I’m not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but I don’t think a colonoscopy is indicated as a treatment for DDD.
- sorry, had to do it.
;) What he is doing is trying to get all his medical stuff done before the deductible kicks in in January.
And Blurf. Lucky Louie woke me early on my day off. Dammit. So, I have walked him wearing my bathrobe and don’t care who may have seen me. The maid did not come so once I get motivated I have some housework to do and lots of laundry. A trip to the grocery store is in order too.
Up and caffeinating. I’m fixing to put a pot roast in the oven for the basis of beef stew tomorrow. Moooom done flung a cravin’ on me. Then, I’ll package the Xmas stockings that I won’t be taking north and taking them to the post office to mail. After that, it’s picking up a CO2 cartridge and vaporizer. Tonight is a friend’s holiday party potluck, so I’ll prep some green beans almondine and themakings for candy cane reindeer for the kids project. Time to get busy.
We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, then stopped at Food Lion for the items I could remember that I needed. I’ve got a chicken carcass in a pot to cook down, I’ve changed out the recycling bag, **FCD **has cleaned the cat box, and I’m having some tea before attacking the water fountain. Not icy at all, but very wet, so the drive to California and Leonardtown wasn’t bad.
It iced up here in Topeka last night, and now it’s snowing. The temperature is five degrees lower than it was when I went to a half work day this morning at 5:30 AM.
I am IN for the day, until church tomorrow. ’
butters and dotty, I hope things perk up for you both!
N.O.L. has been eaten. That’s been pretty much the sum total of effort so far today. Gotta get busy in a while though. I need to go ahead and clean the ‘shrooms and get the stuffin’ (snausage and cream cheese) for ‘em ready I reckon. I’ll need to get the gumbo goin’ in a bit as well. Woe is me! I must domesticate.
Dishwasher is washing. Fountain has been cleaned. **FCD **is napping. I need to wrap a few gifts. The chicken carcass is pretty much cooked - I should probably turn it off and let it cool.
And as soon as the pellet stove burns out and cools down, I’ll de-ash it. Good times!
We have freezing rain and snow, so I am staying in. The weather forecast keeps changing. It was supposed to be in the 40s today, but that has changed to colder temps. Tomorrow is still supposed to be in the 50s. As long as it is above freezing I’ll be happy since we need groceries.
I was up half the night because the dog was having one of his spells again. Then I went back to bed and slept until almost 11.
**Nettie ** Cat taught me to give him treats/pettings on command - that’s about as far as he is going to get.
Sah-son just headed out to shovel. That is why I do dishes, he does all the crappy stuff I hate doing - shoveling, raking, mowing, de-leafing, trimming, cutting, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the bathtub. I do the dishes, sinks, counter tops and toilets. I also do the litter box and dead mouse cleanup. I have a higher squick tolerance. He’s stronger and has a younger back and knees.
**Sunny ** I’ve never had so much trouble naming a pet.
Now I’m thinking Ivan - nice strong name. But Safari is cute too Swampy.
For whatever reason Photobucket is being a butt head today. I used to be able to upload photos from my phone, now it won’t let me.
Gumbo is simmerin’ as I post. Shrimpies and crab meat to be added later. ‘Shrooms are ready to go in the oven when it’s time. They don’t take long to heat up and get the cream cheese all melty. Other cream cheese is softenin’ and pepper jelly will be dumped on top to serve. Two munchies with cream cheese. We like cream cheese apparently.
Higgs had been to the groomer and she smells sweet and her nails have been clipped. So she’s ready for Christmas. I just finished de-ashing the pellet stove and refilling the hopper. I’ve got a hunk of poke thawing - it’ll be rotissed for supper. The chickie carcass in broth is cooling - tomorrow, I’ll pick it and make soup. Or a pot pie.
I’m thinking I’ll make some sort of dessert with apples. Gonna go look at recipes.
Well, so much for a celebration. Durin’ dinner I got a call about a friend who committed suicide. His wife called (she’s also a good friend) to tell us. Needless to say, everyone finished up eatin’ and left. Don’t know what to do, except to take some food over tomorrow. I made a lot of gumbo so I’m thinkin’ that, some rice and bread so they’ll have something to eat. Hank had been battling cancer but was in remission, so who knows why. For all those who do, prayers and/or good thoughts for Linda, Stephanie (their daughter) and Nicki (grandchild, Stephanie’s daughter) would be appreciated.
(((swampy))) - so very sorry about your friend. Hard to imagine what was going on in his life that drove him to this. Good thoughts to his family and friends as you all deal with this.
{{{swampy}}}. Suicide is almost always a shock and I think most families have a case somewhere in their history. My condolences to your friend.
Spent 7 hours in a High School gym checking in/training/refereeing kids from 4 to 11. Amazing how fast they grow these days (or maybe that’s just me).
One great moment of Zen: Saw a 9-10 y.o. girl reading a book of “Encyclopedia Brown” stories. Hell, I was reading those when I was her age many, many years ago (bet most of you were too). Nice to know that young Mr. Brown has aged so well (expected him to be called Wikipedia Brown by now).
In the high 50F range today, so the cold has departed N. Ali-Bama for the present.
