House 12/9

Enjoyable enough, but too much of it was pretty obvious. I immediately caught the Irene Addler reference, though I wasn’t sure how long Wilson would string them along. Kutner being the bully was obvious to me as soon as Taub commented on how he must have been a victim. They’ve been working up to the Foreman and Thirteen thing for a while now. Parthenogenesis was obviously a ploy, though I admit I suspected he would just faked the paternity test to show he was the father, so I’m glad House went to extra mile. I didn’t see Cuddy ending up with the baby, though I feel like I should have connected the dots.

Still enjoyable, though.

*Drops a hat

I missed a lot of the episode. Does someone want to do a synopsis for me?

For those of us who remember the first sight of her ever in Twin Peaks…um, yeah, she looked pretty bad. (I know, I know, people age, people gain wait, I’m just sayin’, is all)

Twin Peaks

As a possible future story arc, they never really said the baby was healthy. “it’s too early to tell”. Ugh, I don’t want this to turn into a must see story where the baby is ill and dies. I’d rather have something go wrong w/ the adoption. Foreteen = gross. I called it weeks ago when 13 first talked to Foreman about the drug trials.

It hasn’t been mentioned in this weekly thread yet, but I sure would like to see the PI again. I’d rather 13 date him, and have her get some info on house. I can’t believe now that she was on The Black Donnelys. (I miss that show)

After the episode was over, I said to my wife that this episode wasn’t really about House at all. I wasn’t wild about the tension they were trying to build up between House and Cuddy. As far as I’m concerned, just let me be snarky to each other and leave it at that.

Does anyone know what else the pregnant ‘virgin’ has been in? She seemed familiar to me. That whole sub story gave me a sense of deja vu. Maybe I saw too many promos.

Even before Twin Peaks (by two years) will forever remember Sherilyn Fenn in Two Moon Junction. (safe picture)

Do a Google search on Two Moon Junction and then click on Images for some ‘good pics’ of her. hummina hummina

There is also the possibility that the producers of the show made her look even worse.

I think her name is Bitsie Tulloch. Her IMDB entry has a lot of roles in shows I’ve never heard of, but she was on an episode of Cold Case and on one West Wing, as well.

Thanks, I didn’t know her name, and didn’t catch it after the ep.

I thought the possibility was left open not that the baby dies, but that perhaps it will have developmental problems (Cuddy mentioned the possibility to the people who found her, how she might have brain damage). It’d be interesting TV to see extremely smart, hardworking, perfectionist Cuddy* have a baby who has mental retardation or some other stunting. They could go about it in a crass way, but they could also make it very good TV.

  • I’m remembering the episode where House said to her how she will only be happy when everything is perfect, and therefore, she will never be happy.

Well then she and House ARE perfect for each other!

Did anyone else notice the Virgin Birth reaction from the boyfriend? I could have acted that better. I keep remembering things about this ep that are just wrong, yet I can’t stop loving it.

Yes. And did you know she was born in a log cabin she built herself?

Of course you can get regnant on a toilet seat. Why do you think they call it the throne?

If the guy was stupid enough to believe the parthenogenesis story, he might be shaken up the first time he tells somebody the miraculous story, and the person says, “Hmm, that’s funny, because I don’t remember reading about that on the front page of every newspaper in the world.”

I know it’s tv, but I can’t see Foreman ever being that stupid. If anybody finds out, she’ll be kicked out of the study, he’ll be kicked off the study and possibly be in real trouble – and how long before he wants to violate the double-blind study to make sure she’s getting the drug?

Nice to see Lori Petty. Also nice to see somebody besides House have the diagnostic epiphany.

I got the jokes about Joseph Bell and Irene Adler, but I wouldn’t expect the characters to; maybe the Sherlock Holmes stories don’t even exist in their world. Nobody’s ever commented on House living at 221-B.

a tangential note: Hugh Laurie hosts SNL this week!

Did House really say “merry Christmas?”

That had to be the best part of the show.

That’s one of the main themes of the show - Everybody lies…even if it might kill them.

I was thinking about this. There have been a few cases like that.

  1. The bulimic business women from Season 1(?) who didn’t tell them she was taking ipecac to induced vomiting. It had ruined her heart.

  2. Cuddy’s handyman from Season 2 who didn’t tell them he was working in a cockfighting ring.

  3. The baseball player who didn’t want his wife to know he was using drugs.

I am sure there were others though…

don’t forget, last Christmas, House received a First Edition of the Works of Conan Doyle from his Secret Santa. I would have posted about it at the time, but ‘guests’ weren’t allowed to post back then…

I just wanted to say that Kutner’s expression when leaving the hospital right at the end was excellent.
