They’re setting up a future plot point with the whole “Thirteen is bisexual” thing, right? Maybe? Please?
IMO Amber is way more attractive than Thirteen, who has that too-skinny Hollywood look: every TV show has a female character who looks like her and it’s boring.
I read a pre-season spoiler that so far hasn’t come true; that
Cuddy would have a big makeout scene with someone we’d NEVER expect
and if it turns out to be right, please God let it be what I’m thinking. If not, I would happily accept a Cameron/Thirteen hookup. Mmmm… yes I would.
If you look back on previous seasons, Cameron was rather obsessed with sex. She comes out several times with random quips of a rather dirty nature, and ended up engineering “microwave pizza” with Chase.
Entirely possible that she’s got a whooole aspect of her life that’s been left out thus far.
But that’s the point. CTB really hasn’t changed–she’s out to get House via Wilson. She made a point of calling House Greg, to get in his face. The ONLY other person who has called him Greg is Stacy (I don’t count his parents). She did it to be provocative–she might just as well have sprayed urine. IMO, House is letting Wilson know that he is not going to interfere here. House takes his hands off the controls and CTB and Wilson implode on their own. No one has changed. House knows that Wilson will not leave him in the long run. CTB doesn’t know that. CTB slipped up when she called Wilson Wilson and House cottoned on to that.
The mystery around 13 is ridiculous–like a department head wouldn’t know her name and deliberately use it (House would–he is the type to say repeatedly, “lighten up, Francis”).
Missed the edit window.
I cannot see how CTB is physically attractive. Her hair style/color does not flatter her face or coloring; her eyes are too close together; her cheeks are well, chipmunky. She has a nice figure and pretty colored eyes. She does nothing to enhance her attractiveness–most likely deliberate on the part of the show.
While recently watching the 1st season of Bones on DVD, I was surprised to see CTB as Booth’s love interest. They tried to present her as sexy (a lawyer), but there was something I found a tad unattractive about her face.
Any yet the episode as a whole was surprisingly less anti-theist than usual. The Housean notion that we’re irrational idiots was actually counterpointed rather effectively throughout.
He was eliminated as a candidate because his diagnoses agreed with House’s too much; House wanted someone to argue with him, not agree with him.
The show has always gone out of its way to protect religious beliefs. It would be suicide for it not to.
I’m still trying to get caught up on everybody…what is the background of CTB, and why do we care?
Not only that, but faith is NOT rational, period. You either believe or you don’t (or you agonize about whether to make that leap). That does not marginalize religious belief in the slightest.
Cameron has been an interesting study of “faith”. She claims atheism, but admits to being some sort of agnostic, and then says things like “sex can kill, and if God hadn’t made it incredibly fun, the human race would have died out years ago.”
Chase is another interesting case in faith. He can be so weaselly and backstabbing, yet he went to seminary? I actually find his foibles and weaknesses quite refreshing, having known precious few pastors and “people of faith” who walk the walk. I thought the nun in season one–the mother superior-was an excellent, realistic portrayal. But then, so were the other nuns–as human and frail as the rest of us…
Sorry to sidetrack. I’m going out on a limb here and say that CTB will last another few, maybe 4, episodes (no idea how many there are, have lost count due to the strike), but then she’ll be gone for good. IMO, she will leave something lasting behind that effects Wilson and House, though. House will not “reign supreme”. I doubt Wilson will marry her, but perhaps a baby? Or at least the threat of one? It will be enjoyable to find out.
Don’t know specifics, but it is said in season 4 that no one likes her (see Mirror, Mirror episode), so she settled for being “respected” (I would say more feared than respected). She goes out of her way to state that she will do anything to win, anything. Odd as it seems, House does have ethics, standards and lines he will not cross–something people disregard or neglect to appreciate when dealing with him. She crosses that line, not just once. She deserved what she got.
I thought it was strange that the Hasidic husband respected his wife enough to want to give her privacy when she wasn’t totally clothed, but was willing to con her about sundown and Shabbos. I was expecting that to come back and bite him in the butt.

Very good point, that irked me too.
I do realize that, of course, but the term “irrational” is also a loaded euphemism for “without or deprived of normal mental clarity or sound judgment” or “not endowed with the faculty of reason”. (Random House Unabridged) It is often used to set up the faithful as people who are incapable of reasoning about anything at all. Faith may not be rational, but it is also not cherry pie. That doesn’t mean that faith and cherry pie are incompatible.
With respect to the sundown thing, I wasn’t irked by it because the husband had tried to impress upon her the overarching Torahic command about the sanctity of life. I think he felt like he was saving her life, which I think he felt compelled to do. As another Jew famously observed, “The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath.”
No love for Laura Silverman? What does she have to do to get a mention around here, fuck Matt Damon?
So did Joseph Stalin.
I’m getting a little annoyed by all the “CTB isn’t even attractive” in respect to her looks. Not all women look like supermodels and fortunately not all men need women to look like supermodels to find them attractive. CTB isn’t an uggo, she’s a nice-looking woman, the thing that makes her unattractive is her personality. If she hadn’t been cast as the cut-throat bitch and showed off more cleavage how many of you guys would be going on about how hot she is? I never understood why everyone pants over Cuddy and Cameron, they seem just ordinary to me, attractive but not beautiful. Perhaps it’s the character’s personality that adds to the attractiveness? Then again I find both characters annoying so I just don’t see it.
In fairness, she did spend most of the episode un- or half-conscious. What kind of praise do you want for her, “She plays a good feeb”? Consider it done.
