Not quite the same place, since Democrats are more civil in primaries. This both means that they won’t have to out-crazy each other as much as the Republicans do (leaving the eventual winner with less baggage they need to walk back), and they won’t go as negative on the attack ads (leaving the eventual winner less wounded).
That’s pretty much something only RW ideologues are pissed about. No one reasonable expects a century old mansion that acts as a HQ for a national politician and his activist wife to use as much energy as a yurt with solar panels on it.
On Topic: If Hillary were gone, I’d say Biden or Sanders would have a shot. Sanders would require a sea-change though. I’d say it’s more likely a black president would be elected than someone as liberal as Sanders.
He texts Monica, telling her she can stay home?
Hey we restrained ourselves until after the serious answers were given! That counts for something …
A year or two ago I was saying that Cuomo was going to run in 2016. But he hasn’t taken any of the steps he would have needed to take by now. So apparently he really seriously decided not to run in this election.
As for jumping in late, I doubt it. Other candidates who have been working would be ahead of him and Cuomo certainly wouldn’t want to join the race and get trounced. And now with Sandra Lee ill, there’s no way he’ll be making a presidential run.
With the present field I think O’Malley is probably the likely candidate to step into the breach, but there’s a long time to go and others could emerge. I still don’t see Warren (as much as I like her), Biden or Sanders as serious alternatives.
Also: spam guy reported
The last Dem frontrunner to win the nomination was JFK 60. Oh yeah, sitting Presidents and sitting Veeps always front run and always win the Dem nomination but that’s because these are the big boys who control all the power, all the jobs.
But let’s consider
64 LBJ sitting Pres no competition wins the nomination
68 HHH sitting veep frontrunner
72 First frontrunner was Teddy Kennedy, then Ed Muskie
I assume the people here know what happened to these frontrunners so I won’t bother writing it
76 Not much but maybe Birch Bayh or Scoop Jackson but Jimmy Carter moves in.
80 Teddy Kennedy was frontrunner but Carter was the sitting Pres and he got the nomination.
84 John Glenn then Gary Hart
88 Gary Hart
92 Not much but the Iowa Senator and Kerrey of Neb had the best chances while Clinton was seen as a peckerheaded wooden brain which he was but
96 Clinton was sitting Pres
00 Gore was sitting veep
04 The Shout from whatsit Vermont had the entire 03 to himself
08 Clinton was the big front runner with Obama seen as some kind of student trying to learn first hand about the race for the Presidency so that he could run in 16 or teach lessons in the university about the nomination process.
12 Obama was sitting Pres
16 How will Clinton fail? A gaffe? A scandal? A tell all book like the one showing all the money Billy and Hilly have made from foreign govts.
Biden could have the nomination but he’s too old, too gaffe prone and won’t run.
So you get some names like Sanders (too socialist, should run a Nader campaign) the lady in Mass who claims to be Amer Ind (what’s her name,Warren, not a household word yet which makes her a very likely chance to step in and win), Cuomo( he tries to solidify his credentials as a lefty but the left won’t buy it). The anti sex pervert Cuomo (Vote for the Cuomo, not the homo) should have stayed at that plateau because that’s where he really is and believability gets more votes than fakeness. Webb, a guy with a tough face and a tip toe through the tulips voting record. Other oldies like the 72 yo Senator from Florida, Nelson. Al Gore who has nothing but a name, John Kerry who is a slow, timid, incompetent.
I pick Warren.
Hillary Clinton won’t get the nomination unless maybe she divorces Bill this summer because that would draw about ten out of ten women behind her.
If she hasn’t divorced him yet, then it’s pretty obvious she’s either forgiven him, or decided that her political career trumps her marriage. I would hope that if she suddenly dumped him now, that even the people on this board would realize it was a transparent political ploy.
The earth shakes, the veil of the Holy of Holies is rent top to bottom, and the dead walk the streets of Jerusalem.
No, she’d be a hero to billions of American women who overlooked the nice guy and married their own “Bill Clinton”. An inspiration, a sign of strength in a woman who says “I don’t need that big charming oaf in diapers” to get me elected President, who needs a boy like this? So she gets elected on her own and he goes back to diddling his superficial minded girlfriend (think an older Monica Lewinsky type but who is a professional w something of a brain and about 30 yrs younger than Bill).
Don’t overestimate the critical thinking ability of the average American voter. This is a woman with such contempt for her own supporters that she actually convinced them “They were shooting at me and my daughter when we got out of the plane to make the speech”. Yeah man, and I’m Buddy Holly.
THAT’LL be the day.
The Secret Service wouldn’t allow a plane carrying the first family within 500 miles of any shooting but Hillary contemptuously figured her supporters to be too common, uneducated, stupid to realize that.
That would be quite a nice trick.
And yet her approval ratings are in the 50-60% range anyway. How’s that work?
Huh? Meaning in reference to what?
Hillary will go down. No doubt about it. She’s too far ahead to see the horse back in the pack starting to gather speed and she’s too arrogant to realize that one major gaffe or one major illegality in her past will take her down from 65% to 6.5% overnight but its coming. Its being timed to come, timed for early next year. Right now the feeling among the handlers of the competitors is to let her stand out there, let her have her “invincibility” let her get all the lightning bolts.
It happens every time. Muskie, Hart, what’s his name from Vermont?, Clinton 08, Teddy Kennedy.
Hillary is an incompetent campaigner, just made to take another political fall.
I think he was referring to the total population figures of the United States being less than four hundred million. Which means it’s impossible for there to be “billions” of American women.
I’m sure such an error is out of character for somebody who’s able to look down on other people for being “common, uneducated, stupid”.
You mean Bernie Sanders?
You mean Benghazi?
Huh? Are you saying that I look down on other people for being “common, uneducated, stupid”? I’m not Hillary Clinton, sorry. And I do excel at reading comprehension.
Looks more like Elizabeth Warren to me.
And where did you come up with this idea? Did Clinton refer to her supporters as being common, uneducated, or stupid? Do you have any objective factual evidence that her supporters are more common, uneducated, or stupid than the supporters of her opponents? I doubt it. So it appears you formed the idea because that’s the way you view Clinton supporters.
Two of your last four posts started with “Huh?” - that’s not generally evidence of excellence in reading comprehension.
