Hey! American Idol (March 6, 7 and 8th)

Jared
Sundance
Antonella
Sabrina

I’d like to know this too.

Simulpost. But thank you!

What? How do we live in a world where this is allowed to happen? Sabrina? And not Haley “Joel” Osmond? What the crap?

Haley??

:frowning:

The only one that I’ll miss is Sabrina. And I say that if we had to lose her in order to dump Sundance and Antonella, I can take it.

Did anyone besides me think that Antonella’s singing was actually pretty good tonight? She was still a bit flat but it worked.

No. Her voice was all over the place. At one point she screwed up the lyrics and you could see a “look” go across her face that said “oh, well, not like it matters anymore.” I was actually surprised she was able to sing at all. I was sure she’d start boo-hooing halfway through it.

Speaking of expressions, while the judges were all aghast about Sundance leaving they showed a really quick shot of Sanjaya’s face. To me it looked like he was thinking “What the hell? All the judges think I suck!”. Priceless.

Can someone refresh me on who Jared and Sabrina are?

I’m glad Sundance is gone. Wrong forum for him.
Antonella…see ya!

Jared is the guy who dedicated his performance of “Let’s Get It On” last week to his mother. And Sabrina is the one who looks like Gloria Estefan.

In retrospect, I agree with Risha on this one: I am sorry that Sabrina was collateral damage, but if she needed to be sacrificed so that Antonella and Sundance “got gone,” so be it. I am willing to name her a martyr for the cause.

Wow, I had a feeling we’d see a shocking departure because of someone who didn’t deserve to be there, but I thought it would be Antonella, not Haley that stayed.

And Sabrina?? I’m really surprised. I mean, she was a little generic on Wednesday, but I liked her more than Stephanie. She could go tomorrow and I wouldn’t care. She’s got a good voice, but there’s little personality there.

Honestly though. I don’t really care who goes as long as the final 4 is Lakisha, Melinda, Chris S and Blake.

I laughed out loud when I read this. This is one of my favorite new sayings, thanks to My Name is Earl. The fact that I say it often tells me that I do a lot of things that I shouldn’t. :o

I think Sabrina might have had a bit too much of the Babs vibe. I’d much rather have seen Sinjaya go before Sundance, but all in all the results weren’t as bad as I’d feared. Hopefully, votes from VFTW will now be sufficiently dilluted as to be inconsequential.

Well, now, here’s the thing.

Just before Wednesday night’s show aired over here, I looked at DialIdol, and for the other three times zones, they were showing Antonella with the second lowest mark (I forget if Sabrina was lowest).

Then, later, after the West Coast voting was closed, she was suddenly in the top 4.

So there seems to be something regionally lopsided about how DialIdol and VFTW fans are distributed. Certainly no one voted for Antonella due to the quality of the performance.

I suspect that Antonella was legitimately in the bottom 2 all along.

It occurred to me last night that this program probably qualifies as a game show, and is therefore subject to the scrutiny those programs endure. Shenanigans could have serious repercussions.
Vote for the Worst certainly lost their influence this week.

Hey, me too! And now that you mention it, “Earl” might be where I got it from, too.

So, gaming the top 12…

Stephanie - has the best technical chops, but needs to start singing something more approachable.

Haley - What can you say? Some people just eat up that Up with People shit. She’ll best a couple of more worthy singers before she goes down.

Jordin - Probably won’t win, but I hope she goes far enough to get a contract.

Phil - Will drown in the mixed competition. I expect him to get ousted in the lower half.

Brandon - I hope the fiercer competition next week pushes him to kick it up a notch. I keep wanting to think he’s got better stuff in him.

Sanjaya - Once he’s on the same show with the girls, he’ll go home.

Gina - is going to hang in for a while, and may even improve. She’s got likeability out the ass.

Blake - Also has strong likeability going for him. He’ll last a good while.

Chris S. - Ditto. Love the hell out of him.

Chris R. - Who? He’ll be gone in the next three weeks.

Lakisha and Melinda - In a perfect world, they’d be the final two, simply because they are the best combinations of singing and performing talent.

Okay…I’m shocked and horrified about Sabrina. I figured her to last at least another 2-3 weeks. I actually really liked most of her performances (though this week wasn’t one of her best). And they kept Happy Happy Joy Haley?

Jared…Okay, I think he’s the tall, good-looking guy I was kind of drooling over during the auditions. I didn’t think he was horrible, but in my opinion, none of the guys are good enough for this competition so I’m not too heartbroken.

I’m so glad Sundance’s stupid beard has left the building.

Sabrina! Noooooooooooo!

Yes! When it got down to her and Haley, she must have been quite sure she had it. I don’t feel too bad because neither one would make it close to the top, but the “Top 12” deal seems important. Even Kellie Pickler got a deal and she left well before the finals.

I had a feeling on my way home last night that the Big Important Announcement would have something to do with using the amazing attention they get for a poverty-fighting cause. Simon was so cool about it, describing his trip and also acknowledging how well they all have done by the show.

I’m shocked about Sabrina, too. I mean, there wasn’t any way she was going to win this, but I wanted to keep her around a while longer. She had genuine talent. I’m kind of going to miss Sundance, too.

I’m going to miss Sundance a lot. I would have preferred Brandon, Phil, Chris Robinson or Sanjaya to go instead of him. I like him, and so does Mr. Rilch, who now says he may not watch the rest of the season.

And I don’t think this is going to be great for Sanjaya, either. He’s way too vulnerable, and I don’t think this is going to make him stronger. Kevin Covais was a smartass, and John Stevens was stoic (and hey, Sanjaya; he never cried, even though once you could tell he was thisclose). Sanjaya cries at the drop of a hat, and has more of an inferiority complex than Melinda. I wish he were not in the top 12, not just because it’s allegedly at Sundance’s expense*, but because I think the people who are voting for him should better have thought about pushing him into the coliseum.

*I believe that the one who goes really is the lowest vote-getter, but I don’t believe that the person in jeopardy with them is automatically the second-lowest. I’m sure they’ve created misleading configurations a time or ten for their own purposes.

To say the least! I really don’t want to see him cry because he’s a sweet, if less-than-talented kid, and each week pushes him closer to tears.
