2016 has fellated with great alacrity, and the fat lady ain’t sung yet.
Dammit, who knew about Italian water buffaloes?
Why weren’t they all eaten when Italians were starving after WWII?
Water buffaloes are from Asia. How the hell did they get to the Mediterranean? Did Noah dropped then off in error?
Dinner was Taco Bell. Work was ---- interesting. We got hit with a bad ice storm and I made it in this AM fine but the rest of the Day Shift ---- we ended up down roughly 50%. My regular shift was better but mostly bolstered from Day folks who opted to stay for the extra hours. Some people who stay for extra hours don’t work very hard. The end result was I is one tired puppy. I think I’ll be turning off the alarms tonight.
Never heard of Italian water buffalo, either. That’s my learn-something-new for the day.
Happy birthday, Cat Dude!
Mooom, you drove to California?
{{{swampy and friends}}}
metal mouse, I was one of those (nerdy) nine year olds who read Encyclopedia Brown. I like how some things don’t change.
I went to the holiday party at my friends’ home . This is the first holiday since being legally married. I also brought home a bottle of pinot noir from the Dirty Santa exchange.

So they only sent half of my shipment. But it worked out. I was able to go home and hatch the hockey game.![]()
What if the paitien has his head up his ass?;)![]()
I alread have names in mind for my next cat(s): Lemmy or Rassilon for a black cat, and Fritz ,for a gray one.
{{{{swampy ,and I’ll keep Hank’s family in my prayers.![]()
[[[[[SWAMPY]]]]] Sorry about your friend.
Did laundry all day and cleaned some amd napped.
{{{swampy}}} I’m sorry for your loss, and I hope the family can find some peace in the coming days.
Did someone mention burrata? I luuuurrrve burrata!!! Mmmmmm
We over-exerted ourselves this morning, and did the 5km (3.2mi) beach run/walk, which started at 6am, which meant we had to leave home at 5am, which meant I had to wake up at O’dark:30. After walking 5km with a 2yo on my shoulders for at least half of it, I watched HRH back up from the 5km to do the kids’ 1km beach run, then we wandered round the early morning markets. By the time we were done with that, it was 8:30 and I was freakin’ exhaustipated. We drove home, and BabyGirl and I slept until midday. I still feel wrecked. Well, I guess that will learn me to push too hard - I need to leave enough juice in my tank to cope with chemo tomorrow - early night tonight!
Doggio - how can you name a pet ahead of time?
It takes time to get to know them and their personality before naming them.
At least for me it does. If i name a pet too soon I usually end up changing the name later.
My pets are going to be the death of me.
Sah-dog is still having his spells.
Cat hasn’t pooped in two days. So I looked it up online and i saw that a little olive oil added to his food could get things moving.
The brat won’t eat canned food anymore but I tried a can of chicken flavored. No go. I added a little olive oil, still won’t eat it. So I opened up a can of tuna and mixed in the juice, he won’t eat it. I added a little tuna, nope, won’t eat it. Gave him plain tuna with the juice - nope.
What the hell kind of cat won’t eat tuna?
Too bad nobody makes mouse flavored cat food
It’s still icy outside, but it feels like it is getting warmer. I hope everything melts by the time I have to go out.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. Twenty four hours ago, it was 31 degrees. It’s 59 right now.:dubious:
Sari, I feel confident prenaming my cats. My dogs usually get a name change(Gordie’s original name was “Bishop”, which considering his appetites, must have been a Borgia era one.
).
**sari **- maybe your cat is eating mice while you sleep, so he’s not hungry?
**red **- California- just down the road from Hollywood and a bit north of Scotland.
I slept till nearly 6:30!! I did wake earlier, but being Sunday, the only TV options would have been preachers or infomercials, and amazingly, I dozed off again. Yay for fairly decent sleep!
It’s in the 50s already, but overcast and windy. I opened the window in the stairwell - that’s where the cat box lives - for a little fresh air. Taz immediately went in to survey the world thru the screen. He wants out so badly!!! Poor kitteh! It ain’t happening!
