Heroes 5/7/07 - "The Hard Part"

You nailed it. 3 seconds into first meeting her I thought so that’s why Sylar is nutty. I would be too.

If either parent had a power it would have been daddy. I got the feeling that daddy wasn’t around for some reason other than death. Maybe someone remembers the conversation better but I think she seemed more angry about the dad when Sylar mentioned him, than sad. The way she reacted to Sylar when he demonstrated his powers (“you’re a devil!”) makes me think daddy might have had a bit of the devil, too.

I like your thinking.

Also I’m wondering why his mom wanted him to be someone “special” like an investment banker or president and why she was opposed to him just being a regular joe fixing time pieces.

well obviously her fixation on him being “special” it was drove him batty in the first place, that’s why he wanted her to tell him to be normal, so he wouldn’t be so driven to slaughter everybody to be more special. Then again, why would his mother have THAT much power over him anyways :dubious: whatever, that seems to be the reason for Sylar’s wackiness as presented.

My current top Crazy Theory is that it’s going to turn out that Linderman is Sylar’s father and he’s been pulling all of these machinations to make his son the president.

Okay, it doesn’t actually make any sense, but it amuses me.

Wait… I thought Sylar’s backstory was that he’d learned fixing watches from his father, wasn’t it?

Lightray - correct, which is why it’s my favorite Crazy Theory and not my favorite “oh, that actually explains something” theory. It’s right up there with Hiro having traveled back in time and was the original Takezo Kensei and the ancestor of all the heroes…including himself.

So Audrey had a fling with Linderman back when she was a Vegas showgirl and he was a superhero, then she broke it off and settled down with a nice boring watchmaker. But knowing that his real father was wealthy, powerful and superhuman, she fills his head with all the “you’re special” talk which he doesn’t believe.

It could fit but it’s pretty complicated.

You might be onto something with that, in the picture of Takezo on the About Page on the http://yamagatofellowship.org/index.shtml site he has a Soul Patch, and looks a lot like Future Hiro…
(added the word site)

I saw there was a video and clicked on that. The damn thing’s in Japanese!

I was pissed. They’re sucking us in…

The question to me is… is it more of a bother for people-who-watch-previews to have to put things in spoiler boxes, or for people-who-don’t-watch-previews to be innocently reading a thread and then suddenly WHAM find out things they don’t want to know.

I come down strongly in the former camp, but then, I don’t watch previews.

It took me a couple of seconds to realise it, but the translation for that video is on the main page.

I don’t mind spoiler boxing previews, however, sometimes the previews and the show run together in my mind so I can’t guarantee I won’t ever make a mistake. I don’t mind doing it as long as I won’t have someone try to rip me a new one if I forget.
