It’s not an unwritten rule, it’s just that for some shows, it *is * indeed a rule, which I just proposed.
Oh, and Otto, you seem to be starting the weekly Heroes thread more often than any other Doper, so that means you are in charge, by default.

I know! Whenever they’re together, I keep expecting them to embrace and passionately kiss.
Perhaps Claire has an additional ability, of which she is unaware?
Well, I keep expecting Peter and Nathan to do the same when they’re together. So maybe it just runs in the family…
I think you guys are trying to fanwank a bit too hard, especially with trying to make the writers in to devils:
re. Candice: writers KNOW that people have this problem, and they so far have always gone out of their way to make sure we know exactly when candice is at work as or soon after an illusion has been cast: no reason to think that they’re going to suddenly pull a multi-episode illusion on us unless it’s for a purposeful hangover.
On that note though (and this is a WAG): my current theory. Since all of Isaac’s paintings seem to need to become at least visually true, I’m currently of the belief that at some point Candice will project an illusion to one or more of the characters showing somebody blowing up, making all of the visions true. BUT, it turns out that was just a trick to prevent something else from happening. IMO this is sort of a cop-out and I hope it doesn’t happen, but it occured to me it might.
re Hiro’s sword
As noted, Hiro’s Dad seems to have another copy of the sword. I assume he has some sort of change of heart with regards to Hiro’s abilities/the truth of the whole situation
re Sylar’s Power: I believe the writers HAVE gone out of their way to beat in to our heads Sylar has to AT LEAST visually see the brain in order to get the power. WAG: I think he has to ingest at least part of it so that his current DNA can absorb the new DNA and start replicating it as well.
re Peter: Remember Ted originally had issues because his power was randomly manifesting, seems to happen to Peter. Also with regards to Peter’s multiple abilities. Really, if you’re Peter, you honestly might not even think about the fact that you can read minds, or do this or that, because, really, it’s so out of the ordinary it doesn’t occur to you as what you should do.
re Molly: it’s funny, remember how Bennet said “they don’t need the isotopes anymore”. Well, they had Molly. But now obviously Parkman/Sprague/Bennet are coming up on them without them knowing because their “tracking system” is “broken”. I thought that was a neat twist. (Side note: what a cute precocious kid)
What bothers me is that they are there to “destroy” the tracking system. Does Bennet intend for them to kill a little girl or are they just going to break her out?
I do papier mache sculpture. I have been plotting to make a bust of Isaac-with-the-top-down and make the opening at the top a planter or candy dish. It would make a great Halloween candy dish. So is that weird?
a plot summary released by NBC said in one of the subsequent episodes (i think this monday), that Bennet et al. “Have a startling revelation about the nature of the tracking system”. I don’t think Bennet knows
It makes sense that Peter absorbed his dreaming power from his mom. She must have dreamed of a future with the explosion and believes that it is inevitable so why not take advantage to put Peter into power.
I wish the writers would give us some reason for Peter not getting the hearing powers. As far as we know it is always on.
nice observation, I never thought of that.
huh. Another good point. Perhaps Sylar was willfully supressing it at that point? (in some sort of fanwankish way?)
Anyone else catch the picture of Sylar as a kid inside a snow globe? His eyebrows were even more disproportionately big!
Seriously, the Petrellis out-gaybrotherlove the Winchesters on Supernatural.
I had the exact same thought last night. There is no bomb. Candice just makes everyone *think * there’s a bomb. I don’t actually believe they’ll do that, but if they do, I win the office pool bigtime!
What I want to know is when does Hiro meet the dinosaur?
Not sure if you’re joking, but actually, this is what made me think of this. He did meet the “dinosaur” in the museum, and that meant the painting came “literally” true. hiro was standing in front of a dinosaur holding out the sword (scabbard, actually).
hence, Candice’s illusions could make the painting come true in a sense, without New York exploding.
You take that back! NOBODY outgays the brotherly love of the Winchesters!
Last episode FutureHiro corrected Ando that he was actually a Bukkajitsu (I think) master. When (and, more importantly, when) did this happen?
My bold prediction is that at some point before the final showdown (possibly at the last second) Hiro will spontaneously time-travel back to ancient Japan and spend months (or even years) studying swordsmanship from a great master.
Perhaps during this time his sword will be re-cast (or re-whatever-it-is-they-do).
He will then return to the ‘present’ exactly where and when he left, but with all the Mad Samurai Skilz he needs to save the day.
Or I could just have an active imagination.
How many times have Peter in Sylar met? Excluding the future one, the only one I can think of is when they meet in the high school. At that time, I’m almost certain that Sylar didn’t meet the hearing lady yet.
As for Hiro’s sword being a placebo, not only had he used his powers in the past sans sword, but he used his powers to get away from Sylar right after he froze/broke it.
Has Syler ever used the “super memory” power that he obtained from the waitress? Or was her brain eaten just because Syler thinks they’re tasty?
Sylar and Peter had a big throwdown just 2-3 weeks ago, when Sylar ended up cutting off Peter’s emo-lock and then implanted the glass shard in his medulla oblongota.
Ah yes, I’d forgotten about that. Stupid. :smack:
