Hey, Any Dopers Wanna Go To The Ann Arbor Art Fair?

I was thinking maybe? If some of y’all was interested? I haven’t been in several years. I used to live in Ann Arbor, and the Fair eventually became more of a nuisance than an event (for me, anyway), but now I’m kinda yearning to go back.

Anyone feel like maybe meeting/caravanning down there? We could look at some really nice stuff, laugh at the really-funky-and-grossly-overpriced stuff, make fun of the people in the cause booths, and leave having bought nothing but some excellent ethnic food and a glow-in-the-dark necklace.

:smiley:

Persephone-

when is it, again?

Uh…a couple of weeks. I forgot the date. Hang on, I’ll go find out.

Duh.

July 18-21. Yeah. That’s it. :smiley:

I might be in on that- I have that weekend free.

Ugh, who would want to go to Ann Arbor? GO SPARTANS!!!

I WAS just teasing! But I couldn’t resist, I lived in East Lansing for three years and really liked it.

like to? yes! :smiley:
can **afford **? no :frowning:

wring: Me neither. I have no intention of actually purchasing anything besides food. :smiley:

<raising hand>

Me! Me! I would like to go! I have heard about the parking hassles, so I am afraid to go alone, not knowing where to go. I drive in downtown Detroit every day, but Ann Arbor scares me. Yes, I know how weird that is.

C’mon, wring, I really wanna meetcha. And you know Persephone is fun. As an added inducement, we can go in my cute-as-a-bug yellow bug if you like.

Rats. I’m not going to be a Michigander until late August…but I love art fairs! Maybe next year…:slight_smile:

I’m game. When I go, I usually park at Briarwood Mall and take the shuttle bus, so parking isn’t a problem. Does that sound like a good place to meet, or are there other ideas?

I was just thinking the other day about how I’d like to go to this! What fun!

PS: I can’t afford anything either, but art is purty.

See now, wring? You’ve GOT to go. Hey, maybe we could make this a “Doper Chicks Only” trip! Kinda like Thelma & Louise,* but with a lot less death. :smiley:

Oh, and if I were to go, I’d have to go Saturday because of my new job answering calls at the cable company (wich has really cut into my board time and makes me wish I were dead to boot. Who knew so many people see cable TV as a basic human right?)

Briarwood is an excellent suggestion, Juniper! But if you’re gonna go, I swear, someone else is going to take notes. My hand still hurts. :smiley:

Naaaaaaaah. Let’s bring the guys. Gotta have somebody carry the stuff. :smiley:

Sounds like something cool to do. I’m poor too, but I don’t mind window shopping. Just let me know via e-mail what day and time and where to meet.

Wow, that’s a lovely poetic image, Persephone. And, yeah, I wannnnnnnaaaaa gooooooo, but I cain’t; the Job thang. And the Distance thang. I hope you go, though, and can pitch a Wang-Dang-Doodle!

Well darn, elelle! I’d about give my left foot to see you again, my Sin Twister! But yeah, the jobs & distance do kinda get in the way of having a life, don’t they? :frowning:

Saturday would probably be the best day for me, too. The thing about Saturday at the Art Fair, though, is that it is the last day, so it’s generally pretty packed out. It also gets done early in the evening–the other days run later. But hey, I’ve got no problem with getting up earlier and spending the day down there, if no one else does.

And would anyone mind if I bring my mom along? She lives down there, and I really don’t see enough of her. You’ll LOVE my mom. She’s awesome. She may not understand what we’re talking about if we start yakking about the boards, but believe me, she’s one fun chick. :smiley:

:::boomp!:::

So, anyone else interested?
