Heroes Episode (26 Feb 2007) - SPOILERS

I’m finding out way too much from spoilers originating from the preview for next week. Too late to go and get all that boxed, but could you people please put that info in spoiler boxes.

For the record, it’s Bennet.

NBC doesn’t like double Ts as witnessed by the “West Wing’s” Jed Bartlet.

That couldn’t have been the email chick at the end, as Parkman didn’t recognize her.

Or am I confused?
(I second the please-spoiler-box-stuff-from-the-previews request, although I realize that thread policy varies show-to-show.)

AED’s evil compatriot seemed like he should turn out to be someone we already know, or something… but I guess not?

Parkman was unconcious. I suppose it’s possible, which means she’s really got all kinds of double-agent stuff going on. Perhaps the whole thing was a plot by The Company to out Claire and/or Bennet?

Great ep. So much juicy satisfying information piled on top of even more interesting questions. We still don’t know everything about AED though. What was he when he was brought in to hunt supers 15 years ago? Obviously not a paper salesman.

AED told his boss he just now found out about Claire & Haitian’s duplicity, so Haitian only had to take a day or so of his memories. That’s assuming AED trusts Matt not to reveal he’s been hiding Claire’s emergent abilities for several months.

Haitian said:
“I answer to someone whose instructions supercede yours.”
“In this company?”
“In your daughter’s life.”

I dunno. It could be someone we haven’t met yet. Or, it could be AED himself. That is, this isn’t the first time AED has given instructions to Haitian WRT his daughter (and maybe others with abilities) and then had him mind wipe the memory of it, so he could continue to work for Primatech.

Looks like Claire’s headed for NY to find Peter. What’s Haitian going to do? Why oh why didn’t Haitian just go gonzo on everyone’s memories at the Bennet house?

Haitian still continues to intrigue me more than anyone else. Yet again he waltzes into a house with super powered beings ever so confidently yet doesn’t dampen anyone’s powers. Could he have? I need to know! :stuck_out_tongue:

So, Claude used to work with the company until they started vivisecting people, then he hid someone. Who?

Maybe seven years ago is about the time Claude not only left, but also around the time AED started questioning the company. AED looked really surprised when he pulled the trigger on Claude the first time, and his subsequent shots were pretty clumsy. I say he wasn’t really trying to kill Claude.

Both Claude and AED speak - and think - fluent Japanese. How cool. Hiro’s dad reads him stories about a legendary warrior whose sword just happens to bare the symbol. The same symbol Haitian wears and Niki/Jessica has. There’s got to be more to that. Hiro’s dad ignores his son’s claims of having abilities and 14 years ago he gave AED a daughter and admonished him not to get too close. And yet, I wonder if both Hiro’s dad and AED got too close. And maybe Hiro’s dad knew AED would get too close. On purpose.

I wonder if the problems Hiro’s dad is having with his stockholders wondering if he can effectively control things has something to do with a rift between two different factions with opposing viewpoints regarding supers, and maybe has something to do with the symbol?

Ah, I’m thinking too much. Off to bed.

After Matt and Agent Duvall looked through Ted’s house and were exposed to radiation she gave him some pill to deal with the contamination. The badges were used after Ted was captured and they were interrogating him.

I had a thought this morning: From previous discussion with Claire, which have been fairly spiritual in nature, I think the Haitian was referring to “God” as that person whose instructions supercede dad’s.

Maybe the hero that he was protecting helped him fake getting shot?

Bennet’s boss already knows she has a power so erasing her existence makes no sense. What had to be erased is any arrangements that Bennet made for the escape and possibly Bennet’s knowledge that Claire had a power before the house blew up.

With apologies, I’ve changed the thread title to just show the date, since it seems to be neither ultimate nor penultimate episode this season?.. My deep blushes.

I think he was talking about the leader of some mutants. Someone like a Prof X or Magnetto.

Speaking of which, what if all the radiation makes Matt go bald and confines him to a wheelchair.

You guys must have some blurry TVs. :stuck_out_tongue: That woman looked nothing like Hana.

