My addiction is Unreal Tournament. Has anyone sle played this game? Now, I’m not much of one for FPS’s, but I played Quake 3. Eh, it was OK. Then, I played UT. I was blown away. The graphics. The gameplay. The multiplayer support (especially with a cable modem. Rapture!)
Then, as if that were not enough, there are more free(!) modifications and mutators out there for it than you can shake a stick at. My favorite one is Tactical-Ops. It takes the UT engine and turns it into a realistic SWAT vs. terrorist scenario. You buy your weapons at the beginning of each round, ranging from flash-bang grenades all the way to Parker Hale 80 sniper rifles. You can also get body armor. Because of the way gameplay is set up (one life per round, no unlimited respawns,) instead of running around in a chaotic blood-frenzy, you are forced to adopt real small-unit tactics. The lone wolf usually is the first one to die. You operate in teams of 2-4, covering each other, and making well-planned assaults. It is unbelievably addictive. I find myself logging on to play “just for a few minutes,” getting killed ignominiously, getting pissed off, and playing for hours. My girlfriend is not amused.
Please tell me I’m not the only one! Anyone else out there addicted to UT and/or TacOps?
Hey, Ogre-- me too! I play on line with my boyfriend. I am SO bad at it, he kicks my ass every time, but it makes it all that much sweeter when I finally land a headshot and frag his ass.
We mostly play Capture the Flag-- I like the combination of bloody violence with an actual task & goal. Soooo many cool maps for CTF. Facing Worlds is the old stand by, and 2Pyramids is one of my favorites because I tend to do well on smaller maps. I almost win now and then on that one.
We’ve also played a few rounds of Last Man Standing; many cool maps are available for that, too (Helleth!).

A friend of mine and I just founded a clan…get this…Clan PANDA. It’s a total joke, as neither one of us are particularly good. Nobody wants to frag a cute and fluffy panda, right?
One would think this is the case. Let me assure you…it is not.
I’ve had the game since about February, and I’ve downloaded stacks and reams of maps, so I know Helleth. It’s excellent.

I was addicted to Tribes. And probably will be again when we get the 1.5/348 DSL line up and running so I don’t get dumped as often. (I’m trying to talk the roomies into getting a T1 line, only $600 or so a month here, yum.)
