody notices Nathan being kidnapped? AED would also have a motive for erasing the video, to keep Niki’s powers a secret. If he was Linderman, he would have the means to doctor the tape and keep the original.

  2. Isaiah’s paintings and kidnapping. His girlfriend/dealer told him that her buyer was only interested in the “new” paintings but boyfriend wouldn’t sell them. If AED was investigating Isaiah’s abilities, these are the paintings he would want to examine. Then she tells Peter her buyer is Linderman. After he confirms Isaiah’s powers he has him kidnapped and takes his paintings.

  3. Linderman loans Niki $50,000 with no collateral. Why would he do that? But AED would do it to keep her in one place so he could observe her actions. She seems to have developed her powers before anyone else. (Robbery was 6 mos. before where she broke into safe and killed partners.) So Linderman/Dad could have been watching her since then
(tracking device/tatoo). Also would explain how he knew where she was when cop brought her in and why he didn’t take her from the hotel room.

  4. Might explain his contribution to Nathan’s campaign even though his constituancy is in NY. Gives him more control of Nathan. Wonder if Nathan has a tatoo?

  5. We’ve never seen Linderman so it sets up the surprise when it’s revealed that it’s AED.
Why else would the writers so deliberately keep Linderman’s identity a secret unless it is someone we already know?

I know this explanation is rather disjointed, but hopefully you can figure out what I’m trying to say.

Not that I particularly care about the issue, but to answer your question - aliens doing anal probes is a joke in popular culture, something that’s harmless and silly… it’s not as if he threatened to anally rape him. Whereas The other issue involves what some people consider sacreligious to their entire core beliefs, something much more serious.

In what way would that tape have given away her powers?

Btw, did anyone else get the vibe that Nathan’s wife was essentially asking him to lie to her? She didn’t say “tell me the truth” or anything, she basically said “tell me what you said is what happened. If you say it is, I’ll believe you” - almost pleading with him rather than asking a question.

In what way would that tape have given away her powers?

Well, it would show the tatoo. Not much I know, but it would definitely show Nathan being taken away and drugged or however they kept him asleep.

So, am I the only one that thinks Radioactive Man is the potential cause of the nuclear explosion the painter forsees?

I thought his comments in the hospital room, to the effect of “you don’t know what will happen - I could take out the city” were clear references to the big explosion in NYC.

And, I always thought that it would be pretty lame to have supervillians cause destruction by setting off some more “conventional” weapon.

As far as the recording of Captain Congress and ikiN in the hotel room, we don’t know that the recorder continued to run after the deed was done. They already had the incriminating footage; additional footage fo them asleep in the bed was of no value.

As for whether it would show her tattoo, there’s no way to know since we don’t know when Niki came back. Did the tattoo show up in the moments of footage we did see? I don’t remember seeing it.

As for whether the tattoo is some sort of tracking devide, that (along with wondering if the line segments on Telepacop and Radioactive Man are tracking devices) is rank speculation.

I guess my other attempt to post didn’t go through. I hope this doesn’t end up a double post.
I actually had the same thoughts that Claire’s dad was likely to be Linderman. He does seem to have a lot of money at his disposal for being able to run all around the world tracking mutants and there was the bit with the videotaping of Nathan and Niki. If he were the man in charge, they would have stopped the taping before he went into the room or just erased him from the tape later. Otherwise wouldn’t Linderman’s people have mentioned to Nathan’s people “we noticed some guy come in and take Nathan on the video we were making to blackmail him”. Also, Linderman’s people were unconcerned about Nathan’s disappearance. You would think that had they not been involved in his disappearance they would show some concern considering what they had invested in him.

I had a thought about that last night, also tying in to Captain Congress. I may be off-base here but just in case I’m right I’m going to stake my claim to being the first to mention it.

Whether Radioactive Man ends up being the cause of the explosion or not, I think that whatever causes the explosion is going to be something that needs to be removed from the city very quickly. Say, by someone flying at supersonic speed. So I think, in the season finale, we’re going to see the exploding thing about to go off and Nathan, who made a Very Large Point of saying that all he can do is fly, grab the exploding thing and fly it out over the Atlantic, saving the city and sacrificing his life and thus redeeming himself for being such a bastard through the entire season.
