But they did explain where the goat came from. There was a farmer showing the goat to Lily’s kindergarten class. He explained that he was going to slaughter it later, so she bought it to spare it that fate.
The goat was explained fully in last season’s episode for Ted’s birthday but he was getting the story confused and said he would tell the ending later.
“…and that’s why Farmer Joe’s breath smells like medicine!”
Okay, okay. I had it in my head that Lily rescuing the goat happened a year ago, and for some unexplained reason the goat was in Ted’s apartment the evening of his 31st birthday. Complaint withdrawn.
Heh, me too. I think I was all caught up about 3 weeks ago, after never seeing an episode til about 2 months ago.
