I guess they just wanted a place to put them where posters who don’t want to complain about the SDMB wouldn’t be subjected to them.
I don’t think the Giraffe Boards were set up as a “protest” to the SDMB, or at least not in theory. They’re supposed to be a message board with lighter moderation than the SDMB, largely user-moderated in fact. Some posters may prefer such a setup.
Me neither. He sometimes had a point that no one else had the guts to make. But he was mostly just a jerk on a regular basis.
He was Warned repeatedly. That doesn’t count?
He was also counseled many, many times – told to modify his behavior. That doesn’t count either?
He was suspended for a month. Suspension is what happens when someone is repeatedly Warned and counseled over action – and they keep on keeping on.
He was specifically informed that when he returned from suspension he was on his last good chance – that any further infraction, no matter how mild, was the last infraction.
It could not have been made more clear to him.
He chose to disregard all of it. His choices, not ours. Over and over again.
How does this come to not following normal procedures in your mind?

Never had a run-in with the guy that I can recall, so had no beef with him. Any responses he made to my threads were generally on the mark, but then I usually don’t participate in religion threads or even in GD, for that matter. However, I know he was pitted quite frequently, which usually means smoke/fire for being a jerk, so perhaps it was warranted.

Yeah, he was a total cunt at (many) times, but he knew his shit about a lot of stuff. I’d hate for it to become a precedent where often absurd behavior outweighed the potential contributions of a sharp guy.
