But while you’re at it, please try to explain the two blatant attempts at election fraud this evening:
The major (read:liberal) media declaring Florida to Gore at a ridiculously early time and ending up very wrong; making it very reasonable to question whether it was done in an attempt to sway the still-open polls in the West. Bush was consistently ahead in Florida all evening long, from about 10 percent of the vote tally to 100 percent.
The dispicable attempt by a federal judge in St. Louis, Mo., to tilt the advantage to Gore and the late Mel Carnahan by allowing voters in very liberal districts to vote for hours after the polls should have closed. This didn’t occur anywhere other than Democratic strongholds, and surprise-surprise, the judge once was on House Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt’s staff.
The lines were too long, and you didn’t get to vote? Get there earlier next time. The bastard should be thrown off the bench.
Bush/Cheney - 2000 and beyond! Control of all three houses! Woo-hoo!
Believe me, if I had the choice of being intimate with someone who honestly believes that Bush was the best candidate for President and douching with a dirty, broken pop bottle, I’m going to have to have a Coke and a smile.
Allow me to be the first to congratulate you on your candidate’s victory. In no way can I admit that the better man has won. I am extremely fearful for our country’s future. Only time will reveal what lies in wait for us.
You’ll see how ‘smart’ you are, soon enough. The world is a dirtier, more dangerous, and sadder place if this result stands.
There is little good in giving such vast power to the corporations who bought this election. These corporations do not exist to enhance mankind – they are interested in making money the easiest way possible. That means exploiting the masses, cheating the poor, and pillaging as many natural resources as possible.
I’m glad I’m not a woman, or gay, or poor, or a minority, or young, or old. They are the real losers tonight.
Perhaps the biggest losers are the poor fools who thought a vote for Bush was going to help them personally. They will soon find whose pocket GWB is in.
Take this as you will. In regards to Bush being president, I personally am deeply upset that the leader of the US thinks me a second class citizen because of my sexual orientation.
It will take time for this tragedy to kill women, gays, minorities, children, and seniors. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Don’t try to dismiss the danger.
Women will die from back-room abortions.
Gays will lose civil rights, and lead much more dangerous lives. Some will be beaten, and some will die.
Minorities will lose more youth – many unjustly killed by an uncaring, pro-death penalty government.
Children will have less access to healthcare, and those with asthma will be harmed by the air pollution. Some will die.
Seniors will lose much of the security of Social Security. They will have harder lives, and will die earlier.
If you find all this amusing, perhaps you should check your DNA to be sure you’re really human.
Hey Milo, on another thread I was told, in effect, I could take off my hood now. I think the implication was that Bush was a racist, and by extension, I must be too. The exact words were “It must be nice not having to pretend anymore.”
And this was in a thread that had absolutley nothing to do with racial issues! It’s amazing how quick the race-baiting begins, sometimes.
Milossarian, if you wanted a bitch-fest, why didn’t you start this thread in the Pit? MPSIMS is not the place for political bickering. That’s what GD and the Pit are for [or were there too many threads there already for your’s to make a difference?].
The republicans are not for Gay rights, the see gay people as second class immoral citizens.
Traditionally, they are for white men only, not even white women, so it a sexist and racist bent in the party.
They want prayer in school, by law. This violates the separation of church and state. They also want those prayers to be protestant christian… what about the Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Zoroastrians, Wiccans, Taoists, Native Americans, Catholics, Hare Khrishas, Scientologists, Mormans, and Eastern Orthodox’? Their prayers are not what the republicans mean by “school prayer.”
andygirl: A quote or a reference, please, that shows why your president-elect thinks you are a second-class citizen?
Danalan: I don’t find the content of your words amusing; just the context.
And since when did Dems ever think Republicans were human beings, anyway?
Anyone want to address the attempts at election fraud as referenced in my OP? Kiss your victory goodbye when the feds come to investigate, Widow Carnahan.
um… i can answer that… damn near every republican has voted against any sort of equal rights act/bill that included rights for this country’s homosexual citizens. BTW, he’s not MY prez-elect, he is THE prez-elect. i claim no responsibility for his election.
since when have the republicans thought that democrats were human?
are you implying that ALL democrats approve of the acts alleged in your OP? Cite a reference for your allegations, since you insist that andygirl do so for her claim. the generalize about an entire group of people based on the actions of the few is irresponsible.
As a Missouri resident (AND Carnahan voter, thank you very much), I’ll step up to the plate with a quote from a St. Louis Post-Dispatch article about this:
When you’ve got literally hundreds of apparently registered voters being turned away from a few specific polling places, and shuffled all over the city to prove their registrations, not to mention problems I’ve seen reported elsewhere with ballot shortages at these same precincts, seems like a good case for a bit of emergency court action. At least, a lot better case than one would have for a lot of hollow bluster about Democratic skullduggery…
Palmyra - Many Republicans don’t support equal rights acts/bills because they think you, as an American (if you are one), already have equal protection under the law. Any act or bill that singled you out would be A) redundant; or B) make it so others were treated differently.
So, how don’t you have equal treatment under the law? If a crime is committed against you, I don’t recall the police asking your sexual orientation.
I’m hearing now that Gore has retracted his concession to Bush, and Florida is about as close to even as can be. This is amazing! Historic! If all of the networks were wrong twice …
I’m sure there will be re-counts coming.
Shit. We’ve already uncorked the champagne. It’s going to go flat.
