Bennet didn’t actually need to kill Molly; he could take her with them and raise her to not rat out other heroes. Of course, there’s always the chance (at about 100%) that she will be kidnapped and forced to rat out heroes in the future. Yeah, he really doesn’t have a choice.
I just rewatched the scene, and that’s right; he just looks at her and she giggles.
What i don’t understand is what changed that led to DL being killed by Linderman instead of by Sylar, i just don’t see what Hiro could have done to change their story line.
I’m not sure anything HAS changed in that timeline. It was never specifically stated in Five Years Gone that Sylar killed DL, or even that the bomb did. In fact, while Peter said that “DL is gone” he only said that *he * killed Micah. And Linderman was never mentioned at all that I recall, so there’s no reason to think that things hadn’t happened in 5YG exactly as they’ve been shown to happen so far. Linderman kills DL, DL kills Linderman, Micah dies in explosion.
Sylar used DLs power to drag Peter out of the room, thats how Peter figured out he wasn’t Nathan. I thought it was implied that Bennet turned in the “dangerous” heroes in exchange for Parkman letting the harmless ones go, which would explain how Sylar got a hold of DL.
In the future, Sylar did do the DL trick to reach through the door and grab Peter, so I think that’s where people assume that Sylar must have killed Peter. However, there are other explanations as well. There could be another person with DL’s power. Also I wonder if Sylar can take powers from people he hasn’t just killed. If he happens upon DL’s body, can he still take DL’s power?
But also I think Hiro has changed the timeline as well. When Hiro gets back from the future, he goes to see Issac because of the comic he’s brought back from the future. That’s why he runs into Sylar and later confronts him with the sword. This could have affected Syler’s actions enough that he doesn’t meet DL.
I don’t think DL’s dead. In the final moments there’s a shot of Niki (with just one K, people) cradling him and it looks to me like he’s still moving a little. Whether that’s meant to indicate he’s still alive or the actor just didn’t hold still or I imagined it, I don’t know.
I’m just wondering how the Haitian and mama Petrilli are going to factor into the finale.
Poor Parkman. He’s such an ineffectual dork.
Micah was speculating as to how she creates her illusions. He said something like “You must be bending light somehow”. That is when she responded with the above.
You’re right of course, I’d forgottent that. And if everyone thinks that Sylar killed DL, it would have to have been either in or before the explosion, since everyone also thinks that Sylar died that day.
He wasn’t just “moving a little”, he was sitting upright and looking up, and I’m not sure they were even still in Linderman’s room. So no, as of right now at least, DL is off the Dead List.
They are still in Linderman’s room (unless they dragged his body to another room, along with the fireplace). DL’s eyes are closed and his head moves while Niki’s holding him, but it’s not completely clear whether it’s voluntary motion, involuntary or it’s Niki moving it.
BTW, the intercutting of Nathan’s victory speech with shots of the various heroes was sweet. Unfortunately it leads me to believe that Clea Duval is gonna die.
Upon rewatching - are we to assume that Linderman somehow put Niki and DL together to genetically engineer Micah? After he was thrown against the wall, he said:
“You wouldn’t even have Micah if it weren’t for me. Arranging your relationship. Crafting opportunities.”
Or does he jsut mean “I’m the reason you two got together and had a baby.”
Also, anyone else think Linderman is really dead? Maybe he can heal himself just like he can heal others. In which case his head wound closes up at the beginning of next week and he’s fine. (Much like the copout at the beginning of this episode: “Claire - you know what you have to do!! I’m about to blow up! Kill me now—oh wait, everything’s fine now.” :smack: )
I’m kind of hoping that next season goes back and covers the Justice League, presumably ending the season with them breaking up.
Also I gathered that Sulu most definitely does not agree with Linderman’s plan?
My death pool, based on the preview:
Dl appears to be alive, as does Molly.
Matt appears to be dead with Mohinder next to him due to a non-Sylar related injury, my WAG is this has something to do with Bennet…
Any speculation on who dove out the window and/or is collapsing in that alley?
I suspect Sylar dies, Hiro dies, and subsequently, Claire shoots Peter in the back of the head. Ando is almost certainly going to die.
Also it appears that the “future” has been significantly altered, just based on Parkman seeming to be dead in the preview.
I think he orchestrated the whole thing–remember in the previous episode when Niki and DL went into his lair, and there were all those things about them, report cards, pictures and so forth. It appears he had some kind of super breeding program, at least on a small scale.
Ah, forgot about that. Interesting. I wonder how far it goes - did Linderman know the extent of the specific power that would be created by the offspring of parents with those specific powers? Some sort of DNA map that would tell him exactly? If so you have to believe that one of his contemporaries can see the future like Isaac.
Makes you wonder just how implicit the Petrellis were in the powers of their children. And Simone’s dad. And Claude. And Sulu.
The online comics show that Linderman isn’t able to heal the dead. It depends on if he can self-heal but also on what exactly DL did, I guess.
Claire was probably a breeding experiment, too.
Ok, finally watched the thing. My thoughts;
I’m not convinced Hiro’s dad has powers. He said he’d been waiting a long time for a Nakamura to have powers, which tends to suggest he himself doesn’t (though it could go either way). That he worked with the Original Team doesn’t necessaily mean he himself was powered; he might have just been a sponsor or something.
Candice - “so am I”; pretty heavily hinted that Candice’s reason for being a huge bitch in the past (pretty abrupt character change in this episode) and working for Linderman is that she’s a fat and/or ugly girl (or guy, I guess) who got picked on as a kid. Suprising, since so far for me she (and Thompson) were the only two people I would have picked up on as 100% evil bastards who I wouldn’t mind being continual villains.
Sylar; Hmm. The way I see it, there’s three reasons for wanting Ted’s powers. One, he’s just after all powers. Quite probably, but his “boom” suggests another level. Two, he wants to be the exploding man. I can’t really connect that. He seemed pretty upset about it before; certainly he may have gone over the top after killing his mother, but i’m not too sure. Three, and my own personal guess; he’s not killed Ted in order that he can explode, but to make sure that Ted can’t. Rather than allowing someone else (who he sees as inferior) run around with potentially dangerous powers, he’s taken them himself so that that won’t happen.
I like this theory.
Is he looking for love, like any ordinary megalomaniac?
That’s an interesting theory, Revenant. What was that Sylar said about the reason why he kills supers? Something about them not deserving the powers?
