WTF is up with people who want to have DST year round? Do you not understand that that would essentially be the same as not haveing DST?
It’s still DST even if year round because clocks are an hour faster than astronomical time. Astronomical Noon, aka high noon, is at 1:00 PM or 13:00 during DST.
No its not. Year-round Daylight Saving Time means that it gets dark an hour later than it would under Standard Time conventions. I am not sure sure exactly what you are saying unless you are suggesting that everyone including businesses, government, and schools would eventually shift their schedules to nullify the change. I don’t think that is true. Numbers are a powerful psychological thing. Many if not most institutions including schools start operations before 8 am. I don’t think you would see high school students starting class at 6:45 am no matter how the time was shifted. It simply isn’t done.
In some areas, they would be starting school in the dark under year-round DST however but they do that in Alaska today and they get by. The biggest effect for year-round DST would be that most people would only have a very short-time of the year to leave work in the dark and it would never happen for many.
I did one time meet up in San Francisco with a friend who had just flown in from Vermont. Granted that a three-hour time difference might take a little adjustment, but this guy was devastated. He looked near death from “jet lag.” I had an inkling it would have been the same if we’d met up in Chicago.
