House 10/2

House begins pitting the potential new docs against one another while attemping to diagnose a woman’s neurological problem. In a few weeks, he will have picked four of them, I believe, to remain at the clinic.

I saw Kal Penn (Kumar) in the scenes from next weeks episode (this week) so I figure we’ve found at least one new cast member…

I like him, I"m a little curious about his character.

I thought the 10/2 episode was fascinating: they had two thorny problems to deal with and they managed to resolve both, very well.

Problem 1) The format of the show requires a patient with bizarre symptoms, and House figures out what’s going on, after several mis-steps.
Problem 2) House doesn’t want assistants, and Cuddy wants him to start hiring. House thinks he can manage to deal well on his own.

So, the knot seems Gordian: if House doesn’t figure out the case and the patient dies, he’ll agree he needs assistants, but it will be highly unsatisfactory for the audience. If House does figure out the case, he’ll stand firm on not hiring assistants. A neat little circular puzzle, which they resolved very very well indeed, IMHO.

Dex where the hell did you see this? Have you discovered time travel? Or did I lose a few hours?

The previous ep…9/25.

NOOOO!!! It started LAST week?? What did I miss?

:frowning:

As Dex mentioned, none of the kids are back. House insists he doesn’t need a team and Cuddy insists he does. He is able to solve a case without them but at the end acquiesces to hiring someone. He gathers a large group of hopefuls and tells them they will be eliminated over the course of a month of intense work (“The hardest job interview ever”) so presumably he will be left with a team. I did see this season’s flock of ducklings on the Emmy red carpet, including “Kumar” and the dark blonde woman who impresses House with her blunt attitude.

I won’t tell about the case since you may want to catch it in reruns?

Well, it had a 2001 homage in the first 60 seconds. I’ve never watched it before, but that’s good enough to keep me here.

My deepest blushes… Yeah, I was dealing with last week’s, which we just saw last night. Sorry.

I like Kumar and the cynical blonde woman (House: You have to trust somebody, don’t you?" Blonde: “No”). I’m not sure I care for the old guy. He doesn’t seem very interesting to me. I guess the Mormon guy will end up being the third hire. All in all, I think I like this group better than the old one and I like the reality show elimination scenario that House has going on.

I liked the new folks a lot more than the original three, but I fear they’re coming back anyway.

I mean, come on, Kal vs. Jesse? No contest.

I rather strongly disliked the cynical blond. I just plain thought she was a bitch. I like Kal and I really like #13. She’s hotter than Cameron.

Don’t really care one way or the other about the Mormon.

Oh please, don’t keep the blonde woman. She’s even more annoying than Cameron. I miss Chase, but the other two can stay gone as far as I’m concerned.

Who did Wilson say was engaged? Someone insisted on talking over that exchange

Cameron and Chase.

Would 50 thousand be enough to cover all the cost incurred in treating the astronaut.

She threw down the cash then 40 doctors went to action. All sorts of scans and tests it even included a breast augmentation.

I agree with elfkin477 I miss Chase a bit as well.

I think he will fire them all. But will hold on to 26 for a while.

Hate the catty, manipulative blonde. I vote for Kumar.

I wonder if House knows about his med school interview

He was in the “flock” at the Emmys. He played a gangster in Death Sentence? Yep, I thought I recognized those eyes.

I hated BitchyBlond; and actually liked BlackMormonDude. I also like #13. Kumar I can take or leave. I liked the old guy, but don’t like the idea of him being one of the team, while not being a doctor. I can suspend a bit of belief for the show, but that would be going too far. I really disliked Natasha – although I was amused by her accent. I was surprised House didn’t make any ‘moose & squirrel’ jokes. I liked CuteSideburnsGuy (the one who spilled to Cuddy); sorry to see him go.

Like the last one, I thought this was a great episode. The season is off to a good start.

Physics joke.

You don’t get enough of those.

The actors were engaged in real life also, but IMDB says the wedding has been called off.

That conversation between Cameron and House at the end was hard to follow - we had to watch it a couple of times.
