piglet, nice catch. Could be the owner of the bag was one of the guys killed in Beirut, but it’s odd that Saul hasn’t considered what will happen if/when someone notices the tape is missing. Maybe they’re saving that for later. I hope they don’t forget – it’d be kind of a plot hole.
They thought they confiscated the SD card when they detained Saul on his way out of Beirut. He had swapped it in for the real one. They will realize at some point that it’s not the right card but maybe not? Actually, it’s very likely that Saul copied the Brody video onto the fake card so it’s totally legit. All he needed was a copy.
Well, this was the show where Brody picked up the bomb vest, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the box was full of plastic explosive and other stuff needed to make more bombs. Or maybe it contained something scarier, like an atom bomb?
But still, you’d think the Lebanese would guess Saul had seen the video and that the CIA would know about Brody’s activities, even if they couldn’t prove it to others with the video.
I had forgotten about the scene at the airport w/Saul. That makes it even more likely that they would know that Brody had been made. Just knowing that Saul had the video blew Brody’s cover.
A fine episode. I’m pleased at how the hit and run plot line is playing out. I’d like for Dana to be told the reason it can’t be reported, the real reason her dad needs to stay close to Walden. But nobody’s going to trust a teenager – especially an independent teenager like Dana – with info that her dad is a spy. It’ll be interesting to see how the writers deal with this particular situation.
Damien Lewis continues to give Emmy-worthy performances. So does Mandy Patinkin.
Brody’s kinda preachy for a guy that got caught for being a terrorist a few weeks ago.
Does this cover up of the hit and run now give Brody some leverage later on down the line - threatening to blow the chances for the VP to win his election?
So even if the VP finds out the real truth about Brody’s past - he is in no position to say a word?
Do you mean when he was talking to Carrie about not being able to trust her? That was kinda ironic.
This is just speculation of course, but it occurred to me about halfway through the newest episode that the terrorists’ plot will be to murder Finn, the VP’s son or perhaps to bomb the school both he and Dana attend.
That kid deserves it.
By the way, anyone else see Anne Hathaway as Claire Danes in Homeland? Awesome.
So a dirty bomb or straight up nuclear has been ruled out - Carrie said there were no radioactive traces. She also said something about “Enough C-4 to take out an embassy or a mosque”. Was that last part just guesstimating based on the weight of the box? I am betting that it’s something more interesting than a massive block of C-4.
So it occurred to me watching, that I am not sure of the game-play so far by Nazir. Was the long distance sniper at the Airport plan A? Was Brody and the suicide vest plan B? Is one of the targets on the list of five that Brody copied plan C? Were some a diversion? It would seem like a bad idea to be planning 3 big jobs consecutively - all at the same time or years apart would seem more prudent but I remember nothing that makes me think any of them were meant as feints.
Just caught up on the last three eps and the board comments. Glad somebody mentioned the info that Brody got from Estes safe and that he is holding out on it… I forgot about that.
Saw a couple of questions but not the answers…
- What hapenned to the vest?
- Why do we think there is a mole?
I hope we aren’t supposed to think that the terrorists are both 1) hoping he becomes VP or even President some day and 2)needing him to get more involved in operations now that they are “one man down”. Seems pretty dumb to risk #1 for #2. Terrorists aren’t dumb.
BTW… I hope they are done with the amateur sleuthing that Mike and his buddies are doing. That whole tangent is lame.
I’m a little confused as to why Hizbollah and the daughter of a Palestinian refugee are tied up with Pakistan-based anti-American activity…
About Aileen: do we know if she was ever put on trial, or was it one of those Guantanamo-type detentions?
I like the way they just move a photo from one board to the other. Saul seemed disappointed with himself that Aileen managed to kill herself.
Some might argue the terrorist is already Vice President, and standing for the Presidency. The whole show is founded on revenge (for the death of a son and 50 or so other children at the school/madrasa).
Good ep, but next week’s looks to be a real white-knuckler.
Some are idiots… not you of course.
Please allow me to revise and extend my remarks. Having side-stepped (I think) the “personal insult” rationale for mod action I may have left myself open to the general being a “jerk” rationale.
I will now suggest that “the” terrorists are those who target innocent civilians as opposed to those who may lie or cover-up collateral damage in targeting the terrorists. Those people have their faults but being a terrorist is among them.
That whole thing belongs in another thread and although I didn’t start it I should have left it alone.

I’m not sure we saw what happened to the vest. Presumably Brody disarmed it and got rid of it.

Because someone tipped off the terrorists that the CIA was searching the tailor’s shop, and led to the seven men being shot by the faux SWAT team. Also, there was a mole in the CIA during the first season and that person was never discovered.
The terrorists were watching the tailor shop, so they didn’t need a mole to know when the CIA went in. We know there’s a mole because someone tipped off the sniper and the couple who bought the house by the airport. And told the terrorists about the documents in Estes safe.
