Sorry, John, but you are being silly. You are Cyberian54/Optamissed. There is no need to “ascertain” anything. As I noted, I am not chasing you around the SDMB crying “Cyb! Cyb!” On those occasions when you choose to post the lie that you are not he, I have called you on it and will continue to do so. As I mentioned a couple of days ago, the most significant “evidence” against you is your style of posting.
You share all of Cyb’s political leanings along with Cyb’s tendency to reduce most political discussions to personal attacks on politicians you dislike (and a silly habit of bashing any and all Brits when you can). You share with Cyb a habit of sometimes posting that you are of no specific denomination while at other times identifying yourself with RCC tradition (although not with RCC beliefs). The general phrasing and cadence of your posts is that of Cyb. You have cut back recently, but you initially shared Cyb’s habit of posting large sections copied-and-pasted from other sites, then adding a single statement that basically said “See, I’m right.” (even when the info you posted contradicted you). You share Cyb’s tendency to fail to understand the point another poster has made. You, as did Cyb, demonstrate an apparent inability to actually comprehend much of what you read and draw logical conclusions from it. You use Cyb’s mock patronizing tone when you want to dismiss another poster without actually addressing their issue. You follow Cyb’s habit of periodically interjecting a comment as if you were recalling some pleasant personal experience, even when such a comment is totally foreign to the post. You match Cyb in your attempts to write words the way that you think that they sound–generally failing in the attempt, especially when you type repeated plosives at the end of a word instead of the internal vowels, fricatives, nasals, or liquids that most people would draw out if they were speaking. The list goes on and I’m not even thinking hard to come up with them. Citations are easy to collect as well (many of them on this Topic).
You hinted slyly that “someone” is “feeding” you information so that you can post information about Cyb or some such foolishness. There are two problems with that, of course. 1) No single word or phrase from Cyb’s past would be sufficient to convict you anyway–it is the overwhelming evidence of style that identifies you. 2) In your current incarnation, the subject of your earlier sig has only rarely come up. Are you now suggesting that you are deliberately posting in the style of a poster who was truly loathed by so many people, simply to be able to “further the plot” when “the plot” has only come up about three times in five months? This makes no sense.
Let me repeat the last question: have you deliberately chosen to look like someone who is generally scorned simply on the off chance that I or someone else will be fooled about who you really are? Go back and look. I never raise this issue. The only time I ever post on the subject is when you choose to propagate the lie that you are not Cyberian54. If you would ignore any references to Cyb, I would never post on the subject at all.
You are claiming, therefore, that you have, in a brilliant act of misdirection, deliberately posted in a way that would cause dhanson, Akatsukami, tracer, UncleBeer, bantmof, Crystalguy, The Ryan, and divemaster (among others) to conclude that you are an idiot simply for the sake of catching someone calling you “Cyb” about once every seven weeks.
Works for me. (It would be interesting if you can find any AOL/SDMB poster who thinks you are anyone other than Cyberian54.)
There are two ways to stop lying: 1) ignore references to you that address Cyb, 2) admit that you are he. (Note which I posted first.) It is all the same to me, but it is an affront to the concept of the Straight Dope to make an issue of false statements.

This is a rather sorry case of giving misleading information by putting a negative spin on a positive action. By using the word ARREST it makes it seem that the Mayor is being punitive rather than HUMANITARIAN by having the homeless picked up from the streets, where they are sleeping, on frigid nights and placed in heated shelters and given warm food. It is a life saving gesture, not Hitlarian. More misinformation from the Left.

I have expressed the thought that Ty’s presentation went beyond normal bounds. You have chosen to take issue with me because you feel that I did not condemn her strongly enough. However, I have no requirement to jump into a personal feud between you and other posters. On those very few occasions that I have commented on another poster’s style, I have done so to prevent a thread hijacking–particularly one in which needless hostility, (that was not inherent in the thread), had been introduced. You began this thread for the purpose of expressing hostility. If you think that the hostility has gone too far, ask that the thread be closed or address the posters whom you feel have gone too far. It is not my issue.
The sole time I have actively condemned a post and the poster was the occasion when someone posted as your mother. At that time I posted a condemnation and notified the admins. I think Ty’s comments were tasteless, but they are not in the same category as that post.
I have no obligation to take sides in a personal feud.

As any New Yorker will tell you, the expression “homeless” does not refer to someone who just lost their apartment to a fire or something like that. The people Giuliani is talking about are those who come up to you in the street and demand money, who sleep in the ATM cubicles, who urinate and defecate in public, and who will rob each other. The overwhelming majority of them have drug or alcohol problems and have refused help. If, during the cold, they refuse to go to a shelter, and refuse to move along, then they will be arrested. This is not a case of the SWAT team dragging poor little old grandma and her lace doilies away. This is also what the police have been doing for years. When people say “Giuliani is arresting the homeless” they are delibertly and knowingly giving a misleading impression. The term for that kind of person is “liar.” However, that is to be expected for a Clinton supporter. Travelgate. The waitress. The Rose Law Firm. Her billing records. Whitewater. Arafat’s Wife. The FALN. The cattle future’s scam. “I don’t remember” anything during testimony to Congress. The vast right wing conspiracy spreading untrue rumors about that Monica woman. She is either cosmic stupid, or a liar. Which is your preference?
Fat Ass’s big argument against Giuliani is that she would get along better with people than he would. Just when was it that she got along with anyone? Billy Dale and the Travelgate people? Correct me, but did not the Democrats control Congress when her Soviet style health plan was shot down? She couldn’t get along with her own party with a popular cause? She will be more effective than Giuliani in what is likely to be a Republican controlled Senate? If you believe that, I have a wonderful investment oppourtunity for you. It involves a bridge. In New York. Maybe we can get Hillary! to draw up the legal papers for us -(just be careful to double check her billing hours).
I don’t see where anyone has answered my questions: what has Hillary! done that is so smart? How much better were the results in Arkansas schools after her involvement? What has she accomplished? What is better for her involvement?

Doesn’t sound low to me at all. Hillary graduated in 1967, IIRC. I graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law (another top ten law school) in 1983, and by that time women comprised about 30% of the class. I distinctly remember in 1967 telling people I was growing to grow up to be a lawyer and having people smile the “girls don’t do that” smile at me.
