Yeah. I skimmed and read sections. Is it more insane in text? I can’t tell. I mean Trump has a certain delivery that makes him charismatic that is lost in a transcript. But the insane glow in his eyes is also lost. Excuse my European, but he is fucking insane. Really.
It’s what happens when dementia settles in to a pre-existing lifelong condition of stupidity and narcissism. The way to look at this ongoing condition is this: just when you think it can’t possibly get any worse, it does. Trump has long gone from being just an embarrassment to America to now being a danger to the world.
The two of you are using different definitions of ‘charisma’ there.
the ability to inspire people to follow him.
having a charming and likeable personality.
It’s possible to have one of those abilities without the other, and either one is ‘charisma’. There are vile people who nevertheless attract a bunch of followers. There are nice guys that everyone likes, but who have no ability to lead or inspire others.
It simply is a fact that he has the first ability. I don’t understand why, but he has it. And it can be called charisma.
The frightening thing is that the only way that this “ability” could possibly work is for a very large segment of the population to be too stupid to recognize Trump’s own stupidity and vanity. The man is a complete imbecile, uninformed and incurious, not knowledgeable about anything, and basically just a massively ignorant and hateful blowhard totally in love with himself.
It can also be called a “superstimulus”. Republicans have been for decades systematically propagandized into admiring a large number of nasty traits; Trump exhibits those traits in a highly exaggerated form which makes him extremely appealing to people who have spent their lives soaking in that propaganda. And repulsive to most other people.
I’ve never understood the charisma. His tone always impressed me as disinterested, and his meagre vocabulary and simplistic grammar as unintelligent.
Believe us - half of America is mortified to have this moron represent us, and apologetic for what he is imposing on the rest of the world. But just about as many Americans are just fine with him. I’m not sure we could come up with a historical example of a worse elected national leader.
Don’t worry. This American and many more think just about any criticism from abroad of our country and our President is warranted.
But that’s a big part of why so many MAGA like him so much. He literally speaks on their level. These people would hear “Four score and seven years ago…” and wonder why they only scored four points back then.
Their comment includes the fact that some people find him charismatic. And we don’t understand it. We don’t get what about his presnetation could possibly inspire people to want to follow him.
I can see the tricks he uses. I know what he exploits. I can’t see why his presentation isn’t a detriment to all of that.
It’s frankly bizarre to me that your definition 1 can be conpletely separate from your definition 2.
I didn’t watch it, but from the sounds of it, maybe we need to start reminding all those proud MAGA voters that he’s saying what they’re thinking. And if whatever word salad he’s spewing today isn’t what you’re thinking, maybe it’s time to get him out of office.
