Can someone reliably translate the opening lines to this song? I’m having trouble with some of the words.

Something about the wonders of the world I give to you, happiness cannot be bought and is unattainable…I have no idea what the middle two lines mean.

It’s not trivial, but I’ll try:

The wonders of the world are given to you
Luck is not for sale, desire[sup][/sup] remains unattained
Prize competitions
Are enticing insatiable
No sympathy for the majority

[sup]*[/sup] You know, “Sehnsucht” is on of these German words you cannot translate verbatim into English. Another reading would be longing.

This song was really really really popular in Bulgaria when I was living there from 2006 to 2008. The video isn’t really inherently terrible, it’s just so…tacky.

Plus the song sucks.

BTW, I am informed that the title means “You Have The Greatest Ass in the World”. And yet some Americans still think Europeans are somehow more cultured and sophisticated than themselves. Ha!

Just so everyone knows… that song was originally recorded in English, then translated for the German “Disko” market. Even Hassellhoff knows you have to divide and conquer Germany.

… Just like all of the “German Invasion” Pop of the eighties (Nena, Falco, Schilling) was originally recorded in German, then translated for the American Market.

Na, I was wrong… Sweetest Ass was originally recorded in German, then translated into English, Spanish, French, Czech, Dutch, and Estonian. I was hoping Kyla would set me straight. Spank me a little.

And yet more strangely, the Host in this video with the Haarigehundpuppe looks like Will Ferrell…
