House 11/25

An armed man takes the docs hostage.

Good ep, I thought, up until the very end, which was a bit of a let-down.

Entertaining, except I couldn’t stop thinking how easy it would have been to get the gun away from the guy who was weak, dizzy, sweating, and having difficulty breathing.

House had the most opportunity, but I guess you could claim he didn’t want the situation to end until he solved the medical mystery.
But half the other people had opportunities to tackle the guy with little risk.

It was one of the better episodes. I liked Thirteen a lot in this one. She was being healed almost as much as the patient.

And Zeljko Ivanek is always great in whatever he does. He’s probably be a much bigger star if anyone could actually pronounce his name.

I can’t admit I would be good in a situation like that, but I’m pretty sure House didn’t handle it well at all.

Didn’t think to try to slip him two viles, one with good stuff that wouldn’t harm anyone and one with knock-out stuff?

Those would be some vile vials.

Couldn’t House have hit him with the first vial from behind. Or they could have given a vial that contained something that gave the victim uncontrollable pain and House could have gone first. He’s on so much VIcodan it wouldn’t have affaected him at all.

I don’t know. Some things were LOL funny (e.g. when the heavyset guy fell over, even though I knew it was coming, Cuddy opening up her drawer that House had turned over), but I had to try really hard to suspend my disbelief because the plot holes were so gaping.

For instance, when 13 was in charge of getting the prescription, should could have easily filled one with saline and the other with an anesthetic, and then marked them so that she knew which one to give herself.

And on and on.

And I’m one of the few who actually likes 13 okay, but I think the writers have been trying too hard to make her sympathetic.

The chemistry with Cuddy and House is great. I usually don’t find Hugh Laurie attractive, but he was looking good last night. The ruffled hair and black t-shirt was a nice change.

I felt so depressed during the whole episode because it felt like a jump the shark, pull out the gimmicks episode. Patient takes hospital hostage, really?

And next week is House and Cuddy in the same office shenanigans. I knew the formula wouldn’t last forever, but now they’re just being silly.

Best episode of the season IMHO. The dumping of Cuddy’s desk drawers was a wonderful extra that explained what House was doing in her office in the first place, and Cuddy’s look at House when he made it out was awesome.

Only real problem with this episode was an overall lack of Wilson. They should have had him in there more.

Was one of the injected drugs really capsaicin, the active ingredient in hot peppers? Because I know some people whose ears probably perked up at the very concept of mainlining it.

“Yeah, it leaves you doubled over with pain at first, but after a while you can’t live without it.”

I am glad I wasn’t the only only going WTF about a weak, sick guy with a gun. Several moments House and 13 where right on top of him, or he was looking somewhere else. No way I wouldn’t have tried to snatch that gun, or knocked him in the head. I would also have had a placebo in one injection and the knock out in another. All of these things were silly, yet we see them in every movie and show pushing for drama.
Over all this was a good episode. 13 didn’t really grow on me much, though I hope she had made some growth here and will stop being a moron in the future. I am hopeful about her.

I am curious if the cast will even mention the incident next week, or if will be right back to normal? And where the heck is the P.I.??
My SO and I also believe that Forman is going to vital in 13’s life somehow, he thinks that Forman is going to cure her somehow. I don’t think that will happen, but that he will try very hard. (But then again I heart Forman)

Cuddy has to move into House’s office since hers is trashed, so at least indirectly, yes.

I really doubt they’re gonna have Foreman come up with a cure for Huntington’s. I mean, fictional world and all, but that’d be WAY too huge for one doctor on a show.

I thought that when they put him in the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine that the gun would be attracted to the big freaking magnets and fly out of his hand.

I agree that a gunman taking hostages does feel very jump-the-sharkesh. I still remember when it happened in “Once and Again”, and I knew the end of that series was now it sight.

The machine was a CT scanner (which uses X-rays) rather than an MRI machine.

All he’s going to do is run the clinical trial for some new drugs. Not to much, I wouldn’t think? But getting her to agree to the trial is a good thing.

I thought it was a good ep, plot-holes be damned. And I thought Thirteen was pretty believable in her big “dramatic” scene.

The hostage situation is a TV conceit, but it was played out well here with House & co. I liked how the SWAT guy called him Cuddy’s boyfriend.

And with the disheveled hair, raccoon eyes, tight sweater, and air of gaunt hopelessness, 13 has never ever looked hotter than last night.

I think the gunman was way too observant and paranoid to fall for that. He would have been watching too closely and would have insisted on getting his injection from the same vial as Random Hostage So-and-So.

Oh, I agree that would just be silly. But my SO is really good at suspending his disbelief, I mean he still loves Heroes for goodness sakes. I just think that Forman is going to be some vital. Again though, he is one of my favorite cast members.
