Other posters regularly trying to point out why he shouldn’t do what he’s doing that is resulting in warnings, pittings and general anger toward him.

Not an iota of sympathy here. The man had more chances and effort expended by others to aid him than pretty much anyone ever deserved, and he still blew it. I would hope that he might learn from it, but I don’t expect that he will.
Just wanted to say 
He was not rude to me, even when we were debating something as edgy as the historical existence of Jesus. Nevertheless, I looked at the list of his offenses, and he did have a habit of flaming people. One of the things I appreciate about The Straight Dope is that flaming is prohibited.
Again, let’s please try not to issue personal attacks. I realize that there’s no rule against it since he’s technically no longer a poster, but it doesn’t strike me as being nice. Criticise his posting style, his behaviors, but … OK?

Dio was certainly an intelligent person, but he is an intellectually dishonest, self-centered, self-righteous asshole. The boards are a better place without him.

He was dogmatic about his non belief. Although I am a Christian I have acknowledged here that despite a scientific study of the New Testament that has lasted for nearly two centuries there is no consensus about who wrote the gospels, when they were written, and where they were written.
He, however, was quite sure that the Gospel of Mark was written in 70 AD, that the Gospel of Luke was written during the end of the first century, and that it was not written by Luke, etc., etc.
He could be irritating. However, because he is no longer here to defend himself (and perhaps commit an additional offense by flaming me. :eek:) I will let the matter drop.
Quite frankly, when a smug, pompous, self-important asshole barges into someone else’s thread about infertility and grandly proclaims that couples who are unable to have children were ethically and medically no different and no more deserving of sympathy and compassion than some flat-chested stripper who wishes for a bigger set of tits, (since they are both non life-threatening medical issues), merely calling the jackass stupid seems pretty mollyfocking mild.

That was in relation to four police officers murdered a few years back.
He extended no compassion to the families of those people yet expected it himself. That for me was so typical of his views abd methods of presenting them - “I’m all right Jack”.

Terrible. I liked Dio on all religious threads. He inspired me in looking into biblical history. And I LOVED his anti-Packers threads! They were beyond classic!

When he was right, he was right. When he was wrong, he was right. Just ask him. Never moderate. Always belligerent. He was an institution on the boards. Perhaps too much so. He’d been Dio for so long he just didn’t know how to tone it down. He likely got more breaks than most because of it.
In some ways, I’ll miss him. Dude be smart. In other ways, I won’t miss him. It’ll be nice not to see his name pop up in a thread and think “Oh poop. Here we go.”
For those of us who don’t have the Dio Show on season pass, what was that all about?
That was meant to be a criticism of his posting style and behavior, not a personal attack.
I don’t understand the posters here that talk about his great contributions and knowledge on subjects. He has been proven factually wrong so many times in threads and yet stuck to I’m right your wrong. In light of this I would not believe him if he told me the sun would rise in the East tomorrow unless he supplied a couple of damn good cites.
The signal to noise ratio with him was way out of balance.
Good call by the mods.
Count me with those who will shed no tears to see him gone.
