Homage to Our Founder, Rue DeDay - MMP

Sorry, you’re one now. But don’t worry, it’s not contagious… much…

All the new folks, welcome

I’m going into histerics about the lack of project offers, arrrrgh. 6 CV requests just last week, but no offers so far. The problem is that if I don’t get something now it’s probably nothing until Spetember.

Yay, first on three!

I’m sorry. ((hugs)) Don’t these cats know they’re supposed to be immortal?

Check your CD drive. I picked out all the candied bits and ate them myself.
The Inaugural Drive was on Sunday, sadly. Complicated Roommate and Cool BIL mocked my shifting skillz. (I’ve discovered I’m a much more aggressive driver when I’m shifting. You will move because I’m in gear and I don’t wanna have to shift down.)

Off I go to usher in my twenty-eighth year by working a 14 hour day. I asked for this.

(I’m an eljayer from way back. Find me at ryl!)

Morning everyone.
The middle child has a semi deep sounding cough, and woke up completely grumpy. So I sent her back to bed. Her teacher is freaky about coughing, so I though I’d err on the side of caution here. I put some aloe vera on her face around her mouth too, add to that the other night she fell out of the top bunk and she had a nice bruise on the side of her face, she looks like hell. Any suggestions on her red dried out skin? She won’t keep her hands off her face.
The cats are having one last (Loud) romp before they retreat to their hidey holes and sleep the day away.
I get to haul my jasmine up the stairs and give it a nice shower today. Yay! And mix up something special for the mealy bugs. Other than that she looks great. And I see the geranium is blooming again. I didn’t have the heart to chop it back for the winter. Best part? No legginess.

Well, I’m hitting the showers. I left a pot on to brew for the rest of you.
Happy birthday Spazcat!

{{{Doggio}}} I’m so sorry about Lucretia.

Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Ol’ y’all know who is up and gone to work already. Ima go in around tennish and work a looooooong day, but that’s jake cause I gots lots of stuff to do.

Yays, boos, hugs, congrats, etc as needed.

Later Y’all!

Happy Birthday, SpazCat!!! Sorry you’re going to have such a long day.

Awwww, doggio, I’m sorry to hear about Lucretia. Maybe she missed Maggie?

**Pie **and Lunch: room 304 is over here ------------------------------->

Breakfasted, lunch packed, getting ready for work…

Not sure what to suggest for middle child’s face, TagFree. I use Aveeno creams to ward off dry skin, but I think all of their face creams contain stuff that will irritate her skin (judging by experience with my nephew, who was maybe 5 at the time…).

Hugs to all.

GT

Good day, mumpers!

{{{Doggio}}}, I’m so sorry, sweetie. That sucks.

Happy Birthday, Spaz!

Thanks for the Rue links, Mom! And the message from him, GT.

I’ve been up since 3 freakin’ a.m.!!! Mr Rebo came to bed at 2:30, and Ernie started up with his kennel cough, and as soon as he would calm down I would start coughing- we went back and forth for about 1/2 an hour. I decided to go ahead and get up so as not to disturb hubby any more. He has to take Ernie to the vet at 10:00.

So I made coffee, and vacuumed the living room where the idjits had torn open another stuffed animal. And I put a pot roast in the crockpot. And ate a bowl of cereal. I am totally wired from too much coffee!!! I got to work at 6:30. My cough has calmed down, but it still feels tickly…

I better use some of this energy now, 'cuz I have a feeling this afternoon I’m gonna be crashing. At least dinner will be cooked!

Later, doods…

Thanks…

Hey!

Listen, Dahling, I learned to drive in Boston, and I drive in Tel-Aviv every day… you only think you’re aggressive! :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Birthday, Spaz!!!

(I think I got this close to the colors of your car :))

Ah, an international man of mystery. What’s not to love… :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Birthday Spaz!

BogDutler-sorry to hear of your loss.

I got up at 0600 and went out and shoveled snow (so that when I am lazy as sin later, I won’t feel guilty). It was a beautiful morning. Bit windy, though.

I need to finish the masterbedroom stuff–like putting away the hammer and stray, odd items etc. And then I must do laundry. A bathroom could stand to be cleaned as well. Maybe I’ll sit down for a bit instead.

I’m so sorry you lost Lucretia, db.
Teh Sick has moved in with several boxes. I am going back to bed.

Aw db, that’s awful, I hate hearing about pets dying. I’m starting to worry about Scarlett again. She eats the prescription food enthusiastically, but has to be tempted or dragged out from under the bed she’s hiding under. She’s still sneezing, and she’s on the 6th day of the antibiotic… I think today, I’m dropping her off at the clinic so they can keep her a day and do the stuff they want to do to rule out anything more serious than “I’m crabby and I have a cold, leave me alone”.

