My day was pretty uneventful. We got a very good inspection on the house, he was just concerned with the age of the furnace. I wish we could have gotten the financing for geothermal like I wanted. Now we’re going to be faced with replacing the furnace, and I’ll want to upgrade in less than five years. Hrmpf.
I made two rotisserie turkey breasts for dinner tonight. It’s so wrong of me, but I love the skin. But the corn shaved from the cob last summer was a welcome taste in this weather.
I really wanted another piece of my cake, but the boy is up, and it’s not fair if mommy has some and he can’t. And no, he can’t, it’s late and I shouldn’t even be entertaining the idea of cake. So I’m settling on frozen raspberry cups instead. He got an ice pop.
This afternoon the boy wanted to know if we were going to get a new baby with the new house. Kinda tugged on my heart.
Happy (belated) birthday, SpazCat; sorry that I missed posting this earlier! And just to remind … I do believe that 1/23 is the birthday of at least -two- Mumpers! (I’ll post my greetings later in the day …)
Well, at least tomorrow (today?) is Wednesday and Hump Day. I decided to try to do my Federal taxes… got all the way through to the part where you sign it, and couldn’t find my signature info from last year! I searched high and low, but no go … and it was getting later and later, so I turned off the computer and shut things down. As I was getting my purse out of the drawer, naturally that was when I finally found the info. LOL Well, at least I’ll be able to finish it up in the morning. Then I can file the state one too. Woo hoo for early returns!
That’s all I got at such a late hour. I’ll make way for the night crew now …
I chose green in honor of the color of your new car.
I clicked on the link to one of Rue’s OPs and it sure brought back memories. Ashes, Ashes,Bumba, and bunch of the old regulars. I miss them all. You too lightingtool!
Today was very, very busy at work. I barely had time to think. Tomorrow promises to be pretty darn busy too because my boss has to go on yet ANOTHER TDY and needs some help with some stuff she just can’t get done due to all of her recent TDYs.
My daughter’s disposition is improving some, even though she’s still not happy with her curfew and telephone restriction.
It’s still very cold here. Temps dropped down into the teens last night and they promise to be just as cold tonight. Clouds are supposed to move in tomorrow, and they’re threatening us with snow again. Not that I’ve really seen any real accumulation around my area. Dang it, if it’s gonna snow, just dump already!
Labelless, two suggestions for your daughter. Try either Bag Balm or Corn Husker’s lotion for her face. Or, if you can manage to find them, a pair of white dress gloves. When I was very little and had the chicken pox, my mother put those gloves on me so I wouldn’t scratch myself and cause scarring. Of course, this was back in 1967. I would think little girl dress gloves were still being made for little girls due to First Communion and such, but I could be wrong.
I think I’m going to toast my brain in front of the TV for a bit. My book is upstairs again, so I can’t get it because Mr. Taters is trying to sleep.
Morning all. Just got to work after visiting the doctor for more drugs to try and kill off this dreaded sinusitis. So the whole gumdrop family is still down for the count, thanks to Teh Sick!
The shock news this morning is that Heath Ledger is dead! The guy was only 28 years old!!!
Happy Belated Birfday Spaz!
{{{db}}} Pets just aren’t supposed to die, but at least now you know Maggie won’t be lonely up there.
This morning the bed from hell had me awake at 3:30. That ought to be really nice by about 7 this evening. Especially since I’ll be headed to TVLand later tonight.
Just another drive-by today, came back to work after two days off and Coughing Colleague is still off sick (her doc reckons it’s viral bronchitis) with no clear idea when she might be back. Tin Knickers has given me five urgent jobs 'cos she’s in a panic now. I shall look smug.
rigs - the wedding at Gretna took place over an anvil because the original Gretna weddings were performed at the blacksmith’s forge in the town. The anvil is used by the blacksmith to join two metals into one, just as marriage joins two people as one. So it became part of the tradition. These days, the minister ends the ceremony by banging the anvil with a hammer.
Off to get a cuppa while it’s still relatively quiet here.
Up bright and early on Jury Day - woo and hoo. I’ve gotten **FCD ** off to work, I loaded the dishwasher, and it’s sloshing along in the kitchen, and I’m caffeinating.
Thanks for the b-day wishes! I had some especially warm wishes in email from OK Cupid and a couple of message boards I frequent. And a couple of more personal e-cards. I try to appreciate a nice thought, but my sister sent me one that I couldn’t view unless I downloaded the site’s toolbar, which I did, then immediately uninstalled. Oh well, so far she’s the only sib who’s remembered. Come to think of it, **FCD ** didn’t say anything either. Lucky for him I don’t get my knickers in a knot about stuff like that. Just another day in paradise.
My kid called yesterday and we talked on the phone for over an hour!! Dang. Of course, she was sitting in traffic and really bored, but still. We talked wedding stuff and job stuff and cooking stuff and school stuff. I’m really looking forward to having her live with us. Yeah, I know, the new SIL has to come along, too, but you take the bad with the good.
Nothing else exciting, but then it’s not even 6AM here. Maybe when the sun comes up…
Hapy Birthday mystery MMPer.
I’m working today. I really hate working until 10 p.m. at night and then turning around and going back to work at 8 a.m. the next day. Ick.
