House 2/23

I can’t remember when or why or who, but House killed him for some medical reason a couple of seasons back. I remember a line that was something like “What happened to Steve McQueen?” House: “He got clubbed to death with a cane-like object”.

This episode was great for me, because I’ve watched every single House episode and always felt that House was just sort of Hugh Laurie, hidden behind the American accent and the constant stubble. Now that he shaved, I was like: “Hey! It is Hugh Laurie!”

Also, the heroin thing was another Sherlock Holmes-ism. I’m a bit disappointed that none of you caught the reference.

As for the story arc with the methadon – yes, it would have been interesting to see it a bit more expanded. On the other hand, the final shot was pretty beautiful and sad in a strange way.

Not to brag, but my thought processes are like House’s. I see what I have and what I want to end with and will come up with the simplest way of doing things. I admit that it’s not genius so much as pure laziness on my part.

Why go through all the paperwork of hiring a nurse if you just want someone to watch you sleep at night?

We ARE talking about the guy who used LSD to treat a migraine, right?

House doesn’t get all his vicodin from legitimate prescriptions. He could never obtain enough that way. He only maintains enough prescriptions to cover his @$$ is the cops come by. I’m still waiting to meet his dealer(s) actually. . . Should be interesting!

Does anybody else miss the PI?

It has been speculated (by me, among others) that the unseen Dr. Chase prescribed him the methadone.

Yes, I miss the PI. I don’t think he should be in every episode, but he should drop by now and then. And Thirteen should drop out.

TruCelt - House has stolen Wilson’s prescription pad in the past. I don’t think he’s buying them off the street.

Did this thread really get this far without mentioning the moron with the broken finger? I laughed SO hard at that scene, I am almost ashamed. Seriously the scene at which I have laughed hardest for any TV show in the 08-09 season.

Don’t be overly bound by gender.

Let’s think this through.

First off, there is no Alfred.

Cuddy is clearly Commissioner Gordon, only younger, hotter, and femaler. Nominally she’s supposed to be the boss of House, as he needs her sanction in a way she does not need his, but his superior skills and utter dickness cause a power struggle.

Wilson is the Martian Manhunter. A hero of similar stature, but not as acclaimed because his greater sanity prevents him from being as outrageous.

Foreman is Nightwing. His first* and most talented apprentice, constantly struggling because of his desire to be as good as his mentor without being as much of an ass.

Thirteen is clearly Starfire because she’s ridiculously hot and doing Foreman. She can’t be Batgirl because there’s not a strong enough connection to Cuddy, though Cameron might be. Actually, now that I think on it, Thirteenis probably the Helena Bertinelli Huntress.

Kuttner is the current Robin, Tim.

Taub doesn’t fit into this scheme and will undoubtedly be retconned out of existence at the next transuniversal crisis.

Oh, and Stacy (the ex-girlfriend played by Sela Ward) is obviously Catwoman. I leave it to the rest of you to decide about Vogler and Tritter, but one is obviously Ra’s Al Ghul and the other obviously the Joker.

*Yeah, I know Chase actually worked for House longer, and I think that of the original 3 under-docs, Foreman was last hired. Don’t bother me with facts.

Eh, one of the downside of watching this show with a doctor - the entire medical story completely falls apart if you know anything about how a hospital runs. There is a 0% chance that a radiology department would allow a patient to take contrast with anything other than normal kidney function tests, and there is no way a patient that developed these complications could have had normal blood test results for kidney function.

There were numerous other medical problems (as always), but this one is just ridiculous since the entire episode (even the non-medical part) hung on it.

I’ve been wondering if Taub is going to get in trouble because of a HIPAA violation after giving out patient info last week went he went to see the supposedly molested kid. The priest wouldn’t report him, I’ll bet. Kutner was there when the kid showed up, and the rest of the team obviously knows about it.
