Am I misremembering this? Doesn’t 13 have some sort of sleight-of-hand background? I thought that was going to come into to play during this ep. I agree that the Hostage Taker would’ve noticed using different vials, but when House gave the knockout stuff to the big guy, he could’ve put the injection on the back of his arm and just squirted the stuff harmlessly on the back of his shirt(sleeve), no?. Maybe I’m trying too hard to solve the problem and not the cause like House.
I was hoping House would keep the gun, and take the HT hostage in order to solve the problem. Probably would’ve had some bad consequences though.
It was good that House stuck to his belief that there is nothing after death, and wasn’t afraid of dying in the face of a real threat. Or maybe he thought he was immune as the doc?
I knew what the Porphoral was (sp?)! I recently had a colonoscopy, and that’s what they gave me. Put me right out, too.
I thought 13 was a bit too martryish in this. I’m sure she could have figured out a way to make it look like she was giving herself an injection without actually doing it.
Polite Dissent has an interesting take on this episode…apparently, the medicine part was WAY off base.
I have mixed feelings about this episode. It was great to see Cuddy concerned, and to have 13 be a little more human, plus I love the fact that they let Foreman be proactive about something for once. All of those were good. On the other hand, I am frankly horrified at the kind of sociopathic tendencies House gives in to that make him so unsympathetic. At the end of the day, I have to like the character as a person, and I think this episode creeped me out.
> My SO and I also believe that Forman is going to vital in 13’s life somehow, he
> thinks that Forman is going to cure her somehow.
and
> I just think that Forman is going to be some vital.
Is there a new meaning to the word “vital” that I don’t know about, or are there words dropped in these sentences? Please, everyone, I don’t mean this to be a snide comment. I genuinely want to know if I’ve missed some new meaning to the word. Please, everyone else, hold off and let Gwyen answer this question. I really don’t need other people’s snide replies of “Why are you worrying about some trivial missed words?” or “How stupid are you that you don’t know about the new meaning to the word ‘vital’?”.
Absolutely awful episode. So very, very many plot holes it’s unbelievable. “Suspension of disbelief” couldn’t be maintained for even a minute at a time.
E.g., since they knew the group was moving to the CT room, there would have been cameras and mics all over it. The SWAT team would have known the second the guy gave up the gun. End of situation.
And that’s just one of dozens of such idiocies in this episode.
I love how 13 and House looked up at the same time when the hostage taker said he had been in Florida. 13 Was lying down in the background, but you could almost hear her say “You idiot!”
I dunno 'bout hostage situations being fake in hospitals etc. Rudy Laniras (sp?) is a case in point. He was a small boy who choked on a balloon at his own birthday party. He was essentially a vegetable and his father took a gun down to the hospital and held the nurses off while he disconnected his son from “life support” (the ventilator). He was arrested and (I think) served some time, but what that man (I am in no way approving of his actions) did brought about change in how brain dead pts, no matter their age, are treated. It used to be that the plug was not pulled–ever and the families had no right to make that call. Now they do.
Sorry to go OT a bit there. Rudy’s dad wasn’t physically ill, but he was sweating, dangerous and not thinking straight. I have been having some of my own RL drama and I forgot to watch (again). :smack:
I will have to see this episode. I need to catch up on the others this season I haven’t watched, so maybe tonight I’ll start on that.