Today’s plans involve a little sewing - **FCD **caught a seam on his jeans and it tore partially - gotta get it before a full-scale split. I’m also hoping I can transplant pockets from an old pair of jeans to my favorite (but for the stoopit shallow pockets) jeans. Then laundry. And maybe I’ll get around to cleaning the bedroom that I meant to tidy yesterday.
Happy Sunday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis <snerk> 69! <snerk> Amurrkin out and cloudy and gloomy with a predicted high of 77 and rain for the day. The high tomorrow will be 51 with rain. Go figure. Plans for today include deheathenization, and spendin’ some time with Linda this afternoon. I shall take over the gumbo with some rice. I know Linda and her daughter like gumbo and it’s an easy thing to heat and eat.
Thanks y’all for all the hugs, prayers and good thoughts. Linda will be meetin’ with the funeral home folks this mornin’ to make arrangements. That’s always an awful thing to go through. I know Hank has a sister in Iowa and I assume she will be comin’ down. Hank had a brother who also committed suicide. One never knows the whys and wherefores of this but two in one family is especially tragic. Factor in the fact that this happened so close to Christmas and it just seems to be even more tragic.
I have an urge to look up recipes for Eyetalian water buffalo.
OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
Good Morning. The plan for today involves more laundry and cooking. I am making a nice pork roast, collards, creamed corn, baked apples and sweet taters.
I slept good last night so do not see any naps today.
Happy Sunday everyone!
Naming Louie was done in the car bringing him home. He is black so my husband gave him the name of Louie after an old farm hand from his youth. He loved that old man.
I once read an article in the Reader’s Digest, a long time ago, titled “The Curse of the Little Round Cans” It was about all the research and effort that goes into making tasty and nutritional catfood. It was mentioned that mice have all the nutrients that a cat needs, so the author asked the rhetorical question as to why they don’t just grind those little suckers up and put them in a can. The response was that it isn’t cats that are buying the food. Not only does the food have to be good for cats, it has to appeal to their slaves that are actually paying for the food.
This article was from before the fall of the Soviet Union. It mentioned a Russian delegation touring a Carnation facility that did a lot of research on catfood and catfood testing. I guess the Russians didn’t understand all this work was for the benefit of mere pets, because before they left they were said to have asked “What do you do with the pelts?”
We breakfasted in the cafe in Leonardtown, and it was good. They were almost on our banned list.
I’ve wrapped the gifts, organized the messy room, moved some stuff from the blue bedroom to the green storage bedroom, and purged the hall closet. I found one of ex-SIL’s coats - daughter said to send it to Goodwill. I’ve also got a pile of fleece pullovers for Goodwill - **FCD **bought tons of them over the years, but these have been hanging in the closet untouched for at least a decade. He kept what he wanted, and the rest will go. Yay for purges!!!
Now I need to pull out the sewing machine and see if it’ll handle the seam on his jeans. 5 layers of denim might be too much. I might have to fix it by hand. ick.
That is interesting and probably true Baker. I guess most of us humans would too grossed out to buy mousie bits in gravy for our cats.
You could be right about the nightly snacking on mice FCM, i just want what is going in him to start coming out.
my shift key isn’t working right so no more caps for now, i’m getting of tired of going back to correct everything.
it’s a wet and foggy 46 degrees outside, it looks like most of the snow is gone. that’s a good thing since we have to go to the grocery store today and i’m parked out back.
**Swampy ** i don’t understand suicide. i’m sorry for any family who has to deal with it.
Mooom, I kinda figured that was the case.
I have an uncle in Mexico…Indiana. Which is down the road from Peru and if you want to change a letter to keep the South American theme, Chili.
sari, have you tried a spoon of olive oil, or better yet, bacon grease over his dry kibble?
Up, caffienating and getting ready to do the surgery required to make beef stew out of yesterday’s pot roast and veggies. After that, I’ll go to the Mexican bakery for pumpkin empanadas to take to SIL for tea.
Well, I just got a text from SIL. Her hill is iced over we’re on the down side from the weather roller coaster, yesterday it was 70F). I’ll go up one evening this week.
Sewing is done - well, except for the jeans I’m wearing - I’ll get them another time. Laundry is started. I guess next on the list is the chicken soup/chicken salad. I’ll get to it…
I’m dressed. OK – it’s late to have done that but I earned it this week. 57 hours and 37 minutes worth.
