Hey Diogenes, another thread where you can rant about Favre.

Yeah, the guy that was MVP of the league 3 years in a row. Yeah, the guy that actually has a Super Bowl ring. Yeah, the guy that is destroying NFL record after record with virtually every breath he takes.

Down by 13 at the half. Guess which Doper wasn’t worried? Not even in the least. After all, we didn’t have Moss attempting TD passes. Thankfully.

Never count out number 4. You know it, and you know why. That’s what pisses you off about the greatest QB to play the game. Ever. He doesn’t wear the purple. I can understand your frustration. Hell, Staubach and Tarkinton pissed me off when I was younger. But GB was shit then, so there was little competition.

I do have to tip my hat the the 'Queens though, in one aspect. They’re the only team besides the Bills to get to “The Dance” without ever sacking up and getting it done. (The Broncos lost 4 but finally had their deal with the Devil come through and steal one from the Pack)

This thread is borne from your Favre rant. And I am calling you out, brother! I am putting everything on the line here and talking smack about your Queens. Yup. They’ll be lucky to make the wild card spot with St. Louis and Detroit right in the hunt.

Remember the trouble the Vikes had with the Motor City Kitties in the shithole you people call a stadium? Now do that on the road. Did you happen to notice what Jones did to us with a much better rush defense? I weep for the run game the Vikes will have. Oh, wait, no I don’t! In fact, I’m hoping for a tie just to mix everything up even more.
Again. It’s official. I’m calling you and all other ViQueen fans out. You’re following my 8 year mantra. It’s a play on 3M. You know them, right? Of course you do, they’re based in the Cities.

Mine is 4M[sup]TM[/sup].

The Mandatory Midseason Minnesota Meltdown.

It happens every year, and with Tice’s job on the line and McCombs looking to move the team to LA or San Antonio, it’s only a matter of time. Though it will be tough to get stadium funding for any team unless they show they can carry through an entire season without a complete collapse. (Sorry, but it’s unlikely) With the TV contract, though…

Even if the Queens pull one out of thier asses on Christmas Eve, the Pack need only beat the Jags and Bears to guarantee a division crown. (Minus one game given you close the year against the Foreskins, which gave a good game to the Eagles)

There it is. I’ve got it all on the line. I’m calling the packers NFC North winners right now. You get all year to deride me if wrong. But I’m not. Pack is in. Vikes, eh, maybe not.

NOTE

There is a tendency to take some of my pits as personal attacks. This isn’t one. Dio and I, (I hope) have an understanding of giving each other shit whithout getting personal. If anyone wants to take it that way, bring it on. I love a good fight.

But to you DtC, yup, I just called you out.
GO PACK!!!

The Packers will win the North, and go on to lose at some point, either to Atlanta or Philly or even lose in an upset to some team like Carolina. The Vikings haven’t really choked – they were never that good to begin with. When they rolled off some wins, it’s because Culpepper was on fire. The Vikings are just a mediocre team, and they may make the playoffs because of NFC parity.

Good OP duffer.

The ViQueens just peaked a little too early is all.

A two game lead sure feels comfortable right now doesn’t it?

Aww, come on guys.
Even as a Packer fan living in Minneapolis I still have a bleak outlook for both these teams. Sure, one will get to be the division champ but is that really that lofty of a goal?
Neither of these teams has what it takes to go the distance this year and thats just sad.
The promise of Favre leading them to the superbowl and the promise of the Dante-Moss machine just never lived up to the hype.
The AFC and the Eagles just have their shit together this year and our boys don’t.

After we play our personal “mini-bowl” on X-mas Eve the real teams will be dukeing it out for the Super Bowl rings.

It’s a one game lead.

The Packers were barely able to beat a lousy team- a dome team- at Lambeau in December.

The Vikings will beat them at the Metrodome on Christmas Eve. The Pack will also lose to the Jaguars. The Vikings will run the table and win the division. The Packers will get a wild card.

Both the vikings and the Packers will lose in te first round of the layoffs (unless they play each other, in which case the home team will get another extra week).

The reality is that the NFC playoff this year is just a contest to see who will be Philly’s bitch in the NFC championship game.

It will be Philly against either New England or Pittsburgh in the Superbowl. That’s a forgone conclusion.

I wonder what kind of touchdown celebrations TO’s got got planned for Jacksonville.

Iggles over Steelers is my pick, provided they (the Iggles) don’t stumble in the NFC CG again.