What I want to know is why Hiro’s Dad handed off Claire to AED on top of that same building that has been the locale of several other significant conversations.

Last night, I was thinking he must have been hiding Claire’s real mother. In the light of day, that theory doesn’t quite hold as much water. Anybody remember what Meredith told Claire about the last fourteen years or so?

There is a mention on TV.com that the new Hero’s name is Candice Wilmer. I think that is the new paper company employee. If you look at the stories on the Lost site, Hana Gitelman/Wireless was associated with the paper company but left.

I had the same thought.
Little Hiro was adorable. I think Hiro’s dad would want to protect his son from the company despite his warnings to Mr. Bennet not to get too attached to baby Claire. He’s either trying to keep Hiro from being discovered or he’s being selectively blind to the evidence that Hiro does have powers so he doesn’t have to face that possibility.
I think the company catalogs and tracks supers but I don’t think they routinely kill them unless they find them dangerous. Claude became dangerous to them when he went against company policy.

Loved this episode and loved Mr. Bennet in it. We really got to see his turmoil in trying to be the good company man and protecting family and friends from them. I don’t think he even meant to hit Claude when he shot, it seemed to surprise him. His wild firings after Claude went invisible seemed more like panic for failing the company.

Bennet looked surprised when he shot Claude. I wonder if it’s because he didn’t have a choice? Perhaps he’d been brainwashed and sort of went on ‘autopilot’ there.

They could be setting up AED to be a really tragic/evil figure, I think. He’s going to wake up with the belief that his daughter was stolen by the Haitian. And also, if his humanity is newfound, perhaps due to his daughter, he may have lost that too. So we may wind up with a very cold company man with a huge grudge against the Haitan and perhaps by extension other supers. The tragedy would be that he finally found his humanity - and then had to sacrifice it to save his daughter. We’ll see.

On the other hand, if they’re teaming him with Parkman, who’s obviously a decent guy, maybe they’ll have to portray him as the good guy.

That was a great episode. Maybe the best of the series so far.

By the way, I finally found the preview/trailer/promo (whatever you call it) for the next episode on YouTube. Like Any Parasite trailer for those of us who wanted to see it again.

(hope it’s ok to post a link like that here. If not, somebody make this post go away.)

Thirded. I don’t even understand why people watch those - you know you’re going to watch the next episode, right? Those are just designed to hook people who are undecided.

The key thing is that they’re designed by advertisers, not the writers of the show, so they have no regard for not spoiling or misleading. They ruin your enjoyment of letting the show unfold in the way the writers intended it.

I avoid them, and I would appreciate if people would spoiler box stuff in these threads. You can still talk about them, but just give people like us some warning so we can avoid it please.

AED did seem like he was surprised that he shot Claude. I very much got the impression of some kind of mind control or something at work. Maybe some other hero with mind control powers tailed AED to make sure that he went through with it.

As far as what the Haitian erased - AED is going to give the impression that the Haitian was the one hiding Claire, and that he didn’t know, and that he’s been a loyal company man all along, and he was going to come turn her in, but the Haitian saved her. So maybe he was getting his memory wiped in a way that makes him actually believe that too. And then he would go back to being a loyal company man. It would be an interesting backstory to a villain character, I think.

Who called the boss guy, anyway? When they were talking in the hall at the end, the boss tells AED something like “it’s a good thing you called me when you did” - why would he do that? Seemed like he was still trying to contain the incident. This point makes no sense to me.

Imagine if this episode were written by the writers of Lost.

Sprague and Matt would take AED hostage, and then demand “I WANT ANSWERS!” - then AED would reply “It’s… complicated” and Matt would say “oh… okay…” and walk away. Then we’d have an episode of flashbacks where Claire found out about her powers, like we didn’t already know.

Also, if you follow the comics, you would know that Hana used to work for HRG, so he would have recognized her pretty easily.

I looked at the Primatech Paper website, especially the pre-employment quiz, and one question left me confused: “2. If you see a turtle lying upside-down on its shell in the middle of the road, you: Run over it/Take it to safety/Avoid it.”

What’s a turtle?
