Good riddance. One of few times I’m glad that moderators have a religious opposition to reconsidering their choices, no matter what.

This many warnings in less than 18 months.
He was suspended before this. Suspension is usually the next to the last stop on the ban bus and we carefully explain that any further misbehavior of any sort, however mild, is truly The Last Straw. Apparently in this case it didn’t take.
We did not take this lightly. He was counseled. He was talked to. He was Warned. He was suspended. He had every opportunity to turn this around. He didn’t.
I will also post the links in the announcement thread so it’s clear to everyone.
It’s hard to guess what may have caused the axe to fall at this particular time. When I didn’t see any notably offending recent threads, my WAG was that perhaps he flew off the handle in private messages and threatened litigation against the Board. Total speculation, of course.
This post in particular. I mod-noted him for it here. In combination with these other two warnings, (#1 and #2), the staff became convinced that he was not going to improve his behavior.
ETA: I see TubaDiva just posted to address this, and a couple of us, including me, spoke to Diogenes the Cynic about the situation he was in following the suspension.

The guy simply couldn’t seem to control himself. It’s one thing to dispute a point; it’s quite another to repeat the same rebuttal ten times in a row as though the repetition alone makes it so.

Whoa. He was a MAJOR dickhead in that Westboro Church thread. Were I a mod, I would have banned him for pulling that shit alone.
Can’t bring myself to rejoice over this, and I can’t say I’m sorry either.

I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary in that thread, nor any Warnings to him on the last page. But I do like the idea that if Dio were to be banned it would be because of Sarah Palin. 
Pretty comical.
For the record, I think this is a net loss for the boards. Though I am torn. On the one hand we have a guy that had pretty deep knowledge in an area or two. On the other. that’s one dense, dig-your-heels-in mofo. And often on stuff that really didn’t matter.
I picture him right now still posting at home. After reading “Diogenes the Cynic has been banned”, he typed “I am not.”, and is still waiting for a response.

Only ten times? Short thread. In some threads half the posts were his repeats. I will miss him for the first two pages of a thread, but after that I started tuning him out.
Actually, I’m wondering how long it will take him to figure out that this isn’t just another “incident” involving a new Administrator.
I’m a pretty mild mannered guy. Over ten years posting here, Dio was the only poster I ever pitted. I can’t say I’ll miss him.
No way. I was just staring in disbelief. This is a shock.
I disagreed with him more often than not, but I’ll miss him. Despite his being a stone cold atheist and me being all religious and whatnot, I realized over the years that we had a lot in common. Too bad he couldn’t control himself better, that really sucks.
I’m shocked. Reading him in some religious threads is what got me hooked on the Dope in the first place all those years ago, him and collounsbury.

Westboro threads need major dickheads to counter the other dickheads. That’s called balance, and I’m very sorry to see him go.