One in the standings but two on paper. We beat Minnesota and we have a better division record and conference record. Two games.
See, if the season ended today and the two teams had the same record the Pack would win the division.

As someone who has been born and raised in Dallas, Tx…yes that is quite a lofty goal. Hell, it would seem that winning anything at all is a lofty goal to a Dallas fan (well, every since Johnson left/was fired anyways). :frowning:

What’s with the “We.” Do you suit up on Sundays?

The head to head will get rectified in two weeks.

The season doesn’t end today so it’s a one game lead.

And you will lose to Jacksonville. When you have to struggle to beat the Lions at Lambeau in December you don’t have a lot to feel confident about.

Funny you should say that. I was reading on the weekend that while Australian cricketer Shane Warne was out of the game, he used to put on his Australian gear and carry a cricket ball while watching the team play on TV. He said it made him keener to return. His wife thought that he was an idiot.

You mean just like the last time they played? Oh, wait… that was the game that the Steelers made the Iggles look like the junior varsity from Sister Rosalie’s School of Sewing. Yeah, I can see why you’d pick the Eagles. After all, they’ve only played the AFC three times this year, resulting in two near losses (by a grand total pf 8 points) and one spanking. Yeah, I can see why you would pick them.

Well, hear me out. My main reason for picking the Eagles is because they have the easiest path to the Superbowl. The AFC is tough, and one suspects whoever survives that bracket will come limping into Jacksonville.

Holy shit! You busted us there cricetus! Maybe, um, lurk for a few more weeks before posting shit? I’m not saying it was a bad post, but it was really fucking weak were me and Dio are concerned. Especially in a thread dealing with the Packers winning the division.

I’m saying it again. Green Bay wins the division.** Dio**, offer a bet if you want. (I assume we’re meeting in a few weeks) If not, I’ll hit hit the Post Office and send the spoils of war. Though I’m calling a sure-fire to anyone with access to a sports-book, jump on the Pack.
disclaimer: In February I took my wife to the NASCAR race in Vegas and put $20 on the Pack to win the NFC at 15/1 and $10 to win the Super Bowl at 25/1.
I am soooooooooo pulling for wins!

Just like a Packer fan to blow his life savings on a deranged fantasy about the competiveness of his team. Just live with the loss, pal, and don’t get to thinking about all the brake fluid that would have brought and how warm it would have kept you as you curl up with the dairy goats this winter.

I’m calling bullshit on this. We’re talking a big ol’ 800 pound bull. That’s how much bullshit I’m calling!
The wind was whipping around at about 35 mph. Check the passing yards for both teams.

The Packers, (Re: Favre); figured out how to score some points.

See, they weren’t in a dome playing in 70 degree weather with no wind. Wait. That’s what the Vikings were playing in, huh? How did that game turn out, again?
I’m calling everyone out that wants to defend the weak-ass Vikings. Green Bay will win the division.

Guaranteed.

Ugh. You can’t even insult me in a way where I’d give you the benefit of the doubt of being a 12-year-old.

A 12-year-old would be much more clever. Ooohhhh, you meant $30 was my life worth?

I’d call you weak, but it would insult weak people.
Eh, even those worth $30 or less are most likely above you anyway. I have no reason to continue interacting with you before your *******

I see you have no more sense of humor than you do of finances, Mr. Duffer. Why so pissy this morning? Did Najeh Davenport poop in your laundry hamper?

I hate to be nit-picky but the division and conference record is a tangible thing.
So is the won-loss record. The Vikings have to overcome both to advance as the division winners.
As of right now there is a two game deficit.
That Christmas Eve game could count for possibly three games.

  1. a loss for one of the teams
  2. a win for the other
  3. a division record tie-breaker.

Three games.

The best the Vikings can do is win and tie the Pack standing wise, division record wise, and common opponent wise. The Pack will still hold the conference record tie-breaker. Strength of schedule and margin of victory will not matter. Pack still wins the division. The Vikes have to finish with a better won-loss record than the Pack to get the division.

Regardless of the other four games;
All the Pack had to do is beat Minnesota in two weeks and it’s over.

I’m with duffer, I think the Pack wins that game.

Argh! Find your sense of humor! This is possibly the Official Packer Playoff Thread.

If you have nothing to add to the football discussion, find another thread. Not to try to put you out. But if you can’t name the conference record of the NFC, this isn’t the best thread to be in.
Oh, in case nobody knew, Green Bay is taking the division, and likely the Conference. Damn, how many can say they weren’t excited when the Foreskins were getting close? Ramsey sucks. Ergo, loss
