I just realized something. Telekinesis is not Sylar’s original power, yet Peter had it. This is proof that Peter can absorb poweres from Sylar that Sylar himself took. This means that Peter also has, at the very least, the ability to “see” how things work, perfect memory, and some kind of freezing ability. AFAIK, those are the only powers we know for sure Sylar had before he went to Odessa. Of course, it also seems like he not only has to remember the person he got the power from, but the power itself. He said he remembered Sylar throwing the lockers at him and that’s when he broke t he pole. If only he knew he could see and fix things, freeze things, and remember everything.
I also suspect Mohinder will catch on next episode that he is with Sylar. He got a tad “on edge” when Sylar had his little talk at the motel, and was noting the headaches and odd behavior of him when they saw Dale’s body.
Personally, I want to see if Mohinder and/or Sylar find the guy who lives in Vermont, for obvious reasons.
Apparently Peter empathetically absorbed some balls from someone, or something, cause he’s start not to act like a lost emo puppy anymore.
I don’t find his sudden mastery of his abilities to be jarring or unbelievable. He didn’t know how to go about accessing them, but once he figured it out, he could pretty much do it at will. Maybe similar to how when you’re looking for one of those hidden images within an image, you stare at it and stare at it and can’t find it… but then once you finally do see it, it’s plainly obvious and you wonder how you missed it before.
Getting repeatedly thwacked with a clue stick will do that to you.
I’m not as hung up on the voice thing. He didn’t seem to be using it in the commanding voice kinda way. He yelled and prognostipainter when flying across the room. I saw it more as a ultra-power angry yell sorta way. Kinda like when Phoenix goes all dark and sun eaty in the Marvel comics.
From this episode it looks like hero can make a small area go back in time while the rest of the world goes forward. While the bullet reversed, the gambling agent was preparing to tackle Hope. Also, just before she got tackled, it also looked like Hope thought that she had already shot and was wondering what happened.
Important lesson: Don’t try to go public about the heros!
Okay, I must have missed something. Who the heck is Wi Fi Chick who gathered up Radioactive Ted and Parker and commandeered them to break into the Bennetts? I don’t remember seeing her before.
Also, have we seen the last of the guy who Hope stole from? Wasn’t he around when Nathan was in Vegas?
And there were two different license plates flashed. Anybody catch the numbers?
She’s called Wireless, and while she has been featured heavily in the online comic lately, this was her first appearance on the show (and no, don’t worry - the online stuff is not necessary to understand/enjoy the show - it’s just fun background).
He was being arrested after the shootout, so I assume he’s done. Of course, the Vegas police force works a little differently in the Heroes world according to what we’ve seen, so who knows.
I don’t get why people are discussing Peter’s voice thing like there’s a disagreement now. You’re all saying the same thing, Otto said the same thing.
Sylar did not get Eden’s powers. The voice thing was something he did before he came in contact with Eden and Peter met Sylar before Eden. Besides if Sylar had Eden’s powers there’d be no need to lie to Mohinder. Just tell Mo that he’s going to tag along with him so he can eat all the super’s brains and Mo is going to let him. Also he could use it on all the supers, “hi there, you are going to let me crack your skull open and scoop out your brains now.”
I do think that Peter probably got the quick learner ability from Charlie via Sylar.
A few episodes ago I wondered if Simone would die. She adds too many complications, however I also didn’t see it coming this episode. They did the old bait and switch by making us think Ando would die for the entire episode and then bang.
I too, also liked super hearing woman and I was hoping she was going to hear Sylar coming and escape. I am glad that her power was causing him so much pain though. Suffer you bastard! I’m surprised Mohinder has been gullible enough to fall for his lies, that guy is just so creepy it ought to be a clue!
Yes, Peter met Sylar before Sylar met Eden. When Sylar’s voice went all deep when he was TKing SpongeMom, some people took that as evidence that Sylar had stolen Eden’s Voice. Since Peter has now gotten all deep-voicey and since he has not encountered Sylar since Eden’s death and never encountered Eden, the vocal effect has to be unrelated to Eden’s Voice.
Disagree. The creators are using it to fill in blanks that are important-to-necessary. For instance, the dispensation of Eden’s remains and the re-subdual of Sylar after her death were only dealt with in the online comic. From Eden’s death to the next episode there was a two-week jump.
Great episode, finally! I had to admit to Mr. Bunny afterwards that I’d been losing a bit of interest frankly, but after last night I’m rekindled!
Thoughts:
– Word to everyone who’s said that they can’t believe Mohinder is stupid enough to buy Sylar’s crap for too long. I, too, loved seeing the little bastard suffering with the super-hearing. Serves you right, asshat! I. HATE. Sylar. Which, I suppose, means the actor is doing a fantastic job.
– Speaking of Sylar, I was one of those awhile back who suggested that because he did the creepy-voice thing, that meant possibly he’d gotten Eden’s powers anyway. I now retract that statement, after seeing Peter do the same thing. I think it’s more of a plot device to demonstrate “I’m super powerful, and super pissed off!” Only Sylar and Peter have used it (after poor Eden ate the business end of her gun), and they are without a doubt the most powerful folks on the show.
– I love, love love love Doctor Where! Christopher Eccleston is far and away the most gifted actor on the show, and none too hard on the eyes, even when he is scummy/homeless!hero. I also loves that he continuously beats the crap out of Peter just for the hell of it. Heh.
– And speaking of Peter…woo! Go, Peter! Now that he’s matered his powers he’s become a bit of a badass, wot?
– Lastly:
So was Simone. Does that mean that the future’s been changed, or does that mean that Ando’s going to meet up with Hiro again, and Peter will go back in time to save Simone? Hmm.
I hope that since Peter is now a bad ass, he will get a haircut.
Yeah, I forgot about Simone in the future dream, Peter may go back in time to save her yet so she may not be premanently dead. Still she does add too many complications for the supers and if Hiro couldn’t save Charlie then Peter shouldn’t be able to save Simone.
I liked her too. I can’t find a credit for her, but I think it was Rusty Schwimmer, who was in the movie North Country, and was the biker lady on an episode of Six Feet Under.
Peter did meet Eden. I don’t remember the episode number, but she was at Mohinder’s place when Peter came by. She let him in, then Mohinder and Peter went off to find Isaac. That was right before he met future Hiro. There was even some speculation here that Peter had used Eden’s power to convince reluctant Mohinder to come with him.
And it was implied that Sylar met Eden earlier as well. When he’s in the cell, Eden comes in and commands him to kill himself. He says “that wonderful power, and all that time you were the girl next door.” Suggesting that he knew her when he was hanging out with Chandra Suresh.
Good point, that. It would be a shame to waste more episodes just to find out that, should Peter go back and save her, she would have died of some other ailment anyway.
Huh. Well, there you go. I had completely forgotten that. Still, I stand by my statement, because both times we’ve heard Sylar, then Peter, use The Voice, they’ve not been trying to convince anyone to do anything. They’ve just been raging, which says to me that it’s just being used at this point to make them sound really powerful. Good memory, though!
But have we seen Peter absorb a power that was not used in his presence? I can’t think of any examples. He was exposed to telekinesis, for instance, when Sylar tossed the locker doors at him. If memory serves, Claire was at least somewhat injured when Peter ran into her before he and Sylar took a dive off the balcony. I can’t remember about Isaac’s precog skills – was Peter in his presence while he used them before Peter picked up the brush and started painting?