Rant:

It snowed all night here, which means I was up three times to look out windows and decide if there’s enough to justify me going to check roads (no), I’ve been working away from my own office so much for the past few weeks that I feel like I’m intruding here, I have to go shovel snow at home today, but first I have a 10 am meeting, duration unknown, later today I have to take Scarlett to the doc, and Wife wants me to go with her on an Avon run (delivering to people in other towns, I get dinner and beer out of the deal), but she also wants to stop and coo at our friends new grandkid, which I am TOTALLY NOT in the mood for, and I only have an hour here in my own office this morning, so why am I here on the Dope???

'cuz I love you guys.

Kyth, yeah chocolate chip. Have more, I brought a whole bag.

Thanks for the beer, Labs.

We got my mom’s cats a couple of years ago. The younger one, Toy, was very scared of everybody. It took her three days to come out from bihind the couch when people were in the room. And after ablout a year, you could actually pet her for more than two seconds before she ran away.

Now she’s almost cat like. She won’t jump up into laps, but she doesn’t run away when someone walks near her, lets people pick her up for a minute or two (most times), and sleeps in my bed at night. It was a slow progression, but she’s getting there. It just took a lot of patience on our part.

Scarlett’s always been kind of a Diva. She didn’t respond well when Cuervo came, but they got used to each other. This is different, it’s HER house and her normal reaction would be to make his life miserable. I think she’ll pull out of it, it’s just disturbing.

Oh, and I almost forgot:
**
HAPPYBURFDAY SPAZ!!!**

{{{Doggio}}}.

The demolition derby I thought would happen Saturday was this morning instead. Some unexpected rain came through about 5 AM, and the roads between Edenton NC and VA Beach were glazed. Cottonfield County had 14 wrecks within a half hour span; only 1 victim was transported because he rolled his vehichle and had minor head and neck injuries.

Two ambulances were working the wrecks, I sat in the 3rd waiting for any type of call elsewhere in the county. I was 2 hours late getting to the VunderCube.

Au contraire. I was so appreciative that I put you on my Christmas mailing list. Hmmm… make that Halloween.

Sorry about Lucretia, db. That’s rough losing both Maggie and Lucretia in such a short time. {{{db}}}

Well, it’s up to -2 (degrees F) here this morning. Practically a heat wave!

Work’s back to being a bit crazy. Things keep getting changed right before deadlines, which is a major PITA. If we had a little time to plan for changes, that’d be one thing, but it’s always OMG, THIS HAS TO BE CHANGED NOW!!! Ugh. Added to moving stress, I’m feeling a bit frazzled right now.

We have a couple of people who live in Betsytown. They sat in traffic on 168 for an hour and a half before saying “screw it”, turning around and calling off for today.

And east of where I work there were literally scores of accidents on the secondary roads. The dividing line for the rain must have been here in the Greenbrier section of the city, because I had absolutely no problem whatsoever getting in to work today, and I live west of the office.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SPAZ!!!
Oh, (((db))), I’m so sorry. :frowning:

Do we have any virgins around here? It’s snowing here, too. All pretty and white, and warmer than it has been.

The kidlet slept for three and half hours at a stretch last night. Praise be. It looks like in general he’s a good sleeper.

Mr. Lissar is going on an epic grocery shopping trip with my Mum today, probably quite soon. He hates and fears grocery shopping. This should be really interesting. I get to stay home.

fcm, let me check my appt. book for April. ::Checks. Entire month is free::

I fear the only one who might admit to it, if he could, would be Gnat.

Sleep well, beautiful Lucretia! {{{{doggio}}}} I can only pray that I will have the same experience with my kitteh who is really, really on her last 20-year-old legs. I dread having to make the decision about her.

Happy Birfday, Spaz!!!

Assorted other comments as appropriate.

The dog park was tres fun yesterday if a tad too cool for the water. The pups all had a good time. Nearly 11-year-old Jade even did a walk-about around the whole park.

Last night I watched part of that show on the History Channel about what would happen to the earth if we were suddenly gone. What I saw was really good but I couldn’t keep awake for the whole thing.

Tupug

Nice OP, I never knew Rue - it was before I was even a regular lurker here. We’re back home from our travels and I’ve just about got caught up with all the Mumping that’s been happening in my absence.

Doggio, I was so sorry to hear about Lucretia. Hugs

Happy buffday, Spaz! I’m probably late with that one, but I’ve got a good excuse…honest, guv.

rigs - you’ll be pleased to hear that Juicey and Llareggub got themselves wed at the Anvil Hall in Gretna. If you click on that link, scroll down to the link for the webcam, mouse over to the shot at 2.05pm on 21st Jan, you’ll be able to see them and their two bridesmaids but I’m not sure how long the pics will be there.

There was an anvil, and the minister did bang it with a hammer at the end of the ceremony!

Haze - why on earth wouldn’t you want to come and live in England? Some parts of it are relatively nice! And we don’t all have bad teeth either (well, I do, at least they’re not actually bad but they ain’t entirely straight and there’s bigger gaps than there should be…).

mmmmmmmmmmmms - we do have warm beer, it’s called real ale and it’s meant to be at room temperature. It’s very nice too.

OK, time to go. I have to unpack and get laundry on and then get out to fat club in an hour.
