What rings true to me is Sylar giving Future Hiro the illusion that he is fighting Sylar, when he is actually fighting Peter (as the exploding man), so thate everyone thinks Sylar is dead.
So, Sylar was posing as Nathan for five years, and during those five years, he was the instigator of rounding up mutants and putting them in [del]buffets[/del] concentration camps?
I can totally see the show blowing up NYC. That would make for lots of juicy dramatic tension for future seasons.
I wonder if the producers/directors/writers of the show are learning why most shows like this have bibles of what has/is going on.
You know… It took me almost 2 days to say to myself “Hey, Sylar must have killed Nikki/Jessica’s husband.” When Peter was talking to Nikki in the strip club, did she give any indication as to how her husband and son had dies? I guess I assummed that they died in the explosion.
While Peter demonstrated Hiro’s ability to stop time, I still don’t think that he can time travel. Perhaps it’s because he lacks Hiro’s unbridled optimism.
Is it possible for Sylar to have been posing as Nathan for 5 years? Wouldn’t the cover be blown if the Hatian came within x feet of him?
I say NY does blow up. The only differences that Hiro makes will be who survives.
If NY blows up then what has this series been about? Nothing! C’mon–a whole season of a show that is all about avoiding a tragedy and then it happens anyway?
There is a tradition in fiction for the good guys to successfully prevent some terrible event that is thought sure to happen without their efforts. Writers can and sometimes do buck tradition, but I doubt these guys will do so to such an extent.
Isaac foresees the bomb, but that doesn’t mean that it’s inevitable. What’s the point of having clairvoyance if you can’t change the future when you don’t like it.
Besides–he can change the future! That has been shown by everything Hiro has done since he first saw the comic book. Isaac created 9th Wonder as a self-fulfilling prophesy in order to prevent the bomb. If he hadn’t Hiro wouldn’t have done any of the things he read of himself doing.
Isaac allowed himself to be sacrificed in order to ensure that the final events in the comic would come to pass. Although we weren’t shown the ending of the book, we can be sure that it does not end in holocaust or else Hiro would certainly not deliberately follow it.
Hiro has followed the comic book to the point of ensureing the events within come to pass… as you have said, all of them have done so… no reason to believe that the “big painting” (and he’s done it in other forms as well since the floor model) would not come to pass at this point.
Isaac created the comic book/paintings well before he realized he had a power, it was only after that realization that he started to try and “do something” with that knowledge, and only his last one that he sent as a “message”… it was truly only due to a twist of fate that Hiro (prime) got the damn thing, and that was in partial thanks to Hiro (future) who himself couldn’t figure out what to do with it.
Even Isaac was not sure about the big bomb, and there is no reason to think it is in the comic book (not all of his paintings were) - the only thing we can be sure of is that Isaac created the last issue with the intent of killing sylar - which from everything we know leads directly to the bomb.
Not all events have been seen by Issac, but everyone that he has painted has come to pass. (in one form or another)
Niki (just the one K) said that Micah died in the explosion. The assumption is that Sylar killed DL because Sylar phased Peter through the door (an expansion on DL’s known powers) although it’s possible that Sylar ate the brain of someone else with phasing power.
Didn’t Future Hiro say he needed “DL”, among others, when he asked Bennet to get the help of specials that he had recruited to break Present Hiro out of the facility? Might’ve even mentioned something about how he’d be useful since he could peek through walls.
Hiro wasn’t aware Bennett made a deal to turn over “dangerous” supers in exchange for keeping Claire hidden. He thought that he just got them a new life.
Anyway, as long as we’re predicting the end, let me throw in my two cents.
A “happy” ending for this season would be Hiro killing Sylar and New York not exploding. If New York doesn’t explode, though, then Linderman’s plan will go awry. He’s probably using Micah to rig the election for Nathan. New York not exploding would totally ruin his plans, so he needs Peter to blow up. The thing is, he doesn’t NEED Peter. Sylar will do just as well. I think Hiro is going to succeed and kill Sylar and chop his head off. Linderman, a super himself, will probably revive Sylar and force him to work under him. The season will end with Sylar alive (or maybe it will begin with him alive) and New York safe.
Well Hiro mentioned to Bennett in Texas that he gave him D.L. to hide (in his little speech about only wanting the addresses of those he supplied to Bennett), so it’d seem that Bennett supplied D.L. to Parkman who served him up to Sylar.
I’d assume the same thing happened to Candice.
**Edited: Next time I’ll finish the thread first :smack: **
I still think Nathan’s going to save the day. Since everyone is convinced Hiro’s gonna stab someone, I’m gonna predict this sequence. The Heroes are ranged against Sylar in an epic battle. Sylar eats Ted’s brain and gains his nuclear power. He starts charging up for the big blast when Hiro stabs him. However, the chain reaction that Sylar’s set off continues even with his wounding/near death/death. Nathan, who has taken pretty much every opportunity he can all season to point out that all he can do is fly, will swoop in, grab up the dying/dead Sylar and fly him far enough out to sea so that NYC is saved.
Oh, I wanted to add originally that they missed out potential for awesome fight scenes.
In the beginning, you see dozens of men surrounding Hiro and Peter, and you expect an awesome matrix-style fight, but then all you get is them taking out 4 guys quickly. What happened to the rest?
I guess they meant to imply that they cut away from the scene, and only showed the beginning and end of the fight, but if you listen to the TV speech in the background, it’s continuous and uncut, implying that it’s meant to be a real time/complete show of the fight. But what happened to the 20 other guys?
They also could’ve showed an epic Peter/Sylar battle.
In either case, they had the potential to create some of the coolest fights on a TV show ever, and didn’t even bother to try.
I agree that part was kind of okay, in a “battle so epic you wouldn’t really be able to understand it” sort of way. But the 20 guys surrounding them and then the fight is over mysteriously in 3 seconds thing was just a wasted opportunity.
I can forgive them. TV economics don’t allow for that. They’ve got to budget their big fights carefully, and make sure that when they do one, it’s worth it. Movies can blow the budget on fights like that.
I had a hard time looking through the 100+ posts, so forgive this one:
Peter explains that Nathan lied about who was the bomb, saying it was Sylar instead of Peter.
Sylar has already killed Nathan and assumed his identity, and has likely had Linderman killed as well.
Soulpatch Hiro didn’t know if Peter got the message because it was a little ambiguous - “what cheerleader?”- but, by the same token, he inadvertantly caused the bomb himself because Peter had the ability to regenerate after Soulpatch Hiro stabbed him.
Sorry - I was being sarcastic. I agree with you that they avoided an opportunity to show a more interesting fight, especially since they seemed to be introducing some new powers.
Has anyone figured out how Hiro, Peter and Ando got past Parkman and his buddies at the top of the elevator. We see Parkman, gun drawn, go into the elevator and it’s empty. Next scene is Hiro 2.0 walking into the interrogation room to save Hiro 1.0. Did Peter go invisible and kick butt? What about the elevator door closing dramatically on Hiro 2.0 on his way up to see Parkman?
I’ve watched it twice and I still can’t figure out what happened there.
