Holy cow! Jack Chick revealed in Annie!

I don’t believe this.

Mods, since everything touched by Mr. Chick ends up in the Pit, feel free to move this if it gets out of hand, but it’s starting off as Cafe Society fodder.
Anyway, this story arc of the Little Orphan Annie comic strip has to do with a ranch populated by some singing cowboys who have a radio show. daddy Warbucks sponsors them, Annie sings with them, but it seems they’ve run afoul of a (gasp!) WARLOCK! This Satan-worshipping evildoer engineers a confrontation with Daddy Warbucks, and is in the process of revealing Satan’s plans for the ranch.

And, in today’s strip (Wednesday, December 1), Daddy examines the villain’s published screed and denounces it as gibberish.
To which the Satan-worshipper replies:

(wait for it)

(wait for it)

Haw! Haw!

This has GOT to be intentional. It’s GOT to be.
Did anyone else notice this? I want to call Jay Maeder and give him mad props.

Uff da, I didn’t even know that Annie was still around. I scrolled back to 11-21-04 where it looks like this storyline kicked off. If you go to 11-24-04 cartoon, you’ll see the Chick-ish jabs at the Catholics too:

Then on 11-28-04, Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks moves to violence to extract information, I’ve not read enough Chick, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before…

However, the last one, 12-1-04 says:

I’m sure it’s going to revolve around the Secret Decoder Pin and a cool glass of Ovaltine™.

drink more ovaltine

What does Haw Haw have to do with Chick?

And you want to be my latex salesman.

I think it’s what Satan says a lot.

Ken, Chick’s villains generally manage to have a big HAW HAW laugh at either a)the attempts to explain the evil of their ways to them, b) them silly, silly Christians, or c) their foul plans to besmirch various Christians.

I knew it was a mistake posting this here. Should have gone in the Pit where the true Chick fans hang out.

Anson Vail? Perhaps this is a–ahem–“veiled” reference* to Anton La Vey?

*No pun intended. Honest.
