Honk if you LIKE Daylight Saving Time and don't consider the system "broken."

I would be happy is it was DST all the time. I hate doing back to regular time.

I did. I thought it was great when the change was announced. I would go even go for an 8/4 or a 9/3 ratio of DST to Standard Time if they wanted to change it again.

I love daylight savings time in the Fall and despise it in the Spring, but that’s just because I like my sleep. Mosly I’m in favor of it but I think it start too early and ends way too late. Spending an hour in darkness after I wake to get and extra hour of light in the evening doesn’t save energy and just makes me grouchy. It should start and end about the times of the equinoxes.

The only problem I have with DST is with the people who think that there is a need to have parts of the country end DST at different times of the year - specifically, having the Pacific time zone extend DST until just after Election Day to make it easier to have every state close its polls at the same time.

I’m OK with daylight savings time, but I think it lasts too long. I would would have it start the 3rd Sunday in March and have it last only until the 1st Sunday in October. I love having extra daylight in the evening in the spring and summer, but by the time November comes around I’m getting tired of waking up in the dark.

Having DSL year round would defeat the purpose of having it in the first place.

Honk
It’s fine the way it is. Maybe not perfect, but then again what is? Just leave it be.

I get very depressed in the part of the year without DST. I’m glad to have it back, wish we had it all year.

Honk! I like DST.

I love living where I live and being able to enjoy adult beverages on our deck, and it staying light until almost 11p.m.! Honk, honk! The locals are already bitchin about how they “can’t adjust”…seriously…it’s ONE HOUR people…how hard is it???

Yeah, this. I get out of work at 4:30. By mid-December it is already dark when I leave work: on weekdays I only see daylight on my drive to work in December.

Seriously. The delicacy of the snowflakes who can’t manage is astounding. Do they seriously never stay up an extra hour, sleep in on weekends, or have to get up early to go to the airport or something? Have they never visited another time zone?

I have no idea how the world continues to go round if we are that creaking fragile.

The point of this thread seems to have been to chat about opinions of DST. Why be so derogatory of “delicate snowflakes”? Nobody is claiming they can’t manage, they’re just sharing the Humble Opinions they were asked about.

I like it and would be fine having it year round. I get to work early, so I get up in the dark no matter what. Doesn’t bother me a bit. It is real nice to have the daylight at the end of the day when I can do things for myself.

I was wondering about that last night. How do they deal with travel?

:dubious: Double-check the thread title.

For millions of Americans, a new time zone is only a couple hour’s drive away, or less. It’s not that difficult to handle.

I’ve really gotten to the point where I just mock people who gripe about the time change.

Well, my interpretation might have been too broad – but I don’t literally hear any horns, which we can’t honk on a keyboard, so I took it as a call for opinions on the subject. Tdn, was the point for people to discuss their opinions only if they agree? If so, pardon me!

Now that we know what time it is in Indiana it’s time to get Arizona figured out.

Well, there has been some honking! I’m just saying, opinions overtly hostile to the concept of abolishing DST were not only welcomed by an opinion thread being opened, they were outright solicited!

I’ve looked this up in Amtrak’s sites. Essentially they said they’ll just try to make up the time or run an hour late (in the spring). An hour late for Amtrak is sometimes an improvement.

In the fall, they’ll just idle the train at the next station for an hour to resync schedules.
