Abstract
Urbanologists and ethologists have strongly asserted that there is a human analogue of the crowding effects found among other animals. Extrapolating from animal behavior, it has been argued that sexual aberrations and deviations result from crowded conditions. Using a sample of urban families residing in conditions that range from compressed to open, crowding is observed to have very selective and modest effects on human sexual behavior-whether it be marital sex, extramarital involvement, homosexuality, or incest. Where an impact is noted, the greatest effect of crowding, as would be expected, is in a perceived lack of privacy for marital intercourse. But this is not followed by any of the deviations previously found among other animals.
Animals are generally pretty territorial. If you restrict the territory they can operate in, why wouldn’t you get increased aggression?
As for homosexuality, I think it’s wrong to say that overcrowding causing homosexuality-- especially if you mean to imply that that is the only cause. But sexual behavoir does not exist in a vacuum, isolated from all other behavior, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if homosexual acts increased in overcrowded situation even if homosexuality itself (ie, the exclusive kind) did not. It’s important to distinguish between the two, and my guess is that the person you refernced in the OP isn’t able to think about the subject in that nuanced a manner.
Territorial? Sure. But “turning homosexual” is about as likely as “turning Honduran.”

As someone who has commuted to work on the London Underground I never saw any gay orgies, and I didn’t notice any homosexual tendencies in myself because of it.

I’m not sure if the effect is cumulative, but as I said, a sjhort journey at peak hours on the northen and central lines left me temporarily 12% homosexual - I literally couldn’t control the urge to mentally undress 1/8th of each of the male passengers I saw; fortunately, this 1/8th consisted of both shoes and the left sock in nearly every case.

Is there a link/cite for this? Not that I doubt it; I saw something similar on the teevee back in the '70s, and it’s stuck with me since. But I would like a more concrete reference other than “I saw something about this on the teevee 30 years ago.”
Note the difference between “being a homosexual” and “engaging in homosexual acts”. For example, most prisoners who engange in homosexual acts are not gay. And sex can often be a means of establishing dominance and/or humiliating someone. That’s what I meant.

Well it’s been known to happen, but it isn’t a foregone conclusion. 
I have read that about 10% of people are homosexual. Also have read that 10% are left handed. Nice how god makes it so we can pick them out so easy.

I’ll point out something you all seem to be missing. Sure, we generally agree now that gay people are born that way- but *what causes them to be born that way? *Can anyone here say for sure it is 100% random? Perhaps (and I am not saying it’s so) that when the Mother is stressed due to overcrowding her body changes the way it “selects” the fetus-to-be.
This isn’t crazy (although it is unlikely). The sex of various species at birth sometimes seems to be sometimes regulated by environmental factors and more than just the normal “50-50”.
I have many doubts, but it could be an interesting study.
I have personally done that experiment with mice, and I personally observed: baby killing, increased violence,and yes- homosexual acts. Of course, I couldn’t tell you whether or not the mouse was “born gay” or just choose gay sex as an outlet. Note that parents killing their kids seems to be more in the news recently. :eek: 
Thus, although I doubt that overcrowding would make a person “become gay”,it is possible that the environment could effect how the fetus’s genes are selected.
