Homeland: Starts Tonight On Showtime (Spoilers?)

So Carrie is pregnant? Brody’s, I suppose. Not thrilled with this storyline as it doesn’t really fit in with how she’s been behaving throughout the season. Are we to think that she’s purposefully trying to do something to lose the baby?

Might explain why she stopped her meds.

Hasn’t it been too long since she was with Brody, story-wise? Also I was informed by someone who should know that those pregnancy tests don’t keep displaying that positive result over time - they fade away pretty rapidly - so she surmised that obsessive Carrie had taken all of those fairly recently since they all showed the “plus.”

It could be the one-night-stand guy’s, or the ex-flame she shacked up with while on the run.

I think it’s Brody’s baby and Carrie’s been in partial denial for quite some time, hoping it might just go away. I’ll be interested to see how it plays out, but the idea of Carrie pushing a stroller around the CIA is a terrible one. The hospital would have done blood work which should have revealed the pregnancy, as they wouldn’t give lithium to a pregnant woman. But then the writers have never been big on realistic storylines.

At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if the writers decided it was Mike’s baby.

“It worked, Saul! I’m carrying Hassan Rouhani’s baby!”
“That’s my girl!”

::Both smile at camera::

If this happened it might be enough to save the show.

Doesn’t Quinn have a wife or something in another city? I vaguely recall Carrie and Saul tracking her down when they were trying to figure out what Quinn’s deal was.

That’s right. She was an EMT or cop or something in Philadelphia.

The father? I think it’s random ginger guy Carrie banged because he looked like Brody. If she has the baby it’s going to be a ginger and everyone will think it’s Brody’s until a DNA test proves otherwise.

I get that Dana’s pretty messed up from everything, but that was pretty harsh of her to just leave her family like that. She and her mom seem to have the normal teenager/parent conflicts, but it’s not like mom is a monster or anything and this has got to be just as rough on her as on the kids, if not more so. And poor little brother’s existence must barely register in Dana’s mind. Her silent hug goodbye to him before she left seemed like an afterthought: “Oh yeah, you’re here, too. Good luck with all this.”

I suspect the baby is Prince Harry’s. He was in Vegas, ducked away from the media …

Dana must be the most self-absorbed teen character on television today (and that’s saying a lot). If this development takes her out of the next few episodes, I’d be fine with that. (No doubt she will be playing a role in Brody’s return to the USA, which will surely happen at some point.)

I agree with those irritated by the pregnancy storyline; if we are to assume it’s Brody’s child (which is the only thing that makes sense dramatically), then we do have to assume that the mental health facility dosed Carrie with lithium (or whatever) without doing a routine blood test first. And that is annoyingly implausible.

These caveats aside, I remain enthralled by the show.

Eh, its pretty clear she’s not taking a whole drawer full of pregnancy tests because she doesn’t know she’s pregnant, its some weird OCD denial thing. So she may have found out about her pregnancy while she was institutionalized.

I agree with both of those observations. But the point is, she was given medication even so (as has been shown or mentioned several times, including the moment in which she flushed pills down the toilet after having been released).

Maybe all those medications have been ruled ‘okay for pregnant women’. Seems unlikely, though. (Perhaps a medical professional familiar with what can be given to pregnant bipolar patients will weigh in on this question, here.)

It’s getting good again…

Anyone want to speculate on what happened to Brody during the last 13 weeks?

How difficult do you think it will be to prove him innocent now that the real bomber is melting away? … or to get at the dirty law firm? It seems like they have alot of evidence still and potential for finding more but the Bad Senator/Future CIA Director will soon be able to get in the way.

… and the guy who Saul’s wife was banging… did you think maybe he was the bomber for a couple of minutes? I wonder exactly what he is… maybe the BS/FCIAD’s flunky??

I think that Saul knew where Brody was all along. How else would he have gotten from Canada to South America (right? I forget)? Saul is the one who facilitated his southern migration. Saul locked Brody up in a prison far worse than any he would have had stateside and still had him right where he could get him when he needed him.

If this acid thing is such a great way to dispose of unwanted dead bodies, why isn’t that used all the time in real-life crime? Are the materials unusually expensive or hard to come by? Seems like that is going to take a rather long time. At the very least, that surely must smell bad.

The affair with Saul’s wife just seems so… small time. Saul’s master plan is going to be undone by a guy who is boinking his wife? This whole big thing foiled because Saul was too busy to pay attention to his wife, so another guy happened along to … fill her needs. Seems like a pretty big thing to over look. Saul knows a guy that he cannot vouch for (and has a propensity for sleeping with married women) has been in his house. No matter how much he loves his wife or blames himself for their marital problems, that is a pretty big thing to overlook.

My guess is that Saul doesn’t do any classified work at home. Still, if the bugged mouse is discovered on a security sweep, it’s going to look bad for him. So I think the guy who planted it did so on behalf of the senator, who obviously hates Saul and wants to be rid of him. (Which is unfortunate, as Saul’s plan with Javadi is audacious and more useful than simply arresting him.)

And the question is what’s going to happen to Brody? My guess is that Saul is going to claim that Brody was deep undercover on behalf of the CIA all this time. That’s the only way I can imagine that they can restore the stain on Brody’s name and reputation. (Right now, he’s the most wanted and hated man in America.)

I pretty much nailed that some weeks ago earlier in the thread. There’s no way he could have plausibly gotten to SA without help from the agency.
