The story about the woman made pregnant by a bullet passing through a man’s testicle and then through her ovary is of course an urban legend. It originated as a joke in a medical journal:
I thought 13 only liked girls.
Bisexual.
In one episode House refers to 13 as a lesbian, and she’s says that she’s not. House says, “Well, 50%. I round up.”
Man, am I the only freaking person who’s been calling 13 and Foreman getting together for at least the past 4 episodes? I was wondering when it was gonna happen.
I caught the Irene Adler reference, but not until later. When I saw Simon looking in at the family holding the new-found baby, I was expecting the father to come out and punch him in the face.
Sherilyn Fenn is old enough to play the mother of a teenaged daughter. I feel old.
I totally fell for the parthonogenesis thing too, but is it ethical for House to lie to a patient like that?
Cuddy got her baby!
13 and Foreman…I won’t go there. But I was caught flat-footed…Kutner was the bully! I wonder how many people he’s found and apologized to?
Did anybody else think Sherilyn Fenn looked terrible?
That was my out-loud reaction to the scene.
Funny, but my wife and I disliked this ep, and our daughter very much liked it.
My wife thought the directing seemed off. Some very odd angles as such, as the focus on Cuddy’s butt as she cleared House’s chair. Subtle, but a tad off.
I just thought there were too many extremes.
Were we supposed to believe the kid was suicidal such that she didn’t think to mention recently giving birth to the docs who were trying to save her life?
What kind of lawsuit was House’s parth. story leading up to.
And what was the engaged woman thinking in begging for an answer - she KNEW she had been unfaithful.
The scene with Cuddy going into the abandoned building was about the most ridiculous thing I can remember seeing.
And then - voila - Cuddy is going to get the baby!
Jam the 2 blondies in at the end for no reason.
And as ridiculous as folks springing into liplock usually seems, Forman and 13 topped them all.
Yeah, the whole show is unbelievable. But when they just keep piling them on top of each other like this, it really takes much of the enjoyment out of it for me.
Then you didn’t see the episode when the clinic patient complained about her spermicide jelly – she had chosen strawberry. Smucker’s, I believe.
The show had leaked it many weeks ago. Together, they’re Foreteen.
I was so disappointed that Wilson let Kutner and Taub off the hook on Irene Adler. So *neither one of them *caught the Sherlock Holmes reference? I would have let them go all over the hospital asking people about her and looking like idiots.
I really did not enjoy much about this episode. Every bit of the subplots seemed incredibly obvious to me from the get go (the inhaler, the ‘virgin’ birth, Thirteen and Foreman, Kutner being a bully).
The main plot didn’t help much, either. I’m having a hard time believing that the girl’s parents wouldn’t want to raise their granddaughter because it’s “too painful”. I’m happy Cuddy will be a mother - I think she’ll be great - but the plot to get her there seemed very clunky to me.
I also had an issue with the direction, much like Dinsdale’s wife. The cuts seemed abrupt and just plain odd, on occasion.
I did enjoy Kutner and Taub ragging on House about Cuddy. It made me laugh, and the irritation House expressed at their mocking was amusing. I can’t remember now which one was punished with the anal exams at the soup kitchen, but that little bit of evil revenge made me giggle.
If I had caught the Sherlock Holmes references (thanks Smitty and beowulf573), I would have enjoyed that, too. I’m a little embarrassed I missed them, but I still appreciate the cleverness.
Finally, Wilson, was, as always, charming and witty. I find it very entertaining when he’s exasperated with the twits that surround him.
zweisamkeit you aren’t the only one, my issue was that there was no real lead in to that kiss. It was just…there. Even with all the foreplay for the past couple of weeks, I still wanted more of a reason why.
As for Cuddy, when did she become House? Who let her out of her office and who cut her hair! And what are the odds of that baby living in that environment! ahhhhhhhhh
I did enjoy this ep though, really I did.
Wilson might as welll have had a halo around his head during this episode for how evolved he seemed. Hell, he even looked great. Not mournful or bitter, but healthy and handsome.
Amen. Her hair looks like someone played a prank on her while she was asleep. Either go one centimeter shorter or four longer, but that length makes the baby Jesus cry.
I think it was supposed to feel forced, because it’s Foreman’s way of proving to himself that he isn’t House. And also because the show needs them to be together so Foreman can lose her. Since there isn’t currently a cure for Huntington’s, her trial will have to fail. So if the producers allow Foreman and 13 to actually “fall in love” and he loses her to the disease, he becomes bitter and keeps himself from any additional emotional contact with anyone else. His transformation into House becomes complete.
That, or they pull the whole misdiagnosis thing with 13, which would be REALLY lame.
I saw an episode of *LA Law *where Arnold Becker defended dating one of his clients. He stated that he works 70 hours a week and didn’t get a lot of time out of the office to meet people.
Now, Arnie was a womanizer and I won’t go there about an attorney dating a client, but I can see in situations where people who work in law firms or in hospitals not having a lot of free time to meet people outside the workplace. It’s like robbing banks…that’s where the money is. So I’m okay with the co-workers falling for each other…they’re the ones they spend the most time with.
I probably saw it - I don’t recall his reaction, though, and I’m not having any luck finding it on Youtube. I’m sure it was just lovely.
Hopefully there will be a cure or effective treatment some day.
Anyway, in terms of the show, it gives a potential long story arc of caring for someone with a degenerative disease.
The kiss was … weird and forced. I can’t decide if it is good or bad acting on their part. Good if they are both kind of not supposed to want it, or bad because - well, it looked really forced and awkward.
The best moment for me was the timiong with the response to getting regnant on a toilet seat - “Well, technically yes … if there’s a guy between you and said toilet seat” (or something to that effect - funny)
The episode was terribly flawed. Holes all over the place. But it worked anyway. I cried. Hard.
And I utterly failed to cry*. In spite of watching this episode and reading a thread about a dog dying on SDMB at the same time. Something strange is going on…
*I cry at the drop of a hat. I’m not kidding.
